VS 2008 Sendkeys To Xbox 360 Controller Gamepad?
Oct 4, 2009
I was just wondering if there was a way to send the button value of a button on a controller to the controller. What I mean is, if the xbox 360 controller was a windows form, clicking the mouse on one of the buttons would be like regular button presses, and then the button.performclick for that button would also press that button. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

How do I use XInput in VB.NET so I can use the Xbox 360 Controller's Rumble feature & get all the button presses, the only examples I found show C++ but I need to access the controller in my VB.NET application...I can't even figure out how to make a reference to XInput to try & start using it or if I need to download something first(if I don't already have it installed.)By what I see a version of XInput comes with windows already in Windows Vista, but I wouldn't know what .dll to look for, where it's located or what references to add or how to use the .dll, like what api's I can use when having added it to my application to use.

I want to make a database of all the xbox live arcade arcade games on the xbox live marketplace, I need to parse an xml file and add the needed data from the xml node into a datagridview.Here is the xml file i need to use to grab links and other data about the game:
[URL]
Being the noob I am it took me about 6 hours to figure out how xml works and to write some code for what i need to do.
Here is what i came up with:
'for grabbing the name of the update
Public Sub updatename()
Dim xmldoc As New XmlDataDocument()
[code]....
That code works fine.Now when i add another column to the datagridview called "update size" i want to know how to add the grabbed data from another sub i made to the new column.What would the code be for adding the strings for the new sub into the seconds column? the first was, DataGridView1.Rows.Add(str)" . So what would the second be ?Also another question i have is how do i put an image in an imagecolumn by a web link, not a local picture.

I'm i've been looking around now for quite a while to find out how you would go about making an application that can stream media to a Xbox 360. So far i know that Vuze and PlayOn have successfully accomplished this and i have also found that you can view the streaming url in vuze to my media that is being streamed to my Xbox.

What is the difference between SendKeys.SendWait and SendKeys.Send?Send obviously will just send they key immediately, but does SendWait actually wait for the message to be processed or does it also send it immediately?The function's name itself is just confusing. Which one should I use if I want to send keystrokes to a 3rd party app immediately, or is there no difference? To me, a few milliseconds is a big difference.

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
CheckBox1.Checked = True
While CheckBox1.Checked = True
SendKeys("{END}")
End While
End Sub
That is the code, the error is "SendKeys is a type and cannot be used as an expression."

Well I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition & I have already coded support for buttons & sticks for the most part basically(I can't detect the two different triggers as two different values so I can't know when one is partially down when ones pushing in the other stick or letting that one go) I can't detect the guide button....also I can't make the controller vibrate...
Is there a way to solve this? I don't want to download C# express edition or visual studio trial & xna just to try & get code for C# which may include code I don't know what I need to copy(+translate to vb) or classes/functions not available in the Visual Basic language.
Can anyone help me so I can make this from VB? I want them to be able to use the buttons to move around the user interface(not a game), the guide button to be used to bring up a menu to turn off the controller & such like that & vibration feedback so they are sure when they pushed a button & an action was carried out for example....
---My last post was moved off-topic telling me to post in the xna forum but I don't want to build this using xna game studio or C# language that you must have installed to use xna game studio....I need this code for VB.NET if it's even possible to do at all, reccomendations to use XNA/C++/C#,F#, etc...these will be ignored as I don't want to have to download & install XNA or the express editions for all the different coding languages just because one thing in my own isn't turning out easy for me to work with.
If i had the money for visual studio this would be no big deal but im a single developer basically(all the coding for the program) & don't have enough money for the tool that could allow me to easily make a project using any language I want without having to download & install all the express editions seperately & start them up seperately when I want to work with certain projects.

I want to use a gamepad as a mouse/keyboard in a online pc game. Im using a program called Xpadder to allow me to work the mouse/keyboard, but it wont work in game because it simulates the mouse. The game blocks the dll file that allows you to manipulate the mouse/keyboard, so that they can prevent bots.
So what if somehow i registered the gamepad as a mouse? So that its not simulating a mouse, it is a mouse.
If i could fool the pc into thinking it is a mouse then when they game receives inputs from it, the game would accept them because it also thinks its a mouse.
How would i do something like this?
I suppose i would have to make a mouse driver that worked with the gamepad? But i dont know how to do any of that stuff...

I'm looking for the underlying Win32 API call that the DotNET Framework invokes on a SendKeys.Send or .SendWait call, or a Win32 API Equivalent to SendKeys. I've already experimented with SetKeyboardState which seems like the way to go, except that it does not raise any kind of keyboard event that causes the set keystates to register with an active application or the OS (at least not until another key is pressed; for example I can meddle with the keyboardstate before events process on a natural keystroke, but I can't invoke a keystroke programmatically).

I just got back into VB since being, at best, a hobby programmer with VB6. Wow, so much has changed since then, so I feel like I am starting all over again.
After much hunting and searching, I found that great code sample that shows the input from the game pad/joystick. (Finding visual basic 2008 and gamepad input information isn't easy!)
Now I want specific buttons to play a random file from a specific folder.
The application runs on a Netbook, which is a bit light on resources. I would prefer to play WAVs and MP3s with something that's less resource intense than windows media player. (Perhaps its very easy to do so from the code level. I've noticed WMP is so loaded with visualizations and so forth, its hard to turn all that crap off)

Has there been any progress on getting VB to work with XBox 360 and Windows Phone 7? I hate to be rude, but it seems like we still considered to be second class citizens when it comes to non-desktop platforms.

I have a few ideas on how to do it but it's not working when I put it to code.I tried to make the program sleep and have a loop to send the f1-f4 keys and click on the program I want the macro in. However that does not work.

I was hoping you would be able to help me out. I want to automate a process on a website, through my program.I want to do sendkeys to a web browser component, and also be able to focus on links and click them.Here is what I want:the browser is by default on page 1.there are a bunch of links on page 1, but i want the program to automatically click the link with inner html that says "Link 3". Next, i want the program to wait for the next page to load, then find another link. Finally, I want the program to focus in on a textbox, type some data, then click a submit button, which takes the browser back to page 1. I want this process to keep looping over and over again. Can anybody help me with the functions involved in waiting for a page to load then finding a link based on its html?

VB 2008 Express. I write a program designed for interacting with an Android phone that is hooked up to a Windows machine. One of the tools in my program is a utility designed to assist the user root their phone. Now in order to root it goes through a command line utility called adb which lets you access a terminal on the phone. It must then type commands in that terminal. Most processes that this program does can be done through a batch file, however rooting the phone isn't one of them. The reason being once it actually logs in to the phone's shell, it stops running commands because it just gets stuck on that line, waiting for it to finish.
So despite being a little primitive I designed that part of my application to use sendkeys. So the way it should work is:
1) It launches powershell as an administrator
2) Types the following commands (I have abbreviated the number of commands it types for the sake of this board. There's actually about 20 lines total):
SendKeys.SendWait("mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system{ENTER}")
SendKeys.SendWait("cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su{ENTER}")
SendKeys.SendWait("chmod 4755 /system/bin/su{ENTER}")
SendKeys.SendWait("flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img{ENTER}")
Now it seems that for 90% of users, this works perfectly fine. However for a small group of people, this is what actually gets typed in to the powershell window:
> /system/bin/su{ENTER}
_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img{ENTER}
For the people that have this happen to them, it's always the exact same thing. It's like it completely skips all letters until it gets to a special character. I have no clue what could be causing this. The only thing I have found was that sendkeys wasn't totally supported but that running it as administrator would fix that, which is why I now have it run as admin. But that didn't work. I also had some success by using powershell instead of cmd, but it's still failing for a small number of people.
Every other part of the program works perfect except for this. I haven't found any common element between the people that it is failing on. They aren't running the same anti-virus or the same programs. I program and debug on Windows 7 64 bit, yet someone else can run it on the same OS and it won't type it out properly. Is there something better that I could be using instead of sendkeys?
