I have a little big problem in one application.
I have a datagridview with data from a datatable, this datatable have these fields (id,num1,num2, date, user, ref,qt,cost, center), some of them are hided in the dgv (id,num1,num2,date,user). The user can edit, delete and add new rows to the dgv.
I have a save button that performs this actions:
First check if there are new rows, and if yes it fill the hidden fields. Then validate the inserted values by the user with a couple of ifs. In the end, i call the bindingsource EndEdit, and call the adapter Update command against the datatable...
This sometimes works others not really, i don't understand why.
The error it's: "Concurrency violation: the DeleteCommand affected 0 of the expected 1 records"
I think sometimes when Updating it occurs to.
But I've got a problem now, and I haven't been able to find any answer. Here is the code I'm executing:
Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick

I have a dataset which I load three tables into from the database. Each of these three tables are related by the AccountNo. On two of the tables I specify this field as a foreign key constraint with the appropriate cascading flags. However when I scroll through the list of companies with my combo box. Only the one table is having its values change on the form whereas the other tables remain static/unchanged.[code]...

My code just update the first record the datatable but when i want to update any other record of datatable it still remain unchanged. I am using Master/Detail tables and my coding structure is as under Note I am just facing problem to updating the child table only and I am using Typed DataSet and in child table ItemID is a Primary Key
Dim i As Integer
StoreDBDataSet.Tables("RequisitionDetail").Rows(i).Item("ItemID")=txtCode.EditValue
StoreDBDataSet.Tables("RequisitionDetail").Rows(i).Item("ItemName") = txtDescription.EditValue

View 1 RepliesI've been browsing these forums for a day looking for the answer to this, so far nthing has fitted.I've got an access 2000-2003 database containing a whole pile of data for a VB coded application to use. One of the tables in the database needs to be able to be updated with data from the application. The new data is stored in the app as a datatable. I need to replace the original table in the Access file with the datatable in the App.
I'm changing as many as 60 values at a time, so defining these as parameters in an OleDbCommand would be impractical and frankly ridiculous.
I have a vb.net project where I have data loaded into a datatable in a dataset and have to do approximately 20 updates that are sql like. On this project, I don't have access to sql nor does the end user want to use any type of sql, sql express etc.
My question is, is there a generic way of doing this so I can reuse it. Was wondering if a dataview could be analgous to the "WHERE CLAUSE" and some type of delegate function could be the update function.

View 2 Replieson a windows form i have a combobox called currency, it is populated by a table-adapter called exchan-gerate which is turn populated by a dataset called mydataset. on form load, i issue update commands to the back-end database that holds the table which populates the dataset - they work. if i look at the update to the combobox, they are not reflected until i exit and restart the app - then they're fine. further down the form load i've tried:
Me.exchangerate.Update(Me.DataSet.Currency)
Me.CurrencyComboBox.Refresh()
am i missing something silly to have the values in the combobox change and refresh at the time of the update to the database? as i said, an exit and restart of the app displays the accurate data.
I am using Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express. I have a WPF-based project. I have a successful connection to a database in Database Explorer, and a working existing Data Source in Data Sources.
I created a datatable from the datasource using this code:
Dim roster_table As New DataTable("AGENT_ROSTER")
I can manipulate this datatable just fine, but I cannot figure out how to save its data to my database (agentroster.sdf) since the connection is on a global level, and isn't declared in this particular window.
How do I update this database from the datatable on this window?By the way, I tried creating a connection on this window's code, using the exact same connection string as the successful globally-connected database, yet it said that it couldn't connect.
Is there a way to nest a datatable into another datatable? I know you can do this with gridviews but thats not what I'm looking for.
Also, I don't want to merge the datatables. What I'm trying to do is have a datatable with 2 columns and each column containing different datatables.
i have a datatable with some data, i need to select some of the data, and put that data in a new datatable.

I have a webpage with a form that is used to edit some object. This object contains a Collection of other objects defined like this: Public Overridable Property Employees As List(Of Employee)
On a form I can delete an employee, add a new one or modify existing one. When I click save new values are sent to the server. On a server I check if the user exists. If exists then I modify its values, if it does not exist then I add it. All employees that exist on the server and were not sent are marked as deleted (State changed to EntityState.Deleted). I try to use the following code (dbCollection = database entities, newCollection = collection sent from the form):
[Code]...
This code does not work, because changing to EntityState.Deleted removes the object from collection, and for each loop breaks, since the collection is modified...I know that I can overcome this problem by using a for loop or adding objects to delete to some other list first, but I hope maybe there is a pattern that would make my code nicer.
I have spent several hours trying to delete a row and insert a row into an Access database using the OLEDBDataadapter and dataSets without any success. I don't get any errors it just doesn't update the datatable. Here is the last version of the code I have been trying to get to work. I have done a lot of searching and have
Data save
Private Sub SaveNumDte(ByVal ltoNum As String, ByVal ltoDate As Date)
Dim numTotal, x, MaxRows As Integer

how to update the data of an SQL server 2008 express using vb.net 2008? My raw data actually from excel file only and i want to transfer all the data and merge it in my newly installed SQL server 2008.Normally im updating it daily that is why i want to create code.
View 6 RepliesI have made an updater program which updates several files used by another application (again made by me). It works great. But when it comes to updating the updater itself I was in a dilemma. My updater program can download a file from the server but because it is running it can't update itself. I wanna know what would be the best way for the updater to update itself.
I thought after the updater downloads its own new executable i would run a .bat file which would remove the old updater and rename the newly downloaded exe. But again as the updater runs the .bat file and shut down itself, there could be a violation. How can updater update itself in the best way ? (just need a way for updater to get a new exe and get it replaced)
Note: Updater is a single exe application made in .net 3.5. It updater another application by downloading and replacing files.
I am trying to get information into a database from VB 2008. I have an established connection and have pulled fields onto my form. I am able to see data already in the database on the form. Originally, I tried to use an Update button to send the data from the dataset to the database. This did not work. I then added a Save button to the Navigator on my form in hopes this would do it. This too, failed.

I have a windows app that I have published to a file server. Users are able to install the app from this location but when I publish updates to the same location (new version), they are not able to get the updates. I have it setup to check for updates before starting. On my computer (development) I can install the app from the file server and receive the updates.

View 15 RepliesI have a working data grid on my form which pulls the courses the logged in user has signed up for from my database.
[Code]...
However, i can't figure out how to do this:When a new course is added to the database, i need the data grid to 'refresh' or 'update', which will mean that the new course will show up in the grid automatically.
Currently, users have to restart the application in order for the new course to appear in the data grid.
Right so I have my piece of software, it's complete (for now) and I want to get the final version of it and send it away. Once sent away the only way I'll be able to update it will be via a DVD or maybe if they download the update online. This is what I wanna know: I am just using the .exe file from the Debug folder, is this the right way? Do I need to compile it first and do a proper saving of the .exe file?Is there a way to specifically do the updating of the .exe file that is somewhere else? At the moment my thoughts would be to just copy the .exe file from the debug folder and wack it on a disk with a bat file that xcopys it. Is that considered the right way to do it?
