Mar 22, 2010am having trouble getting a user control to build. Its for a Snake game and the sub for drawing the snake on the grid is throwing up this error when i try to build the user control.

VS 2008 Make A Release Build Instead Of A Debug Build?
May 3, 2010I am using 2008 Express Edition. I am trying to make a Release build instead of a Debug build.Under Tools->Options, Projects and Solutions->General - I checked Show advanced build configurations. The option to switch configurations does not show up in the IDE.
After this, I went to the Project Properties->Compile and switched the Configuration from Active(Debug) to Release.After building, I looked in my project directory, however only in the Debug sub-directory was the .exe and nothing in the Release sub-directory.I have used Visual C++ Express Edition, where I noticed that if you do not change to Release in the IDE than after changing to Release in properties, resets the project to the last configuration setting which is usually Debug.how to make the Debug/Release box available in the IDE, since Tools/Options does not make it show up?

I was thinking I could do something like this:

...but that doesnt work to be able to set properties and call methods. I somehow need to get the user control and and declare it as that user control type.

Visual Studio requires that designers use the first class in the file. Move the class code so that it is the first class in the file and try loading the designer again.
Do i make the user control directly and add the code? Because thats what i did.. Or are there steps to do first before creating it?

I can add the class as variable in my class, but I want to make it just like the timer, Errorprovider, Backgroundworker etc. standard windows usercontrols. In short, I want to have an user control that shows up in the bottom of the screen and which has no window.I guess I would have to inherit something, but it all causes crashes till now, as soon I drag/dropped the control into the field. (designer error)
So, how can I make such an user control that has no window, just some events and properties?

I want to create a text box control so the user can enter the date without making a mistake.ex:-Lets assume that the user is trying to enter 31/03/2010 so when the user types 3 first the next number allowed should only be 1 or 0 because there cant be any date more than 31.and if the user enters 31/ then he should only be allowed to enter a month which has 31 days. I can't see any problem in the code and what it should do is trigger an animation depending on the status of a service (spooler service in this case). It may be because I am manually referencing to the System.ServiceProcess namespace, which is not available in WPF framework by default, but I'm not sure.

Dec 29, 2011What I am about to do build is a UI that will allow a power user to build complex queries.
This is non-trivial, but very common. So before I re-invent the wheel, I would like to see if anybody can point me to some already-written free code or release some of their own.
Required:
To be able to specify some 'where-clause' type logic like this: Age>21 and (Citizen=True or HasGreeCard=True) but without having to type the query code, instead, use a UI with constrained options and on-the-fly syntax checking (e.g., no unclosed parenthesis or ending a term with an Operator).
I've seen this type of thing in many line-of-business apps, where you can say 'add condition' and another line appears on the UI like this:
Dropdown of fields Dropdown of ops (=, >, etc) Blank box for entry
And you can add more lines, and the lines are all and'ed, but you can also decide to OR a few, or insert parenthesis (explicity or via indenting), NOT a line, insert, delete, and move lines around, etc.
Not required but nice:
WPF - I could convert from winforms. Extensibility using OO constructs. Validate the sanity of the query. Emit a System.Linq.Expressions expression tree - or similar data structure. If it attempts to execute the query I don't need that; but I don't mind removing it.

All my functions are in a module and I will just call them in main form. So in module how can I find that user control and change its values? I tried writing a function in user control form. Like it has 10 txt box and I tried to pass a structure as argument in that user control form but I am unable to do so. when I tried to declare the structure outside function parameter in user control form it works well but not as function parameter..

Apr 21, 2009I have a usercontrol that contains a datagridview and a toolstrip. When creating a windows form that contains 2 of the mentioned usercontrol i gate for example c1 and c2 where both contains for sure the datagridview and the toolstrip hving the same control name for example G and t. in my case i want to apply the security on each form, i do this by reading the access of each control inside the windows form and if the control on the form was a user control then i dont consider it as one entity instead but as a grid alone and a toolstrip alone in order to be able to apply its security accordingly. but in ma case, if i want to disable the first grid and enable the 2nd i wont be able to do so since both grids have the same name. is there any solution for the above.

VS 2008 Determine If User Has Scrolled To The Bottom Of A Control?
Aug 22, 2010I am modifying some code I found here to test to see if a user has scrolled to the end of the control. In this case the control is a Crystal Viewer but I posted here because I think the issue is based on the vertical scrollbar not the Crystal Viewer itself.
The code flags an error at

Indicating 'OfType' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlCollection'.
I understand the concept that I can't reference something that it is not but I don't know how to fix it. The original code was for a DataGridView.
The ultimate goal (not finished) is to find out when the user has used the mouse or possibly the scroll bar itself and if it hits the bottom of the page of the viewer, then trigger a new page so it looks like they can just keep using the mouse to scroll.

May 20, 2011I've followed the tutorial on the MSDN for this subject to the T and I'm not getting the User Control to Display in the cell.
I don't think the InitializeEditingControl is ever getting called by the Cell for some reason.

VS 2008 User Control Complication With Windows Forms?
Nov 24, 2010I have a program that I am creating in a windows form to track information about computers that I build for each project I do. The way I have my form layout is two buttons on the top of the form(1 for adding a computer and the 2nd to remove a computer) I then have a Tab window where when I want to add a computer I use the "Add button" click event to create a new tab and add a user control "Computer" that I created that contains all of the default fields that I desire (i.e. serial numbers os type, product key etc.) The "Computer" user control also contains two buttons (1 for adding a PC Card and the 2nd to remove a PC Card) The PC Card is another user control that I have created that has all of the desired fields I require for PC Cards. I am able to add new computers with no problem and name the tab
