VS 2008 Variables That Don't Work On A Minus Calculator
Nov 4, 2009
I am making a calculator at the moment and the plus works and so does the minus well the minus does the FIRST time but not the time after that.you would normaly get 2, but instead it says that the answer is -3.I have attached the calculator so that you can have a look.
I am new to the MSDN forums and was wondering if you could kindly help me with a learning project.I have created a calculator with a simple addition function button and was wondering if the method I used to create it is efficient and how I may go about adding additional functions such as a minus function. Will my current code allow m to implement a minus, multiplication, or division function easily? How do I add a minus function and would adding a multiplication or division function? Also would can I use the same global variables to do this.[code]
I need to write a simpe calc. program to add, mutiply, subtract and divide. I want to have two textboxes that I enter numbers in and when I click a button, +,-,/ or * a third text box will display the result.Rather than declaring my variables inside each instance of a click event I would like to declare them globally so I just need to perfom the calculation on them and display result. However declaring them globally doesn't work for me. I;ve tried the variables inside the btnAdd click event which works, but as I said I'd prefer to declare them onece globally.
Public Class Form1 Dim number1 As Double = CDbl(txtNum1.Text) Dim number2 As Double = CDbl(txtNum2.Text)[code]...
i have to finished a cacluator, all my code seems to be working apart from the equals button and i do not understand why..i've tried several different things such as a case too but nothing seems to work to get the equals button working. This is my code, no need for all the buttons they are the same and ive declared variables.
Description of Program/Events. I would like to come up with a number generator that takes the Total number (for this example I'll say 20), divides it by 2, and does alternating additions so the end result will generate a list like this: 1, 11, 2, 12, 3, 13, 4, 14, 5, 15, 6, 16, 7, 17, 8, 18, 9, 19, 10, 20.
I can understand the arithmetic, just can't work out how to express this in code. The end result would be save in a .Txt file (I have added a SaveFileDialog1 control, but figure I need to get the result before I work on the export). Dim StartValue As Integer Dim EndValue As Integer Dim TotalValue As Integer ' Convert input to numeric variables. StartValue = Val(StartNumTextBox.Text) [Code] .....
I am making a calculator Program to start off on visual basic. I got it to work with MsgBox, but now I'm trying to get it to work with the Print.
MsgBox Example Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_MouseClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Button1.MouseClick Dim Pizza As Integer [Code] .....
Say I type in 6 and 6 I'm getting errors saying Example: Conversion from string "youranswer is 12" to type 'Integer' is not valid. I've tried many things, but it's not working. I want to know what I need to do to get it to print out how I want it. Do I need to do some conversions properly somehow?
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click TextBox1.Text = "" End Sub
This is to Clear all numbers but I don't know how to Clear just one number. for example i want to do 23 once a user clicks CE, i want to make it show 2
I'm new in the programming area and I'm having trouble making a calculator. My question is: How do I make the calculator work using only the keyboard, without the need of mouse.
I tried this: Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Me.KeyPreview = True End Sub Private Sub FlowLayoutPanel1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles RESULTADO.KeyDown If e.KeyCode = Keys.NumPad0 Then [Code] .....
It only works on the text box called Result. I want to know how do I make work in the whole Class, and if it is possible, to make it work on two different Classes without writing twice the same code.
how to do programs in Visual Basic 2010 (It's a Currency Converter/Import Duty Calculator) and I've come across a few problems which are listed below.Basically the project is like this:I'm trying to create a program which converts Hadean pounds, shillings and pence into British Pounds and Pence before it transfers to a form which calculates Import Duty and VAT, after which it gives the final price. So far, I've created a program which is made up of 2 forms and a Splash Screen. The information listed below is for those who want to know more about what I'm trying to do.Once the Hadean price has been converted to Sterling additional import duties and VAT must be added to the Sterling price. Thus control will pass to a 2nd form where importation duty is added. Depending on the method of importation the followig duty should be added to the Sterling price:
I am making a game that involves moving picture boxes automaticly i can get the boxes moving but I need them to be object orientated but when I try to make it a class i am not to sure how to declare the veriables to make it work. [code]
I get what I'm supposed to do, and this is my 9th project in this class so I'm not new to the coding and how it works, but for some reason I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the multidimensional array and the variables to get the program to work. Here is the first part of the instructions I was given for the project:
Write a program that will determine the cost of a Yacht rental based upon yacht type, the size of the yacht and the number of hours the yacht is rented. There are three categories of yachts: Ranger, Catalina, and Excalibur; and three yachts sizes: 20 feet, 30 feet, and 40 feet. The rental cost is the yacht price multiplied by the number of hours rented. Create an array to hold the rental prices.
Use a data structure that contains the following fields: yacht type, yacht size, price per hour and cost of the rental. Limit the number of transactions to 20. Each time the Calculate Price button is pressed, look up the rental price from the price array and display it on the form along with the rental cost. Add the appropriate information to the data structure to create a transaction history.
Here's my code, the top with the variables:
vb.net
Public Class YachtRentalMainForm
'Variables
[CODE]...................
And here's my calculate button code where I'm having the most trouble:
vb.net
Private Sub CalculateButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CalculateButton.Click
[CODE]......................
I'm not getting errors anymore thankfully, but when I run the program... I choose my yacht type and size and input hours, it doesn't matter how many hours I put in - the price doesn't change. I know I'm missing something, maybe I've just been staring at it too long and need a fresh set of eyes to give it a look over and tell me what I'm missing? It also isn't calculating properly. 40 foot excalibur is supposed to charge $180 per hour and instead it's charging $125 flat rate.
Basically i have a query string that when i hardcode in the catalogue value its fine. when I try adding it via a variable it just doesn't pick it up.This works:
Dim WaspConnection As New SqlConnection("Data Source=JURA;Initial Catalog=WaspTrackAsset_NROI;User id=" & ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("WASPDBUserName") & ";Password='" & ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("WASPDBPassword").ToString & "';")
This doesn't:
Public Sub GetWASPAcr() connection.Open() Dim dt As New DataTable() Dim username As String = HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name
[code]....
When I debug the catalog is empty in the query string but the WASP variable holds the value "WaspTrackAsset_NROI"
Last year (2010) I came across a FANTASTIC command that allowed me to take a string of variables with a common delimiter and break it all back out into separate variables (possibly an array) with one statement.
[Code]...
As long as the delimiter was a unique specifiable character, this one-statement command could break it out into elements. my memory and point me in the right direction.
I got every other operation button to work besides sqrt, and percentage. I've done the same thing for addition, subtraction, etc. and it doesn't seem to work.
here's my globals
Public Class Form1 Private first As Double Private second As Double Private oper As String
I have a form that works on my local Machine I created into. I have Office 2007 on this machine. I created the Form with the Excel 12 Reference. I move the Entire conetence of the Project folder to my work computer. Which has Office 2003. Do I need to recreate the form with the Excel 11 reference. I could not get the form to work on work computer. IT has a com error. I am acessing the EXE for the debug folder w/in the Bin Folder.
i have set the loan_id column to increment in steps of 1, but when i add a column in visual studio 2008 express it auto increments in minus steps -1 -2 -3. it increments in positive numbers?
I have to write a program that allows users to specify two numbers and then adds, subtracts or multiplies them when the user clicks on the appropriate button. The out put should give the aritmatic performed and the result. I inserted an attachment on what it should look like also Public Sub btnCompute_Click() Handles btnCompute.Click " here at this one I am getting an error message Error 1 Statement is not valid in a namespace. C:\Users\Tiffney\Desktop\School projects\WindowsApplication1\Form1.vb 1 1 WindowsApplication1"
in my calculator script I'm trying to build I have a putton for pi, named Pi. The text on the button is pi. This is where the problem is. Up until now I've just been adding the value of the button to what I call the DisplayScreen (The textbox that outputs your answers), but Pi is not a number. And I want the value of the button to be Pi, not 3.14 whatever. This is what I have for the Pi
I have a small project from my university they have asked us to make a calculator , well everything is easy so far except the 3 last functions that I need help with.
as we all know vb has already some math functions implemented in its libraries the problem here those functions giving me wrong results I am trying to get math.tan(lblnum.text) math.sin(lblnum.text) and math.cos(lblnum.text)
they don't output the correct numbers any idea why?
I have 2 datetimepickers. I want one to display the current time and the other to display the time one hour ago: So far I can getb them both to display the current time:
Code: Dim TimeInterval As Integer = 60 Private Sub SustomizeGraph_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load TimeTo_dtp.CustomFormat = "HH:00"
No matter what I try, it never matches the sign. I even tried using the string as the pattern. This function should be able to take a string like 1 day -36mins + 2s -1s and parse it into a TimeSpan object. Any pointers?
I'm trying to learn LINQ to SQL. I've run into something I just don't get. Here's the LINQ program:[code]What I don't get is why there is a minus sign in the SQL before the math in the parentheses.I didn't specify that in the LINQ query.
I am new to visual basic 2008, and i started with simple project-calculator. I made it to the point where "+" sign works, and "=" sign execute the command of "+" sign. Now i try to make "-" sign work: the problem is, idk how to bind it with "=". Here is the
Public Class Form1 Dim total1 As Integer Dim total2 As Integer
just Addition only at this time each number 0 to 9 have this code[code].....here what he says..Write the code for the equals button. There's only three lines in total, and here's a little help.
You need to use the other variable that was set up at the top of the coding window, total2. The variable total1 will be added to whatever is total2.The first line of code will be this
total2 = total1 + (something missing here)
Your job is to supply the missing code. In other words, replace "(something missing here)"
Remember that total1 contains the first number to be added. And you know where that came from. The only thing left to do is to add the second number. For the second line of code, you need to transfer the total2 variable to the textbox. For the third line of code, all you are doing is resetting the variable total1 to zero. That's because after the equals button has been pressed, we have finished adding up. If you wanted to do some more adding up, that total1 will still hold the value from the last time. If you reset it to zero, you can start adding some new numbers.
I was trying to make a calculator which takes the amont of copies you want to make and it tells you the cost. Then you type in the amount you want to enter and if its less a message box comes up saying "please enter more money". I've had a few problems
1. when i use formatcurrency the program crashes for no apparent reason
2. if i calculate cost without entering any copies then it crashes (ive tried putting a msgbox in but it crashes anyway)
3. if i get the msgbox to come up saying "Please enter more money" i had to remove the formatcorrency tag.
