Check To See If TreeView Node Already Populatd 1 Level Down

Is there a way to tell when clicking on a node in a TreeView whether or not that node already has 1 level down populated within the control? That is, I have code which populates a TreeView 1 level down. I need to put some validation code which checks to see if this level has already been populated before the code that acutally populates it.

VS 2008 Attempting To Add 2'nd Parent Node To Treeview?

Jan 18, 2011

A form has a multi line textbox that is read line by line searching for "MSH". When found it adds that line as a parent to the treeview. each following line is added as a child. Works fine if only one "MSH" line but if more than 1 I get must clone or remove message. I did clone the message but I don't want a duplicate of what is there. I have tried several variations and have not been able to get the 2nd MSH to be added as a child but not parent.I have started to repeate code so was hoping some of you experts can point me in the correct direction. Here the section of code that partialy works.

Dim LoopK As Integer = 0
Dim New_MSH_Parent As String = "No"
Dim MSH_Node As New TreeNode() ' parent node

VS 2008 Treeview Highlight Node On Itemdrag Over?

Jan 27, 2012

I am working on an an explorer form project where I have one treeview and one listview. I have all of my drag and drop functionality working as expected. However, I would like to highlight the treeview node the user is hovering over when draging items from one folder to another. This is the same functionality as windows provides in windows explorer.

Thus far I have been successful in changing the backcolor of the node using the dragover event. However, once I move away from the node, the backcolor does not change back to white. I have looked at the dragleave event but my code does not seem to work in reverse. how I can change the backcolor after moving away from a node?

Private Sub TreeView_DragOver(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Handles TreeView.DragOver
Dim loc As Point = (CType(sender, TreeView)).PointToClient(New Point(e.X, e.Y))

VS 2008 Preventing A User From Selecting A TreeView Node?

I tried canceling the select action in the BeforeExpand event. It kind of works. It selects, then de-selects the item. I'm going to play around with other events to see

How To Create Multi-Level IF Statement

Apr 6, 2010

In my first application I need to create a multi-level "IF" statement and I am a little lost on how to proceed. The idea is to do figure out an estimate on costs based on the quantity of products being sold. I can do this in Excel, but the VB code escapes me.

So I'll show you in psuedo code what I want to do.
IF comboBoxA = 1 and comboBoxB = 1 then
value X
IF comboBoxA = 2 and comboBoxB = 1 then
value X
If comboBoxA > 3 and comboBoxB > 1 then
(comboxBoxA * costA) + (comboBoxB * costB) = Value X

I have another IF statement that will work off the calculations here. Haven't figured this one out yet, but I haven't gotten there yet in my form.
If Value X > Y Amount then
Offer product Z as a better idea

.net - Multi-level Inheritance With Implements On Properties?

Jun 18, 2010

Let's say I have 2 interfaces defined like so:

public interface ISkuItem
{
public string SKU { get; set; }
}

[Code]....

VB.NET explicitly requires you to add Implements IInterfaceName.PropertyName after each property that gets implemented whereas C# simply uses regions to indicate which properties and methods belong to the interface.

Interestingly in VB.NET, on the SKU property, I can specify either Implements ISkuItem.SKU or Implements ICartItem.SKU. Although the template built by VS defaults to ISkuItem, I can also specify ICartItem if I want. Oddly, because C# only uses regions to block out inherited properties, it seems that I can't explicitly specify the implementing interface of SKU in C# like I can in VB.NET.

My question is: Is there any importance behind being able to specify one interface or another to implement properites in VB.NET, and if so, is there a way to mimic this functionality in C#? Furthermore, what is the effect of specifying one interface over another when implementing properites?

C# - Multi-level Interface Inheritance With .NET And COM Interop

Jun 18, 2010

This question is a follow-up to my last question with a reference to COM Interop. Let's say I have the following 2 interfaces and implementing classes:

[Code]...

Interfaces are important in COM interop for exposing properties and methods to IntelliSense in the VB6 IDE (per this article). However, because ICartItem is inherited from ISkuItem, SKU is not explicitly defined in ICartItem and thus is not visible in IntelliSense in VB6 and even throws a compiler error when trying to write to objCartItem.SKU.

I've tried using Shadows and Overloads on the SKU property in ISkuItem, but then the compiler wants me to explicitly implement SKU for both ISkuItem and ICartItem within the CartItem class. I don't think that's what I want. Is there a way (in either VB.NET or C#) to explicitly declare the SKU property in ICartItem without having to declare SKU twice in the CartItem class?

.NET Custom UserControl With Structured/Multi-level Properties?

Aug 13, 2011

I can create a Custom UserControl with simple properties (Integer, String, etc) and have those properties show up in the Property Panel. I can also create a Custom UserControl with properties like Size, Rectangle, etc and the properties will show up as an expandable item in the Property Panel (click on the '+' and the Size expands to Width & Height).

Is it possible to create properties with my own custom structure? e.g. Property 'Message' expands to Text, ForeColor, BackColor, Blink etc. I have tried creating a property that references a simple class or structure with containing the properties representing my custom structure but in the Property Panel the property is greyed out and cannot be expanded or modified.

Asp.net - Find TreeView Node By Value?

Sep 15, 2011

All my TreeView nodes have a unique ID for their Node Depth.

I want to set Checked=True on the TreeView Node which matches a certain value.

Currently I'm doing the following:Dim value As Integer = 57

For Each n As TreeNode In tvForces.Nodes
If n.Value = value Then n.Checked = True
Next

Is there a better way of finding the Node which I want to set as Checked=True rather than looping through each node?

I'm looking for something like:Dim value As Integer = 57

n.FindNodesByValue(value)(0).Checked = True

Is there anything like this that I can use?

How To Sort TreeView Node

Mar 29, 2012

I have a treeview in my program that lists all the folders and files in my TV Video collection. The tree lists as follows:

TV Series
|___SeriesName

|___SeasonNumber

|___EpisodeName

The problem I am having is that the SeasonNumber node does not sort 'properly' as I would like it.

It sorts like:
Season1
Season10
Season2 etc.

Instead of:
Season1
Season2...
Season9
Season10 etc.

I have tried this:
Private Sub scanFilesList()
Dim sfilenames() As String = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(folderPath)
For Each strFileName As String In sfilenames
strFileName = GetFileName(strFileName)
tvVideoList.Nodes(n).Nodes.Add(vGroup, strFileName, 2, 2)
[Code] .....
As I understand it, this is supposed to sort ascending but it doesn't seem to change anything. I really only need to get the grandchild node sorted 'properly'.
