For this I'm porting one of my Python project in this programming language, project which (in Python) is scanning a directory for .py files and then imports them (dynamically) with the __import__ statement, at runtime. It is possible to do this in Visual Basic with .DLL classes?

Run A Python Script Inside A Application

Apr 17, 2011

I am trying to run a python script inside a vb.net application, which means executing the code inside vb.net instead of runing it external. The problem is:

I am using MsScriptControl and set the language to "python", I tried to run it and get the error "A script engine for the specified language can not be created". My research has told me i need these keys in my registry. The problem is I cant find them so how to I make them. Or even better a full solution to my problem.

Calling PythonFunction's From A VB Application Hosting Iron Python

Apr 17, 2012

I'm a C++ programming who was tapped to write a small application in Visual Basic. The application hosts an IronPython runtime and I am attempting to define some function in python and then call them from VB. I have written a simple test function in python

def test():
print "Test was Called"

Then I use the iron python to create a ScriptSource from the python file. I am able to look up the "test" variable through object operations but I can not figure out how to call the object that. For example (in VB):

pyScope = engine.CreateScope()
pySource = engine.CreateSourceFromFile("C:SomeFilepath est.py")
pySource.Execute(pyScope)

[Code]....

I am able to call the function and I see the expected output at stdout. I am still under the impression that there is some function-pointer-like type that I can cast objects of type PythonFunction to which will let me invoke temp directly without calling to the Python engine.

Component Can't Create Object Win 2008 64 Bit

Jan 4, 2011

My app is a classic vb6 app. I have distilled my problem down to fact that an activeX control can't be registered on Win 2008 64 Bit using Regsvr32 but can be registered on Win 2008 32 bit and on Windows 7, Vista, XP/Pro, Win 2000 etc. The classic vb6 app works well on every Microsoft platform except Win 2008 64 Bit. Some Win 2008 64 Bit systems seem to work and we're not sure why, but many don't. The application fails with 429 error when run and when you try to manually register the activex component using regsvr32, the registration process hangs with this result[code]...

VS 2008 Use The New Keyword To Create Object Instance

Apr 13, 2010

VB is telling me to use the "NEW" keyword to create an object instance. For example: Private Sub ScoreTotal(ByVal sender..., ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ListBox1.SelectedIndexChanged

[Code]....

When I run the "MainStudentScores" form and click on a student with three scores separated by the "|", it should give me a Score Total, Score Count, and Average. However it is giving me an error message at "Scores.Add(intPlaceHolder)" This is where VB is telling me to use the "NEW" keyword. Does this make sense?

How To Import Form1 Object Value And Calculate It In Form2

Mar 18, 2010

So the application I'm writing code for is this:

A fancy bed and breakfast offers the following, though somewhat usual, rate structure:
Single room $150 per night
Double room $175 per night
Family room $200 per night
Suite $ 250 per night

The bed and breakfast also offers the following meal plans
Breakfast only $10 per day
Breakfast and lunch $15 per day
Breakfast lunch and dinner $25 per day

Create a VB 2008 application with two forms. One form holds the room type (Single, Double, Family and Suite), and the other holds the meal plans. The user should select a room type and a meal plan, and the application should show the total charges multiplied by each day the user stays at the bed and breakfast. So far I've created one form with Bed plans and the second form with meal plans. First form has a continue button so that I can load second form and the code for that event is:

Dim SecondForm As New frmSecondForm
SecondForm.Show()

Then I've meal plan choices in second form and a text box for number of nights and a display cost button. So when I click on Display cost button, I want to be able to add the bed plan into total cost. How do I connect these two forms?

Asp.net Application To Import Its Own Namespace?

Jul 20, 2010

I just converted UberSite, a vb.net web site to a web application. I get run-time errors saying that there is no such thing as type foo. When I drill down to the page in the code-view, it gives me an error-correction suggestion: import namespace UberSite.

If I create a new web application and define foo there, there is no need to import any namespace to use foo in the new application.

How can this be? Why does my web application seemingly need to import its own namespace?

Create XSD And XML Document From Dataset - References Xsd Import Xml To Excel

Mar 16, 2012

I have read and googled a ton of xml documentation but haven't quite gotten an answer to what Im trying to do. I am trying to create an XSD document that generates explicit type definitions for fields in the dataset. I am then trying to create a sample XML document that validates against the XSD document.

This works fine inside of visual studio because I can read in the schema and the document and it validates BUT, the xml document created has no real reference to the XSD via xlmns or other method. If I want to use this xml data in say MS Excel and I try to import it doesn't know where the XSD is to validate against so it assumes it based on the values. Is there a way in my code to add the xlmns to both the XSD and XML if that is what is needed to solve this? [Code]
