VS 2008 Determine If An Image Is In A Directory Or Not?
Feb 2, 2010
Is this possible ? Im creating a desktop wallpaper changer using a timer to set a delay between images. the images im my directory folder is numbered from 1-15. If you look at the pic below theres an option to select how many images the user wants to display on the slideshow, if a user selects up to 15 thats fine. But what can i do if the user enters a number that exceeds the number of images in the directory.
I am using a webbrowser control, which is used for both internet and folder exploring. How can I determine when viewing files on the local directory, which file is selected?
I ran across something in my searches saying there was a property under the webbrowser.document called SelectedItem. But this must not be in 2008.
First off a short background of the project I am working on- I am developing a program that will be run off removable media (i.e. USB Flash drive). This will be a virtual desktop which you will be able to take with you and have the same desktop on any system. As we know drive letters can change with each host system the drive is plugged into, I need to be able to determine the path for the flash drive and access a specific folder ( i.e. My Documents)
I have an picture box(representing the icon) placed on my form (form1) and when I click the icon I want to be able to open and view the a specific folder from the portable drive. I need a click event that will determine a dynamic drive letter for a directory on the removable drive and then open that directory in an explorer window.
I'm trying to copy a image for a directory, that my program create if it doesn't exists. The directory is create successfully but the image isn't copy. The error is "couldn't find a part of path".
Here is my vb Private Sub btImg_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btImg.Click Try If Not IO.Directory.Exists("img") Then IO.Directory.CreateDirectory("img") [Code] .....
I have some code that allows the user to browse for an image and then when that image is opened, it is copied to a new directory. This all works fine, but I would like to know if there is a way to create a thumbnail of this image and save it into a subdirectory inside the directory where the original image has already been copied?
I wanted to create a login system that would have 3 tabs 1 for regular login, 1 for admin login and 1 for account creation. So far so good. It saves the accounts by saving them in a .urs file in the map called /Users/. However when this map does not exist it will show a error. I would want to know what code or so to put into the form_load which will make my program create the map /Users/ if it does not exist. As im not familiar with all the codes and stuff. The only thing i can come up with is
Mkdir "/Users/"
but then ofcourse it would create the folder users everytime i start the program. not i was still "Hello Worlding" a few days ago, so i really am unfamiliar with any sort of high-skilled programming which i probably dont understand.
In my installer class, I want to check the existince of a file in the same directory that the setup msi is launched from. How do I determine the directory the MSI is launched from, from within the Installer Class? My installer class is launching succesfully and is able to process a file if I hard code the name and location. My goal is to remove that hard coded reference.
I'm doing some directory work and in this directory, some of the subdirectories are symbolic links to a different location. I need to be able to determine which directly is a symlink and process them differently.
How can I determine whether the person using my app has permission to create and write to a file in a given directory? I would prefer to not use some sort of try/catch.
I am trying to detemine whether an image is currently displayed on the screen or not, even if only in a given location on the screen since I will know the exact pixels it will display it & everything but I am having a hard time trying to determine whether an certain image is there or not.
I have an image resembling a chessboard inside a picturebox displayed on the screen at runtime. I am using Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2008. I need to determine when a user clicks on a particular part of the image. I am able to do this without a problem when debugging on my computer, where I can experiment with trial-and-error clicking to get the screen coordinates of the portion of the image of interest. Everything changes, however, when the program is run on a screen with a different resolution and coordinates.
I can easily get the coordinates for the picturebox that contains the image using PointToScreen. However, there seems to be no such property for the image within the picturebox, which is what I need.
so my application (Visual Basic 2010) is making use of Image Magick, via the COM object. If the COM is not installed then my application crashes (not surprising). How can I detect if the COM has been installed, so abort and tell the user to install it?
I'm attempting to write a solution so that my user's can "watermark" their Images with their Company Logo. I've got the actual watermarking part done and working so now I'm creating the "upload logo" feature so that they can provide me with the Logo they wish to appear watermarked onto their Images.I'm using VB.NET and this will probably end up in a Web Service that accepts the Logo JPG file, and returns the "altered" Logo. What I need to happen in this Web Service is:
1) Gray-scale the image. Which I have working as well, thanks to this article.
2) Make the background transparent (so the logo looks clean when watermarked onto an image). This is where I'm stuck.
I think for the most part, any logos that are uploaded will have a generic white background but I can't assume that. Is there a way to somehow detect the background of an image or the background colors, so that I may make those colors transparent? So basically what I need is just a way to determine the background on an Image or even just the background colors so that I may make them transparent.
ive been have a bit of a problem with copying a file to another directory. In my app i display an image, i provide an browse for a new picture button. This feature will copy the file from the users choosen directory and copy it and place it into a specific directory. The problem imhaving is the image i want to replace is in use by the app and wont change.i use picturebox.dispose() to free up the image in memory but it doesnt seem to work.
I am trying to display an image from a Virtual Directory that is within my website. If I use the follwoing code the image is displayed on the on the Page:
Dim sourcefile As String = Server.MapPath("~/Common/Images/Flag.jpg") Response.WriteFile(sourcefile) Response.ContentType = "image/jpg"

Dim sourcefile As String = Server.MapPath("~/Common/Images/Flag.jpg") Image1.ImageUrl = sourcefile
Here is the HTML/ASP code:
<div id="contentQE"> <fieldset> <span class="graytitle">The Flag Image
What I'm trying to do is upload a file (image) to (possibly) a new directory. My logic is as follows; If NOT Directory("[URL]" + UserID).Exists CreateDirectory("[URL]" + UserID) UploadImage("[URL]" + UserID, Image) Else UploadImage("[URL]" + UserID, Image) End If Is there a way to do this with WebClient or HttpWebRequest?
I'd like to verify if an image control has an image loaded . If it does , I want to unload that image (and load no image) , but if the image control has no image loaded , I want to load an image . Is it possible ?
If ImageMY.Image.Equals(Nothing) Then ImageMY.Image = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile("C:ImageBlaBlaBla.jpg") Else
I am working on a school project to display a photo of a professor when their name is selected using a RadioButton and to display their name, office office hours and so on.
I have their Photos in a directory on my computer
Theonly thing I cannot figure out is how to use 1 picturebox and link the image to display to the radiobutton.
I have tried all kinds of queries on the internet and cannot locate the answer. There might be something with an Image.FromFile command I saw but that might have been from a previous version of VB and I could not get it to work in VB9.
I want to add all image files in the current directory into my listbox1 when i press button1 Just like how u may open by OpenFileDialog or Drag & Drop but I want it to move all .jpg files in the current directory into the listbox so i do not have to use OpenFileDialog or Drag & Drop I am not sure how I can do this and the only code I could think about using is something linking to current directory.
How do i determine the pixel width and pixel height of the largest image i can paint onto the graphics object of a printer while inside a printpage event?
How do I determain the servername that I should point to?
Here is my
Public Class frmViewReport Private Sub frmViewReport_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ViewReport("C:a2.rtp", , "@parameter1=testmter2=10")
[code]....
Now... It seems to be unhappy with the following statement and I think it might be because I provided the wrong servername?
I am writing a service (service.exe) which I will be installing multiple times on a server with different display names (service1, service2,... servicen).Based on the display name the service will perform slightly different operations (e.g. monitor a different COM port). How can I programmatically determine the display name to find out which instance is executing?
