What I'd like to do is in my application move a control like a groupbox or frame with content on it from e.g the main form to a tabpage on that same main form using code.
I can change the position of the control using it's location, but I haven't got a clue on how to move it from the main form to a tabpage, or from 1 tabpage to another.
-Is this at all possible and if so, how can it be achieved?
I have a SCADA program I'm working on, I need to add sum sort of paging when the user hits the page up/down button. I have about 100 station to show. I can fit 28 stations on one screen at 1280 X 1024.
View 4 RepliesI have need for a customised form as the main page of my app, what I'm looking for is to create an amoebic shaped form, something like this. I realize that my 'window' will by nature need to be rectangular and that i will need it to have no titlebar and transparent edges, also i will need to have 'regions' on this form that will allow the form to be closed and turned into a standard rectangular form. I have no idea where to begin with doing this but I hope and presume it is possible with vb.net. The image I have used is for illustrative purposes only, i don't plan to do exactly this (my app is a database not a media player for one thing) If having it is a breach of copyright in this context I will remove it.

View 12 RepliesI've got a Panel on a main Form containing a PictureBox control on Top of a TableLayout control. Both the child controls have their docking properties set to Top. The Picture control has sizemode set to Zoom.
What I'm finding is that the picture doesn't size properly when I start the app. There is a border at the top and bottom in the PictureBox control. It's only when I resize the overall form that it's correct.
So at the moment I've got this ugly bit of startup code, just to fix the problem Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Normal Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
What am I missing?
I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.

I am looking for a way to be able to use the tab control on my main form and transfer all 3 other forms onto that main form that has the tab control. Does not move the other controls on the form around but displays over them That it can show the details outside the bounds of the user control itself without having to reserve the space ahead of time

Now my issue is as the form moves or resizes the Tooldropdown does not move relative. I understand that. When I try to capture the move event of the user control that event does not fire when the entire form moves. There has to be something I can capture because the controls in the container of the form move relative, what drives that? I tried wndproc but nothing fires during form move unless the form is repainted.
How do you get it so when you resize the form, the buttons move with the re sized form and they don't just disappear?
View 5 RepliesI want to create a notes app for Windows Phone 7 using Visual Basic.I have read a few tutorials but they are all suited for C# not VB. Basically, I have a main page and a page to add notes. Once the user types out a note on the add notes page, the title of that note appears on the main page. I also want the user to be able to select that title and it will display the note. I have done a bit of research and I know I will need to use isolated storage (not sure how to implement it in VB) to save the notes. I think I will also need a list box that will store the title of the notes.

I was hoping I could move the .wav private subs into a separate class, and just call them from my main form, therefore cleaning up the lines of code I have at the moment. View 8 RepliesI have an app that connects to a remote database.The connection to the database is triggered by the form load event of the main start up form which prompts the user for user name and a password.Here is my problem:Sometimes it takes a number of seconds for the database connection to be established after the user has double clicked the desktop icon. this means that during this period it appears that no action is taking place until the startup form becomes visible.Some impatient users assume that nothing is happening and double click the icon again.What I want to do is to have a graphic image or something pop up on the screen immediately when the program starts that displays something like 'Connecting To Database, please be patient"
