Aug 16, 2009im looking for a way to have my program wait a certain amount of seconds before it goes on to the next command, ive tried the sleep command but that freezes up my program and i cannot let that happen, ive heard of using timers as a delay but i don't really know how to do that.

Jul 27, 2009I have a form with binding sources and a method for saving the data.[code]I was testing to see what would happen if the operator tried entering duplicate data in the primary key field. They exception occurred as I expected but the program gets stuck at that point. The exception messagebox just keep redisplaying when you click OK. I'm fairly new to .Net, but this code is how the help files show updating a TableAdapter using the "Try/Catch".

Oct 30, 2009Is it possible to pass data between a MODULE in Access and a VB2008 app?
To be more specific, suppose a VB app calls a MODULE in a access DB and the job of the module is to count the number of records that have "Joe" in a column. I know this can be done with a SELECT within the bindingsource BUT in some instances, it is much faster to pass the task to Access and return the result.
So - can an Access MODULE RETURN a value back to a VB app?

Mar 8, 2012I was messing around with the listview Control first,, And when i got it working i thought what's this backgroundworker thing,,so i read up on what info MS had on the MSDN page..and slapped it in here..and i thought i had it working ok until i tried to move my project application to the side to reply to a instant message i got..and then i noticed that it froze up .and looked like it was using alot of system resources,But wait let me back up just a bit.originally i was trying it with a fairly small number of items, and then i seen on here where someone had posted a rather large index for testing his app with,,and while trying to load that list that's when the issue was noticed i don't really plan on loading a list as big as that test index was but, I would still like to know why the program did what it did using the code below.I'm not really asking for it to be too altered, i kinda like all the controls i have in it the moment,, and the way it loaded as well.

[2008] Download Files Without App Freezing?

In this app I'm developing, I am downloading a file when a user clicks a button. However, since the file is 20mb or so, its kinda unfortunate that the application hangs while doing it...
Do I have to go into multithreading here, or is there a simpler solution? (Or maybe multi-threading is simple?)

Feb 25, 2009I have a simple program with a web browser control and a button that causes it to navigate to a certain web page, as well as an input and another button for entering a url directly.Everything was working fine until I started messing with the document completed event in the control.The form loads a url initially and after that 80% of the time it freezes when clicking the button or entering a new url. I deleted the document completed code and now it still freezes a majority of the time.

Dec 20, 2009I developped a small application with two date time pickers and a button user controls and it exports datatables to excel sheets. its working perfect on my pc using windows vista and office 07. but when i tested it on another machine using windows 2000 and office2000 i got the following error:

Feb 23, 2010With a Time value in my program. Basically, I am importing a travel Time from a database e.g. 3:45 so it takes 3 hrs and 45 minutes to get from a to b. I then want to double this - 3:45 * 2 = 7:30, and then want to multiply it by a cost e.g. travel is charged at 25 per hour. so it would be total travel time = 7:30. Travel cost = 25. Total Travel Cost = 7:30 * 25. In the access db, it is stored as a text field, and then imported in vb as a string.

I want to create a variable in xaml, the angle that a control is currently at, and then use this variable in my VB code (event handler).
