Got a bit of a weird problem with a progress bar. I'm using a backgroundworker, which calls a "Process" function in a different class. The function goes about its business, and sends an update back to the form displaying the progress bar. What I'm finding is that its doing everything right, except update the progress and a label on the form. I've put breakpoints in to check the values of variables being sent to the form, and they're correct. I've also checked the value/maximum of the progress bar during the same break as I step through, and they're being set correctly.
they're just not displaying their updated status. I've tried refresh and application.doevents, to no avail. When the backgroundworker is complete, the values of the progress bar/label are as if I've never touched them! When the worker is complete, the Close button is enabled, so I know its finished. Anybody got any pointers/thoughts on this because I've been battling with this for a day and a half so far. I'm using the same technique as I've used elsewhere in the app to do similar backgroundworker progress updates, but this one refuses to work properly.

im making a tabbed web browser, and wondered if i can add a label and see what the page is loading, similar to other browsers like in the bottom left EG. "Connecting to [url]" etc. Note, im using TabControl, so commands like "WebBrowser1.Stop()" etc, will not work for me.
I'm using WinXP Professional and VB 2008 Express Edition. I need to check the LPT1 and LPT3 pins for its status high or low. I am new to VB programming and I need to interface LPT
im trying to detect if the connection is still active upon trying to send or receive anything. Now I have checks in place if it's connected then it will send or receive however... it's saying it's connected when it is not connected... and therefore my program tries to send and receive and errors.
I am determining if it is ok to send and receive by using the Socket.Poll(-1, SelectMode.SelectWrite)
if it's true then im connected and data can be passed..This seems to always be true until I send something and it fails..How can I catch the socket not being connected before it fails upon sending or receiving?
I have done the PING part, you click a button the it ping's the server IP Address, then return's the result via a label. I want to make one so it check's the HTTP status of the server and if it's on it display's a green circle with a label next to it saying HTTP Status is OK.
I work as an IT Administrator and manage a few Servers, Routers, VPN Connections over a number if locations. What I am wanting to do is create a vb.net app that will go out and ping say every 2-5mins each of the servers, routers, that are listed and then shows beside the Hostname a Green Circle which means online and if its a Red Circle its offline, and the screen refreshes if their is a problem or a device / service comes back online.
Then if its offline email a particular email address showing the hostname of either the server or router and which location saying its offline. If possible to make it easier to change the devices to show possible have a txt file or something like that with the Hostname, IP Address, Location.
