I'm trying to make a textbox either fully or partially transparent, so you are typing over whatever is behind the textbox. I need it to actually be transparent and not just have the illusion of transparency, because I'm going to put a control behind the text box so the user can enter text over the other control to line up the characters. I have found dozens of threads and pages about doing this and they are all drastically different and none of them seem to work at all
I recieved a gift recently visual studio 2010 ultimate a nice suprise I have been repairing and building PC's and networks for years working in local shops and buisnesses, but always wanted to learn programming so my GF purchased this for me nice suprise. So here is my beginner question. I am making a program that will take check info ( check number, amount, date and person or buisness wrote to). I have no plans on using it just trying to learn variable structures and arrays and thought this type of program was a good start. Now I would like to take the text of a text box in runtime and use that to input a new check number into the variable structure. Just so I am not confusing anyone I will write the basic code
[Code]....
So what I would like to do is use a textox labeled check number to add check numbers into the checkrecord structure instead of having to add them into the code manually is this possible?
I have a Text Box that display the Temperature in Real Time. And I have a other Text box that have a Set Temperature. When the Real Temperature Reaches the Set Temperature it trigger a led. I got it working but I have to keep clicking on the button I made for it to work, is there some other way loop maybe?
This is my code Private Sub TempHigh_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TempHigh.Click Dim Temp, InTemp As Integer Temp = CTemp.Text InTemp = TempNumH.Text [Code] .....
How would one be able to sync the cursor on a web browser to the html placed in a richtextbox?I am able to get the source code of a web page and put it into a rich textbox. How can I setup a caret to sync up in real time with my mouse on the web page?
I am working on an application which has transparent forms. By using transparency, I am smoothing the edges of the forms. I have got a bitmap which I set as background image of the form. I use red as form's transparency key. Although transparency works fine when my computers display is set to 24 bit color, when I change the setting to 32 bits, transparency doesn't work. In this case, users who have 32 bit color dept setting on their systems will not be able to use my application. When I searched the web, I found some solutions such as using bitmap.maketransparent command, or using magenta color for transparency key or using 32 bit bmp files etc. However none of them worked for me. Some forums suggest that this is a bug and there is no way to solve this problem. But if so, why some applications such as Winamp can display transparent forms although my color dept is set to 32 bit! I am sure there is a solution. I am working on VB.NET 2008 and my OS is Windows Xp Service Pack 2. Please help me about this subject.
Is there a way of making a Picture Box have a transparency so that any objects (e.g buttons) that are layered underneath the picture box will be shown through?
Or if there is any other way of getting the mouse coordinates only on the form. So when the mouse cursor is placed at 20,20 on the form it will give back the coordinates 20,20 no matter where the form is placed on the screen
I did a test using AxShockwaveFlash1, and while I set the WMode to Transparent, and tested the form, the transparency didn't work! How am I supposed to make it transparent?
I have one question. I have two PictureBoxes, one PictureBox is under other. When i'm loading PNGs with transparency, they not transparent! How can i fix that with code?
I used my forms TransparencyKey property to make the form background invisible, but to keep the controls 100% visible. But, when I add a label onto the form, a border or outline shows up around the text (doesn't matter which color I do it with). My friend says that this isn't fixable and he said that it doesn't happen in VB6. I'm tempted to remake the project in VB6, but Windows 7 is being released soon and compatibility is a must.
What about C#? Does the issue occur as well? If not I'll just go with that.
How can I ensure that my program function can only run once a time per day? I wonder how did those commercial software that did something like 30 times/days trial. How did they store the value in the sense that altering the system date and time would not prolong the trial. Currently I am thinking of validating the date through internet time since it can't be alter by user. After which, I will store the value online. However, this does not seems to be feasible if its an offline application. I wonder is the any other better way to do it?
it loads the username in to the comboox was woundering if you can tell me how to get it so when i choose the username it puts there real name in to the text box named txtFull for example. This is the code to load in to a combobox?
Currently, my circuit is connected to a power supply and is connected to the computer via a RS232 cable. Voltage level is extracted and the real-time voltage level is plotted (see attached image) and it will keep movingBut you will realise that there isnt any time shown on the X-axis. I would like to display time in such a way:Each long marker will represent 1 second and there are 4 long marker, which will represent up to 4 seconds. When the (5th second) voltage is sense and the real-time voltage is drawn, i would like the new time (5th second) to replace into the 1st marker postion, the (6th second) to replace the 2nd marker position, so on and so forth. The replacement will continue
I need to capture what keys the user presses and put it in a textbox. However, I need to capture multiple combination. For instance, if the user presses (and briefly holds) SHIFT and 1 (number one) the text box should say "SHIFT + 1." I also want "real time" capturing, meaning as the user presses the keys the value changes.
PHP Dim searcher As ManagementObjectSearcher = New ManagementObjectSearcher("SELECT * FROM Win32_PhysicalMedia") For Each wmi_HD As ManagementObject In searcher.Get() MessageBox.Show(wmi_HD("SerialNumber")) Next I am using this code for getting hard drive serial number its works ok with me but not working on my friends system and return an empty string.
I am busy with a VB2008 EXPRESS program that reads is data via a network cable. Saving the data on the same computer as my program is not a problem, but I must also make this data available to other users in the network and update their screens in real time. In other words I need a COPY of my running program on each networked computer when requested by the user in the network. I have looked at SQL, XML pages and inheritance. But I am confused, what is the best way???
I have a machine which creates a new log file at the beginning of the day(12am) and updates the log file whenever there is any changes until the end of the day. How do I import the data in real time (30 sec, 1min or whenever there is any changes) to my SQL server database? Will SQL Server 2008 be able to access the active log file? If not will it be easier if I let my machine create a new log file whenever there is any updates? But if it is so, how do I import so many log files with different names in real time. (I must be able to scale the solution up to multiple machines).
Ive been programming in VB6 for years, i figured its time for an upgrade. Here's what im doing, and what the problem is:
Im loading a bunch of pictures on top of one image. They are all PNG files, and some of the images have transparent edges, and some semi-transparency within the image itself.
So basically, i need to be able to load these images on top of the other images, and still maintain the transparency.
Is this possible in VB08? This is one of the main reasons i moved to 08 from vb6, more things possible including multithreading.
I typed this question once already, hit preview, and somehow never got the preview and lost what I typed. It has been that kind of a day.So here is my quick overview then I am going shopping. I am using OLE DB to select from an excel spreadsheet. It has over 15000 rows and 33 columns. Sometimes even when a cell is not null, it is returning a null value. If I just do a "select * where [termination date] is not null", for example, it will return no rows even though I can see with my own eyes that sometimes termination date is not null.
how can i control swf background transparency in vb.net either with flash.ocx or if there is any other way.so that if i have a swf animation block with red in background and some text written with yellow. now how can i remove that red background in vb.net.actually i want to make a system so that i can choose any color as transparency key for swf like in tv channels logos.
how you can get image transparency to come through in Visual Basic? Because if you try to put an image with some transparent sections on it on a form, the transparency turns into the form background colour (Though you could change the background image to whatever you want displayed under the image, but that's not the point) and basically I can't find any way to do irregular transparencies.
Alright, that's not very simple. I'll try to give an example:
You have an animated GIF of...say...fireworks. And it has a transparent background. Now say you have a few labels with text in them. When you draw the picturebox over the labels, the text in the labels is covered by the background of the fireworks, even though it's transparent. You can't see the labels. You want to see the fireworks exploding over the text
I can't see any way of getting around this, other than doing it in another program and putting the text and fireworks into one PictureBox. but it would be so convenient if it could work in Visual Basic, because you can control the text the in the labels and keep the animated "fireworks" exploding at the same time without using multiple animated images.
Is it possible to have transparency on a form but not on a button on the form?I know transparency can be controlled for the form in properties (VB 2005), but how can we isolate the button from being affected?
Right now I currently have an array of pictureboxes, and over them I want another large picturebox that has a sort of transparent fog effect. I created a png with this and made sure to save the alpha transparency, however when the picturebox shows up, you are not able to see underneath it. Is there anyway to fix this without using the GDI instead of pictureboxes? Because of the way the program is set up, I think GDI would be too slow for my purposes.
The 1st problem: I set the transparency key to a color and then set the forms background color to that color, and then set the background image to an image with rounded edges to give my form rounded edged. But the corners look VERY jagged.
The 2nd problem: Is there a way to make a form appear in the lower right corner above the task bar? Kind of like Avasts virus database definition update window.
