i need to access to a special folder and operate there, but i don't have permission to do this, how i can set permission to access to special folder and delete/create files?

I created a program which was deleting a particular directory for me. The program was compiled and working. Today I run the same program...did not do any system updates and now it won't delete my specified directory. I ran tests to make sure the directory is there when testing...I keep getting access/permission errors.
I rebooted system, ran my application...still gave me error. I turned off Windows Defender...still got error. If I manually delete the directory...no problem.
Is there a way to get system permission to delete the directory? I am being given an 'access denied' error...I do not have permission. I tried running my application as administrator...no good. - VB 2008 Express - VISTA OS

I have an issue with the Windows permission system. And every time it tries to do something that needs a windows permission (to be ran as administrator) it fails !
At the moment I was trying to implement an updater which should download a file from an ftp site but because copying a file into one of the program files folder requires a permission I am not able to do this.
I'm using this code to delete all the downloads from the download folder.

View 2 RepliesI've set up a basic loop to delete all the files in a particular folder. I've set the loop in a Try block so it doesn't crash the application when it gets to a file it can't delete. I'd like for the app to just pass over these type of files. At the moment, my loop stops completely when it gets to that exception.

View 6 RepliesMy program takes screen shots and saves them but i want to incoorporate a function that allows a user to delete all the images in the file they choose to save them into [code] And its not working the program names each image after the frame that it was taken, ie the first frame is called 1 the second two etc..I want to delete all of the files and the folder that they were saved in but this way doesnt work and is not horribly efficient.filedir is a textbox on the form that the user inputs a save location so thats what i am using to determin files to delete.

Im working on an AutoUpdate class for a small application I've been working on, and with Windows 7 and Vista machines I get a permissions error when trying to replace some of the files in the Application folder. The only way to get it work is to run the application as an administrator. Is there a way I can either attempt to automatically run the app as administrator, or a way of replacing the files that won't be blocked by Vista/7's permission gatekeepers?

View 5 RepliesI am trying to import a bunch of excel 2003 files all with A:H columns and they are under the same headings etc. into a table in access 2003 database. This is a module in access im making. Im using a file search to look for every file that begins with Format (which they all do ) to get at all the files in the folder path. is there a more efficient way to do this? somehow select all files in a folder? and import each to the same table in access? The DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet seeems to take each file path individually so I'm not sure how to get each file name in the folder to import it.

Ok I know this question has been asked to death but I still have not seen a good answer. I have created an application in VS2010 using VB.NET. In my application I have an error log that is an XML file located in the Public gstLocalErrorLogLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "ErrorLog"that gets written to in the event of an error so I can trouble shoot application easier. My application also downloads files from our FTP site and puts the files in Public gstLocalDownloadLocation As String = Application.StartupPath & "download"So I have files that get read and written to as well and created and deleted all in the Application.StartupPath which is either "c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" or "c:Program Files (x86)(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File)" depending on 32bit or 64bit Windows 7.
After creating the setup I install it on my test machine that have both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.Everything in the application works great till I have to write to, delete or creat a file in those directories above. I know it is an access issue and the UAC. This will get installed on numerous systems so the options I have seen to change file or folder permission on the computers manually is not an option.What has to happen is after I install the application it just works like when you install it on XP. Some post have suggested that you us a user with administrator privilages or group which is all fine and dandy but the user I have used to test the application has all of that.
So what I am asking is how do you create an application with VS2010 in VB.NET that after creating a setup package and installing on Windows 7 will just work with out "Access to the path c:Program Files(Application Directory)(Some Directory)(Some File) is denied." If I have to install this on 100 Windows 7 computers it has to be a concreate no manually doing anything just install and work like when we installed on XP.
After I run the setup to install the program, I will use the program to capture image and answer a survey.Having said that, I have a folder contains image of image capture and database using Ms Access 2007 in my program . Is it possible to make it both in one zip folder (Embedded both together in one folder and locate it in desktop?
