VS 2010 - Applying Different Color On Default Cursor?
Jan 18, 2012
In my program I have a picturebox. using the .onEnter and .onLeave events for the mouse I have the cursor change to a cross (one of the default cursors) and it does like a transparent grayscale thing and changes color a bit depending on what is behind it. The issue with that is that all the images I look at are grayscale images so it gets a bit lost. I am wondering if there is a way to use this default cursor and apply a different color to it?

Basically I found a code that could find the color under the mouse cursor and put it in a picturebox's backcolor. So I wrote the code
Timer1.tick
If picturebox1.backcolor = color.dimgray then
call apimouseevent(1)
But all this would do is spam click over any color. Any code that gets the color under the cursor then performs a click when the color under the cursor is for example 'dimgray'.

This VS010 solution is not providing my intended outcome as a custom override of a 'crosshair' or 'reticle' cursor e.Graphics.DrawPath() is the function that isn't working. This
WORKING solution demonstrates how it's supposed to work. The additonal PictureBox added to a Panel is, for reasons I don't understand, not allowing the 'new' cursor to appear.

I am using API calls to transform a Bitmap object. I have various physical transformations (rotation, flipping, scaling, displacement) as well as some colour adjustments (inversion, brightness and contrast)Everything works fine except for when I use the rotation or shear transformations in combination with the colour adjustment. In that case the colours revert to the original image.The interesting thing about this problem is that it seems to be dependent on the off-diagonal factors (eM12 and eM21 below) in the XForm matrix. For example, here is the rotation matrix:
Public Sub RotateClockwise(Radians As Single)
With XFormMatrix
.eM11 = Cos(Radians)[code]....
is there some way I can use both SetWorldTransform and SetColorAdjustment when using non-zero values for the off-diagonal factors in my XForm transformation?

I'm very new to VB and am struggling with a problem! I have a form with mutiple (100) textboxes and buttons. I have set the properties of some of the buttons so that the text is draggable, but I want to be able to drag it to every textbox. I have posted a snippet of code below that allows me to drag ot to box 1 and 2, but is there any way that I can set it to drag to all boxes without having to individually specifying them? The same goes for dragging text between boxes...i'm sure there must be some way of specifying multiple drag and drop locations without the laborious task of specifying each as an individual sub? Code below

1. I have a custom cursor that won't display in color, no matter what I do.
2. Can I have Animated Cursors?
3. Why doesn't VB.net support 32 bit cursors, but only 8 bit?
4. Can I have a cursor thats greater than 32x32?

I have a combobox which contains a sample of names selected from a table.Currently the default name displayed in the box is the 1st name found in the table. What I would like to do is display the name of the person who is doing the selection as the default. The name is stored in a public variable 'PubName' and I do not want the user to be able to type into the combobox themselves.Is this possible?

I am building a data entry form. I have code that runs when the 'submit' button is clicked to check that all required fields are populated; if not, the missing fields are hilighted in red:
Sub validatefields()
saveOK = True
If Trim(Me.cmbBillCat.Text) = "" Then
saveOK = False
Me.cmbBillCat.Appearance.BackColor = Color.Tomato
End If
My problem arises when I want to reset the color back to normal. In my form when you click Cancel or move to a new record, all fields are disabled (set to read only) until the 'Edit' button is clicked. Visually this is represented by the field backgrounds being gray. VB.Net automatically changes the text box/combo boxes backcolor to gray when I disable them. However, once I have explicitly changed a control's backcolor, thereafter disabling it does not change its color to gray.
[Code]...
I have tried changing the backcolor to System.Drawing.SystemColors.Window, but the problem is the same. The control whose color has been changed is disabled (won't accept entry) but the backcolor remains white, no matter how many times DisableFields() is issued.

I have a form with buttons, and the user can change the colors of the buttons with the color dialog box for fun:
Button_Play.BackColor = ColorDialog.Color
There is a reset button to put the colors to how they were without any special coloring, but I can't get them to go back to how they originally looked.They go to gray in the middle, instead of the nice shaded blue/gray style. I have tried a few different things:
Button_Play.BackColor = Button.DefaultBackColor
Button_Play.BackColor = SystemColors.Control
Button_Play.BackColor = Color.Empty

I'm trying to set a new cursor position but I get this error:
A call to PInvoke function 'mon! WindowsApplication1.Form1::SetCursorPos' has unbalanced the stack. This is likely because the managed PInvoke signature does not match the unmanaged target signature. Check that the calling convention and parameters of the PInvoke signature match the target unmanaged signature.
Here is the code:
Declare Function SetCursorPos Lib "user32" _
(ByVal x As Long, ByVal y As Long) As Long
SetCursorPos(457, 603)
It used to work when I used VS 08 but now I use VS 10 and this problem has started to appear.
