VS 2010 Custom Control KeyPress Event

I was asked to create an application that has a custom control that acts as a button. I managed to do almost all the requirements except the one for the KeyPress event. The customer wants to click the "Alt + C (for example)" to trigger the button click event in this case for a Cancel button. I did the code and it works fine ONLY when that custom control has the focus on it. But when it loses it, it doesn't. I don't know how to make the form accepts that KeyPress and sends to the custom control. I tried to set the form's KeyPreview property of the form to Ture but it didn't work too.
By the way, I know that it would work by writing the code in the KeyPress of the form but that's not the requirement because the user control will be used as a standalone component for many projects.

As part of a program that I am composing, the user needs to enter a value by way of a NumericUpDown control on one particular form. Once this and other criteria have been evaluated, the program will then move to the next "step" of the program. If they use the spinner built into the NumericUpDown control, the event is fired on every change and that's all well and good, but if they double-click the value in the control then type the value in manually, it doesn't fire until the control no longer has focus. I can't depend that this might be the case however. Using the "KeyPress" event, I can in fact know when the control has focus and the user has typed but what I cannot seem to get it to do is to get the control to "read" these keystrokes as values until the control loses focus.

I'm trying to create a WPF application and found out that there is no KeyPress event for Textboxes, so I used PreviewTextInput. Now, I want to have a function that will block the keys that will make the input data invalid. [code]Now, my problem is, when I choose numeric, the textbox still accepts spaces, how can I block the spacebar?

How can I set my application in VB 2010 to do something when I press a certain key on the keyboard? I heard somethin about the Keypress Event but i'm not sure that will actually work. I want a code so that my application can do the following things: If I press either the left or the right Windows Logo key on the keyboard, I want it to make Label2 visible. I've got a page (aspx) that contains a usercontrol (ascx).On postback of the aspx, I'd like to read some control values in the ascx. So upon reading some good articles, I created an event in my aspx that fires on postback.The event handler is in the ascx, and simply writes the values I'm interested in to the viewstate so that the parent page can read them.The problem is my event handler never gets hit, even though I see the event is raised as I step through the code. So my code bombs when trying to read the viewstate (which is empty)[code]Oh, did I happen to mention I'm dynamically loading the ascx? :)

I know how to do click events but how how do i make an event for it that does something when the mouse hovers over one of the Labels?for example if the mouse hovers over a label it changes text color to RED...when mouse leaves it changes back to BLACK?

I'm using a third party grid control which I took and inherited to create some custom properties and events to it. Now when I tried to use this custom control on one of my forms one of the Events that I try to use keeps giving me an error and saying that the signature of the event does not match. It's only for this particular event and it doesn't give me the problem on every form I use this control on. To fix the problem, I constantly have to clean/rebuild the project with the custom grid control and then clean/build the project using the grid control. I'm using VS 2005 and the grid control I'm using is called iGrid.NET made by a company called 10Tec.
The exact error I get is below.

I had this new idea for a user control Sliding Bar/Panel. See screenshot. So I quickly whipped it up but I've got this problem that I cannot figure out why it does not work. Because I wanted to make it nice and tidy I desided to use a Class (Header) and created a TypeConverter (HeaderConverter)

I have a user control (SomeUserControl), that I am using in a Main Window. I write my application entirely on SomeUserControl, and Main Window is hosting SomeUserControl and nothing else.
Right now I have a shutdown button (in SomeUserControl), that is supposed to close the Main Window. The reason for this is that I do not want anything from SomeUserControl to close the application itself, but to fire an event from SomeUserControl, and Main Window receives it, and Main Window will close the application instead of SomeUserControl.
How do I do it? I am not familiar with the concept of creating and handling custom events, so if someone could explain it in words and in code as an example, I will be very grateful to you!

I need a multiline TextBox which is always disabled, but it shouldn't paint itself in gray, but I want to keep its designer choosen color. I previously had the same requirement with an always-black Label (no multiline) and so I inherited from Label like:

Well , it works when I click escape my form closes , but.. if I have pressed by accident or some else matter any of the arrow keys (up , down , left , right) before escape and then hit escape nothing happens. I checked if any other key does that and as I see it does not.

I am trying to create keypress handler that will execute a line of code when Tab, Space, or Enter key is pressed or passed by the scanner gun while the control is in focus. I got it to work with space and enter key but with tab key, the cursor will just jump to the next tab stop without executing the code.

I'm trying to create an application that uses a PictureBox to display an image. I use the arrows keys to switch images and the space bar to rotate the current image. Since the KeyDown or KeyPress events don�t get fired when I click the arrow keys, I had to override ProcessCmdKey. It works fine, the problem is: the applications also has a few buttons and when I click an arrow key the image gets switched but the button�s focus change as well, worst yet, when I press the space bar, the image gets rotated but the button which has the focus gets pressed.

I'm developing custom .net themes, and this relies on GDI+ -- I've been able to do this mainly with a ThemeBase released on another website. Now, however, whilst inheriting another control, I am Unable to inherit the ThemeBase which means I have to design the control a little differently -- which relies on me being able to manipulate the 'OnPaint' event of the control's design.The control's 'OnPaint' event is never fired, and I don't know why.
