I have a small project where I need to draw graphics over a WEB page.
To do this, I create a "ghost" form with a WebBrowser at the same location and size of my main form that is always displayed behind my main form.
When I set the TransparencyKey of my form's Panel to the main form's TransparencyKey, the panel shows the WEB page that sits behind the form. Yet, because this is a panel, I can draw anything over the WEB page
The only problem that I have is when my program needs to open child non-modal forms. When the user sets the focus back to the main form, the child form goes behind me main form, but it is still in from of "ghost" form.
Is there a way to "bind" the main form and the "ghost" form together, so that any other forms may only be completely on the back, or comletely on the front (never in between)?[code]...

I'm a unviversity student and for an assignment we have to make a simple project where the user specifies a shape and a color, and then the shape is drawn in some kind of space. So like they choose circle, green, and in this blank space on the form a green circle appears, pretty simple. Anyways we have some kind of msdn alliance thing where we can download Visual Studio for academic purposes, so I downloaded Visual Studio 2008. I spent about an hour going through the tool box trying to figure out what could possibly allow me to draw stuff in it, and I'm really not sure what it could be. On some online tutorials it said something about a function on picture boxes like picturebox.Circle(100,100), 100, vbgreen or something similar, and when I tried making a picturebox and writing this code nothing worked. My friend told me to use a 'canvas' but neither of use know how to actually find such a control (its not in the toolbox).[urls]....

Will any of the free light-weight charting libraries; ZedGraph or NPlot, be able to draw a simple graph similar to attached image (no waste of space, and with colored plot areas)? This plot will act much like the task manager "CPU Usage" plots, with update of last value every 500ms, but only making a new datapoint every 1 minute or so.
Or is this so extremely simple that it's better to hard-code it? What classes should I look into for this?

I'm trying to figure out how to create a custom power plan in code. I've searched high and low and have come up with very little so far.
The first thing I ran into was WMI. After looking up some information, it seems that all of the WMI Power features are ReadOnly.
Then I looked into the registry. This might be a feasible option, but it's hard to say. It seems each Power Plan has a unique GUID associated with it. This isn't a huge issue, since I can create one like so:
VB.NET
Dim _GUID As Guid = Guid.NewGuid
With this method, the issue now lies in the subkeys. Each Power Plan looks like it also has a unique ID for each option in the power plan.
There are two issues with this. First, even though subkeys are the same for each powerplan on my PC, I'm not able to test others at this time. So I can't know for sure that they are the same. Secondly, I have no way of knowing which subkeys relate to which power options.
My only two other options would be an API or .NET methods.
That being said, does anyone know of any way to create a power plan or some info on it?

I'm planning my road in VB training on my own at home using various books and online resources, like MSDN and book publisher support sites, etc. My initial goal is to become familiar w/the VB 2008 language but then to build upon that w/other skills like perhaps, ASP. Net, ADO .Net and so on. Maybe concentrate on WPF/XAML? My question is, where do I go next after initially learning the VB 2008 language? Not only that, what should my learning "list" look like, assuming it a good idea to "add" to the lot w/other VB skills? What's a "real world" learning plan look like in VB? Which should I consider to be "priority" core VB skills to learn after initially learning the VB language? What is a realistic VB skill portfolio look like?

The hotel has 8 floors and 30 rooms on each floor. Create an application that calculates the occupancy rate for each floor, and the overall occupancy rate for the hotel. The occupancy rate is the percentage of rooms occupied, and may be calculated by dividing the number of rooms occupied by the number of rooms. When the user clicks the "Complete Report" button, a loop should execute and iterate 8 times. Each time the loop iterates, it should display an input box for one of the hotel's floors. The input box should ask the user to enter the number of rooms occupied on that floor. As the user enters a value for each floor, the loop should calculate the occupancy rate for that floor, and display the information for that floor in the list box. When the number of occupied rooms has been entered for all the floors, the application should display the total number of rooms occupied and the overall occupnacy rate of the hotel.I have some of the code but I'm not sure which way to go now!

I would like to write on a game window while I am ingame, Like steam or xfire for some basic functions.Anyway I can do this by calling Graphics.FromHwnd() In rapid succession and then it looks really flickery. The game is using DirectX, is there a way to sort of "Inject" something to be drawn into the paint event ? even if this is not possible with vb.net I can do C# or C++ if I know how.

I Have created a program (see below) that enables you to use you cam. You then draw a line and calculate the angle. The purpose is that I do alot of work with remote control cars and need to acuratley set toe and camber angles, it takes to long with the "old" method So I am creating this little program. ok, so, lets see what I want to do. Well, the first thing I would like to do is draw a line from top to bottom of my picture box dead center of left to right, this is dead center of the cam so the bottom of your item should be posistioned to meet the bottom of the centre line. I then draw a line from bottom to top of the objects angle. I then use the dead center line and the line I drew to calculate the angle.

I was wondering how to draw characters/string on a bitmap. For example: I have created a new Bitmap with resolution of 200x200. Now using Graphics.DrawString(), I have to draw text. I can draw text. But my question is, I want to fill it the image with that string.Say, the text be "abc".So, the output would look like this for 200x200 bitmap (assumption):

I have started to work some more on my 'shape editor'. If you're not familiar with it,ust imagine the Visual Studio form designer: a 'canvas' (the form) with a bunch of 'shapes' (the controls) that can be selected, moved, resized, etc. I have just finished implementing snapping between shapes and the canvas boundaries. But now I am having some slight issues with painting the snap lines.Just FYI: this is what I mean by snap lines:The blue lines that indicate that the 'buttons' are snapped to each other, and a purple line indicating that button1 is snapped to the boundary.
My shape editor is based loosely on jmcilhinney's 'manipulating GDI+ drawings' codebank entry, and a central idea in that post is to only draw what is necessary. In other words, when I move a shape I could re-draw the entire canvas, but it is much faster and smoother to only re-draw the old and the new location of the shape. Since nothing else has changed, I don't need to draw the rest. So, I simply invalidate the old bounds and the new bounds, and even with a lot of shapes all moving simultaneously it still feels very smooth.

I'm writing a simple program that takes a screenshot of tab1 of the GUI, then takes a screenshot of tab2, then tab3, etc. I've got the screenshot code down pat, but the problem with my current code is that it's taking the screenshot of each tab before the screen has a chance to fully redraw, so the resulting images are screwed up.Is there a way to get the program to wait for each tab (and all the controls in it) to be fully visible before each screenshot is taken?I'd like to avoid using a timer for this, as the screen redraw speed will vary depending on the user's computer, and the contents of each tab, etc.[code]
