I have a datagrid view with 3 columns and variable rows. I have many rows so it is tough to know what is where so, the first row consists of names.I have a textbox in which I type in a name and hit a button. Doing this, I want the location of the that cell in terms of row.no and column.no.
Extended : for the adjacent ones just add +1, +2 etc to the column number right ?

View 5 RepliesI am trying to import a text file into a data table using VB.NET. I need to loop thru each line of the text file and put certain elements of that line in a new row of the data table. The line may contain 50 elements, but I only need to get 15 of them. The very first line is a header row, which contains "File Name", "Object Name", "Object Weight", etc. The trick is the element locations move from file to file. For example, "File Name" element may be located at 0 in one file and then 15 in the next file. I need to find the exact location of my desired elements and save them to a variable. Then use that variable to locate the exact piece of data in the text file line to place in my new row.
The code below obviously doesn't work, but it kind of illustrates what I need to have done.

I came to a company that already has a fully grown project... but coders that worked here before me didn't follow conventions and didn't use parametrized SQL queries... as a result there is over 1000 places in a very huge project that can possibly be vulnerable to SQL injection...
I need to find a solution that will automatically detect if there is an SQL injection in the code. So, for example there is a form which allows user to enter comments regarding a product, which will be sent to database on submit... how can we make sure that a user didn't enter a harmfull query instead of a normal text?
Is there any advanced code/regular expression/magic that can detect if this text contains a piece of SQL query instead of normal harmless text? I will accept any links, pieces of code in any language or even commercial software that will do that for me.
i am using an unbound datagridview so i can dynamiclly add rows. all that is working fine. but the grid is not is the location i have coded.. i am using the defualt form as a base then coding the unbound stuff in.. should i just create a blank class file and do everything? the only problem i am having is the grid must bees in the correct location according to the pixel point that i have given it. Right now it is placing the grid at point (0,0) no matter what point is entered on the line for location. so what am i missing??????

I use "dgMatrix.Rows(r).Cells(c).Value = x" to assign individual numeric values to individual cells in a DataGridView control. My question; is there a similar way to change foreground color and make bold the text in this cell, by specifying the individual row/column cell location?
For example; for cell (row 3, col 5) in the DataGridView make text in cell say red and bold or blue and bold so as to highlight and distinguish individual cell contents. As needed, I will also need to reset these properties (foreground back to automatic/black and font from bold back to regular); the reset could be done globally to the whole DataGridView as opposed to indiviaually by cell.

View 1 RepliesI have a datagridview and the user wishes to key some text in a text box and press a find button.The text to be looked for could exist in any columns in the grid (I want to exclude hidden columns).The search is to start at the row the user is currently at. If it gets to the bottom of the grid and still not found the the search would start from the first row of data.
If a match is found then the row with a matching value is to be highlighted.I've looked at using the position and find properties of my binding source but I think this will only let me find on one column and only from the top?Do I need to programmatically loop through the rows in the datagridview and search for the text or may there be a better method?

In an attempt to try and make a chess AI I started working on a chess project. The AI will basically be in a class that implements my AI interface. To provide flexibility this can be used for a human player or a computer AI. In any case the problem I'm having is calculating the valid moves that a single piece can have.I calculate on what blocks the piece would be able to move if the board was totally empty. (this is represented by a array of point)Then I get a list of piece locations of the same team and Except that from said list.(since pieces can move through other pieces of its team)Now here is the tricky bit obviously taking an enemy piece is a legal move I can't just subtract enemy piece positions. Lets say there are 2 black pawns and a white rook in the same column. The rook would be able to take the first black pawn but not the second one because the first pawn is in it's way. In reality there would never be such an easy example so I need a way to only include the enemy positions "In the line of sight" of the piece's moves i'm calculating.

This works fine when the columns unless the user changes the order of the column.
So what I am trying to achieve is to find the value if the cell even if the order of the columns is changed. Is there a way instead of saying column (0, eRow) I can add (ColumnHeaderName = "NameHere", eRow) or something along those lines.

First it might sound like an ordinary task but keep reading it isn't. I can't figure out how to find a phrase in a text file, and replace it with something else. Tried lots of things but always ending up with empty hands.
Suppose there's a text file in this order:
valueabc=6000.0000
valuettt=200.0000

I want to;
1) Find the phrase (e.g. valueabc) by scanning the whole text,
2) Replace the number that starts after "=" and ends before ".", namely "6000" in the middle with any number value i want.
I don't need the parts before "=" and after ".", only the number in the middle.
How would I go about reading a textfile, finding values and using the values in the program?Now I want the program to read the text file, find [1], use the first line after [1] as value for a variable, and the second line as value for another variable. After that I will run some code with the values and then do the same thing again for [2] etc.
View 2 RepliesI'm basically trying to do a small report card project. I only need to pull 5 Students with each student having 5 Test Scores a piece. The full Code of what I have for the submit button is below. I have actually 3 questions.
1. I always seem to have trouble with them unless I initialize them when I dim them. Is there a better way than below
2. The below code works really well for Student 1 and all 5 test scores. Rather than do that code 5 times though, what is the best way for me to basically state that IF dblStudent1(intMax) = 4 Then Change dblStudent1(intMax) to dblStudent2(intMax) etc.
3. Would this be better suited towards a multidimensional array ?

I am creating an application and I have the numbers 1 - 20. Each number represents a location. They are continuous. I need a way to find the closest number to a given location. For example if the event is in location 8 and there are 2 people who can attend who are in locations 6 and 10. Then zone 6 would be chosen as its closest and also the lowest. If I needed the next highest closest number then I could pull all of the numbers into an array and sort them and then pull out the one which is the next highest zone. However as I need to find the closest number which could be lower, im not sure how to achieve this.

I'm currently developing an app which essentially needs a way for me to search in a text box or file for a specific string, and extract the line on which that string appears on. It will be unique, and the syntax is the same on each line. It has basically 2 ID numbers, and is laid out like this:
123456|123456
So, I'd need to search for the first part before the |, and then get the line so I can get the bit after the |, which is the important bit for me.
