VS 2010 Button Not Reading Listbox?
Nov 29, 2011I figured a fix using if statements which lets me click the button without issues, except just 1; it doesn't read from the listbox. here's the code i'm working with

I need it to be able to read from the listbox while it is closed, instead it just thinks that nothing is in the listbox, but when the form with the listbox is open, it reads from it perfectly, what shall I do?

Mar 6, 2010I'm writing a code in which the user is supposed to enter a number less than or equal to 15 and greater than 0.And If user enters a number greater than 15 then he gets an error msg. I do have the right code for error messge but the listbox still shows the result along with the error message box. How do I JUST have the error message.[code]

Nov 19, 2009If I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?

VS 2010 Getting A Button To Read From Xml File Or Listbox?
Nov 29, 2011I'm trying to get a random line of text to appear in a messagebox upon button click, I want the listbox to be closed while the action is to be performed.
I can do it when the listbox is open but not when closed, here is what happens if I try to do it when it's closed
and the message "InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'."
I tried reading it straight from the .xml file the data is stored on, but that didn't go so well either.

Mar 15, 2012I have this code which lets you choose a class, then enter 3 names into the roster listbox...the problem im having is with the btn grades...im using a nested loop but cant figure out how to get all 3 names into 3 seperate inputbox prompts to input the grades...right now its only showing the first name entered...how do you get the code to loop and go through whatever amount of students entered in the roster listbox into the grade listbox.

Feb 26, 2010I have a small script that logs all of the website I visit and then displays them on a form. When I open the form the first time it displays all of the websites like it should. However, the second time I open it, it displays two of every website. The third time opening it, three of every website. I think that it is because the data doesn't get erased from the listbox when I close the form. Is there a way to clear the listbox when the form closes or do I need to find a new way to set it up?

Apr 28, 2009I am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.

Jan 6, 2011The scrollbar that comes with the ListBox is too small for touch screens, so I use my own scrollbar instead. But when you do this on various forms you end up repeating a lot of code. So my solution was to create a custom scollbar that has a property I can set to the control I want it to be a scrollbar for. In vb6, I can use the withevents keyword to get access to the control's events so that all the scrollbar related code can be in the custom scrollbar object I created, except...I had to create a refresh method for the consuming code to use to let the scrollbar know when the number of items changes. The scrollbar doesn't need to be told how many items there are because it has access to the control, but for a listbox there is no event to tie into when an item is added/removed so not 100% of the scrollbar related code could be encapsulated.

I also want to set it so the list is always visible so you when you reach the bottom of the list you can scroll down to the bottom but if you scroll back up once it reaches that middle point it will start to scroll up again.

Jan 26, 2009I am having problems with copying from one listbox to another and keeping the paths of the files in the listbox's. At the moment i have two listbox's, listbox1 shows the list of files without the directory paths showing. Listbox2 is used to add items from listbox1 which work ok but what i need is to be able to preserve the directory paths to each file. how to do this and have searched high and low for a solution without any luck.
I have worked out one way of doing it but i think there is a better way of doing it as the reverse does not seem to work. So basicly i want listbox1 to list the files without the paths and pass it on to listbox2 so that the files can be copied to temp directory as they are being add to listbox2.
