In the On Click property, I store that variable and name it stWorkOrder. View 3 RepliesI am almost finished my project for a vb database app, but lack the apparent knowledge to make this last connection. My listbox populates fine on form_load. I have identified the "category id number" from the database as the identifier for my information to be displayed (from that field). The variable catID returns the proper "category id" number to match the information to be returned when clicked (a description is part of the field for the appropriate number)
I presume the extra sub procedure I wrote for another daCategory = New OleDbDataAdapter is probably not necessary, but I'm very confused. How do i QUERY the information from the database with variable catID? tblSamples.Category(#) to return tblSamples.description to textbox when called from the listbox. I am not/will not use a databinding approach. [Code]

I am trying to run a query an Access db from VB. The general query which I want to run is

However in another form I want to use that same variable in a SQL query, and when I try it says the variable is not declared. Do I have to make a global variable or is there a way around it? If so, how would I go about declaring a global variable?
ok to start i know very little about VB6 but i am very good in true basic lol (stupid school teaching the wrong language -_-) anyway im just asking you to make the answer as clear as possible because i don't know very much. heres the problem . ok in the above example i have a button that (for my example) can be used to build a house (lol) i then have a variable in the button sub called money which will have 150 subtracted from it when the button is clicked my problem is it say variable not defined when using this button ... i have declared the variable in a module and in form load along with my other 50 or so variables. my question is how do i pass the variable into this sub and then send the new value back into form load so it can be sent into another sub for more calculations.
