When I click the amend button I want to the cmbPriority.SelectedText to = whatever is in txtPriority.Text. The item in the field will always be in the list. I have my combo box set to cmbPriority.Dropdownliststyle = DropDownList.

Nov 29, 2011Visual Basic 2010 Express: I have a form with a combobox that is populated with the names of locations from a datagrid which in turn was imported at run-time (Form_Load) from an Excel database. The Excel database (and the datagrid) also stores the information for addresses and phone numbers for their respective locations.
What I would like to do is have the phone number and address text boxes automatically be updated with the proper corresponding data when the user selects a location from the combobox. Whether the text boxes are updated from the datagrid or Excel database is not a concern; I'm mainly looking for whichever way is simpler.

Unfortunately the following code is not writing to the registry, nor is it returning any exceptions.I'm running Visual Basic 2010 Express as administrator using Windows 7 64 bit, I can manually add the values, and I can add them from a .reg file manually but not even by calling the .reg file as a new process (it asks for permission, says it succeeded, but nothing changed).The key already exists, all I need to do is add two values.

Secondly, on the display click event it should access the text file, read the line, store it in a variable and then display the totals in a text box. Works sort of fine except that it doesn't display the totals correctly. Code for both buttons is below. The variable are assigned in the mainform (Tried also in the display button and didn't change anything). The save button works fine and stores fine in the text file, it's just the reading that's the problem.

Jan 23, 2011I am creating a Map Rotation Randomizer for my Call of Duty clan, and I am having an issue with understanding how to randomize the text from the list and placing it into another textbox.
Here's what it looks like right now:
All textboxes are multi-line.
When I click a button for a game (CoD4, MW2, WaW), it places the map list into the left textbox like:
mp_bloc
mp_broadcast
mp_crossfire
etc.
When I click the button with ">>>", I want it to randomize that list and place it into the right textbox like:
map mp_bloc map mp_broadcast map mp_crossfire
Or if I click it again:
map mp_crossfire map mp_bloc map mp_broadcast
And so on. I think I need to create an array, but I've never worked with those before as I'm still new to learning programming. I'm not even sure what controls I need to put on the form for that, if it even requires any.

How To Populate List Box
May 10, 2011I'm working on a project for personal use to make my life as an IT administrator a little bit easier. (Yea right)So basically, i'm creating a windows application with a form. On this form, it has a button, and a listview.When they click this button, it will load all "Windows XP run commands" into the list view. I also, have a on-click event to capture a click on certain lines in which it will automatically open said run command, or shortcut.
Here is an example of what I am working with so far. (It populates correctly, and the clicking event works like a charm. However, i'm just looking for a better way to clean this code up, or maybe, a better way to go about everything).Once done, I will populate this to the codebank if there isn't another similar thing out there.
