How would you remove an the last item of the list (of strings) when you don't know the index of the last item and it varies every time you run the program? Would I be better off using an array instead?
I am having problems removing an item from a List(Of Integer). I see you can remove it by doing a remove with the index, but I assume you can do some type of function where you provide the value that you want to remove and it removes it. I found it on the List(Of String), but not Integer.
I'm having issues with finding something in list, and removing the item, ignoring the case of characters in string.
The code goes: Dim listItems As New List(Of String) Dim pattern As String = "AbC" Dim array() As String array = {"ABC", "abc"} listItems.AddRange(array)
Here I'd like to remove all items from listItems, that are abc, no matter what case single characters of item are, including mixed case items. So in this example, every items should be removed listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern))
If I change pattern to match the case of item, then item #2 gets removed: pattern = "abc" listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern)) How can I find item in listItems, ignoring the case characters in pattern?
I am trying to remove an item from a String() (just splitted a text into lines to that string()), and could not find how to do this. Are there even ways to do this?

This is my problem, i have created a series of lists of stock items, i now need to remove items in one of the lists that exist in another list. simple enough except the quantity of stock is not necessarily the same so removing an object of the type stock wont work as they are not identical (stock amount not the same) any ideas on how to remove this item from my list?
It seems simple enough, but apparently I cant figure it out. Theres more to my actual problem, but once I figure out this concept then I can do the rest. I want to search a list for a given string, and if it matches, then print it out. If it doesnt match, then it moves to the next item in the list. If if doesnt find any matches, it says "no matches found".

I have a problem finding strings that do not exist in a column in a database. I am going to use linq but its more the 'way' of doing I am concerned with.
I have strings like; MEAL GPST EXLEG EXLG ...etc
I need to find records that does not have this list of strings in, so for example DBML BUT sometimes I can have the string MEALDBML, or more concatenated. So this is a known string of MEAL and unknown string of DBML. I would then want to see that record. I do not know the unknown strings up front, so its a case of feeding in the strings I know are ok, and finding one that are outside that list. I was also thinking of regex?
First field contains checkbox named chkSelect and second column is a label which is binded with EmailId. <asp:GridView ID="gvwNewsLetter" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" DataKeyNames="UserID"> <Columns>[code]......
When I check each checkbox I have to display mailid in corresponding row in a textarea which is outside gridview like" [url].... If I uncheck inbetween I have to remove that particular id from textbox.

there's a list-box with items, and say you want to modify an item in the middle of the list. You select that item and click "Modify" button and a new form appears with the previously selected item data from first form ready to be modified in a text-box. After modifying and clicking Ok the second form suppose to return that modified string to the first form and insert the modified string into the same spot instead of the originally selected item, so it looks like it was edited to the user.
