View 2 RepliesHere are my questions concerning VB 2010 Express:
1. I've registered my VB 2010 Express, will it still expire?
2. Will the applications I made using VB 2010 Express expire after some time?
3. Is it OK to write my code in the designer.vb file? I don't know why, but when I started writing my application it took me to the designer.vb instead of form1.vb code.
4. I've been working on an application for a week now, but suddenly I can no longer access my Design View(Shift-F7). All my codes are written on the [form name].Designer.vb. I can still view my codes but I cant access my form layout. On the solution explorer, my forms no longer have the 'form icon'. When i press Shift-F7 nothing happens. Right-clicking the form on the solution explorer doesn't show 'View Designer' option. How can I fix this?
I want to import an xls that I made in open office into a VB 2010 form so I can edit it from inside my app.First is it possible to get the Excel object library without having Excel installed on my machine so this can be done, and second how do I do his once I have the library?
View 1 RepliesI have a DGV bound to a data adapter. I have a button that loads a form with a reference to the DGV row. When the form is loaded, it has a TextBox to type a value, that modifies one of the cells of the row. When the form closes, the cell.value is properly modified, but saving the DGV doesn't save the new value of the cell to the DB table. I'm assuming this happens because the DGV hasn't had physical interaction. Also, this particular field is a password field, so the whole column is being hidden from the view.It seems that a DGV change is noted by physically clicking in a cell and it stores some data telling the adapter there have been changes. The thing is, this is done on a per cell basis, and only if the cell has been clicked. Well, this cell is hidden, so even though the value will be changed, you could never click or select that cell.Is there any other way to force the DGV to accept changes made to it from outside actions of just assigning the cell.value from a button click and not phsyically changing it in the DGV?
View 1 RepliesThe title says it all, I made a .GIF in Photoshop, how do I apply it in VB? It is very detailed .GIF, made from 152 frames, I worked hard to make it and I need to use it in my program. My code can't be shorter than it is now:
PictureBox1.Image = My.Resources.GifProject
Like i have. Dim MainWindow as new Classic.
But i have another i need to Access.
Is there a Way. Ive Tried and Tried. But i can't find a Way to Load another.
I'm making a video editor program and I'm getting kinda stumped at the save portion, I've worked with openfiledialog so I figured save would be sorta the same. What I'm doing is adding files(music,videos, and pics) to a flowlayoutpanel. I just don't know how to save those controls made at runtime, this code is my import code. It's pretty much the same for music, video and pics with the exception being the format and openfiledialog being used:

I have a MS Access database file that I can view with a DataGridView, but I can not save the changes made. User should be able to modify data, and when pressing the "Save" button, these changes should be reflected on the database. That is not happening.I know this is a common question, but I have read dozens of pages trying yo get this to work.
Imports System.Data.OleDb
Public Class Form1
Dim con1 As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=T:JaimeTest.mdb;Persist Security Info=False")
Dim sql As String = "SELECT * FROM Table1"

I'm making a button that will create a textbox, and label dynamically.
I have it creating both, but when I try to set a font on the label, it disappears.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
NumBox = NumBox + 1
[Code]....
When I remove the line that sets the label's font, it shows up, but in the default font.
Ok. So, how do i save things. Ive made a Checked Item Box. But i can't get any of the things to Save that i have Checked?

View 1 RepliesIs it possible to save into temp data a user made class? I have a class with many structures and each structure contains variables and im trying to add to my program a way to save the data of that class object with its structures and everything is that possible? I tried manually making some sort of save but its taking too long and proving way too hard for me. Is there a way to just convert it into some general object format and save the object? Is that possible can you just save undefined objects without having to create a format manually for that object?

This is what I'm trying:
CODE:
The registry key exists on my PC, so I'm having a hard time debugging it on another PC. When it threw the error, I commented out the last block of code to see if I was checking the key wrong or if it would throw the error just on the variable declaration.
Which is did. I get why it did. You can't .Open a key that doesn't exist. However, I looked it up and everyone is recommending that we do it this way. But this way doesn't exist.
I need to add a value to the registry for the runonce key but I keep getting this error:Argument not specified for parameter 'MainKey' of 'Public Function BungeRegValue(MainKey As Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey, sKey As String, sKeyName As String, oNameValue As Object, RegType As Microsoft.Win32.RegistryValueKind) As Boolean'.Creating the Function is fine but I get the error when I try to add the function to a button click event

ByVal oNameValue As Object, ByVal RegType As RegistryValueKind) As Boolean

How can i delete a value in the registry? I have tried with this code i found:
My.Computer.Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun").DeleteValue("MyValue")
But it throws an Object not Set to an Instance Error.
I am unable to get a value from the registry, every time i run my code it returns a value of 'NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUser', even though the value should be 1.

I am trying to loop through a key to get all values. For some reason this returns nothing

I have access to VS 2010 through work and I'm having a bit of a play. I'm trying to create a small program to show the installed software from GP and have the ability to delete a selected registry key from a list. Am using a checked list box and 2 buttons. Also have 2 labels on the form but just using them as a visual check as to what the string says.
The program starts alright and gives the list of installed software from Group Policy. I'm having the problem deleting the ticked item. Here is the code I'm using. I think the problem is when it comes to the .deletesubkey line and what I have entered. I want it to delete the selected item rather than have the specific key name entered.
Imports Microsoft.Win32
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

I created an in house tool in VB.net to complete my post installation steps of SQL Servers.
My tool completes all post installation steps like (Creating Database,storedporcedures,logins,logon trigger, database mail configuration, Jobs , local security policies and creating required folders and granting permissions to service account.)

I am trying to change the permisions of the following registry key from within VB.net:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMSLicensing
Basically need to change users to full control. I need to change permissions for the "users" group.
When my program first launches, it generates a GUID which is then saved to the registry and compared to an online database when an internet connection is detected. If it is a valid registry key, another registry value is saved stating that it is valid. Is there a way to protect these 2 registry entries from being changed?

I am wanting to limit my applications to be free for the first 15 uses. I am wondering about the best way to do this.Should I save the number of uses in the registry? Is this the best place? (Can't people just delete the registry setting and then have full use again?)

View 1 RepliesI am trying to read keys and values from the registry. The keys I am looking for do exist in the registry, but the variable mRegKey is still Nothing after the first line is run.I have also tried different keys under HKLMSoftware, some work and some dont. HKLMSoftwareATI is found but HKLMSoftwareOracle is not (both are shown in regedit).[code]
View 3 Repliesmy code is as below.
vb
Dim RegKey As RegistryKey = Registry.LocalMachine RegKey = RegKey.OpenSubKey("SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUIBackground", True) RegKey.SetValue("OEMBackground", "00000000") RegKey.Close()
If I output the contents of it on a msgbox, things are fine, but when I go to regedit, the change doesn't happen where it should as it actually happens in another registry key located at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUIBac
k ground which I guess happens since I am on windows 7 64 bit, but I don't want that to happen as doing that doesn't change anything. The key I'm trying to change makes changing the default logon screen possible in Win7, but it's not working like this since the wrong key is being modified.
I want to enumerate all of the values within a given registry subkey (for example 'HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun')
