I'm having problems to create a shortcut key to show another form.
For example, If i will click F1 another form will pop up. Kindly check the codes that I used.

Im trying to create a program that will be using a shortcut key in displaying a form. But im having problems on how to know if the cursor is on the textbox or datagrid.For example, If I clicked the textbox, and i clicked f1, Customer List Form should appear. No problem with this. I used the following

so I've got a button that hides my form, and I was wondering, when my form is hidden, is there a way to make a shortcut key that shows the form again? I'm hiding it using Form1.Hide()

Because the location of products folder is not critical, it's rarely ever in the same place on different networks. A simple shortcut on the client machine is all that's required from the client perspective and the rest of the product is self contained on the server somewhere. To run the 'fix' my small application will perform quickly and easily, I need to parse the path held in the target box of the .lnk. Then perform ifexists for a specific file and then do my renaming/deleting.
To keep it as simple as possible, the end user should just 'drop' the shortcut onto my form then click 'fix'.The problem: How in the heavens can I retrieve the target location from the .lnk into a string without windows scripting host?

So here is the question if the mapped drive path is different every time depending on how the user maps the share how can I tell VB to find the path to myapp.exe ?

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a program that will look at a website and check it for updates, similar to an RSS feed. It then will show a dialog (Form2) that will inform the user that there is an update.Form1 is used as the configuration form and is able to be shown via a notify icon in the system tray, which is on Form1.Originally I would have Form1 hidden via Me.Hide() and then run a timer which would check for the updates and call Form2.ShowDialog() when there's an update, I found out however, that if Form1 is hidden, the dialog will not show.
Next I tried not Hiding the form, but instead setting its ShowinTaskbar property to False. At this point the program functions correctly, however when I minimize Form1 it sits in a shrunken window near the task bar... Is there any way to completely hide Form1 (when minimized), and allow Form2 to be shown as a dialog?
