View 2 RepliesI was just wondering if it is possible to put a dll file into the resources and use it as a import on that same program? So that I wouldn't need all my users to have both the dll and the .exe. since they would be combined into one.

I have a Tabcontrol, and when the program loads it adds a tab. Inside this tab goes a panel (url, back, etc buttons to be added to it) and a webbrowser control.Problem is the panel docks to the top and when you fill the webrowser control the webbrowser goes behind the panel and not under it so the top is cut off.[code]Or anyone know how to remove the tabcontrol from the tabpages so theres a gap in-between to input this panel.

I am trying to make a timer, inside of a class, tick, by calling it from a backgroundworker. It never ticks (the Tick event is never raised), but the Timer shows as Enabled (with Interval set to 1).
Here is the simplified
Class1.vb
vb.net
Public Class Class1
[Code]....
If I move the code inside the Thread1_DoWork procedure into the Button1_Click procedure, the code works fine (by bypassing the backgroundworker). But, when it is called inside of the backgroundworker, it doesn't work at all.
I have a series of tabs, each containing a series programatically generated PictureBoxes that are all 480x360. The TabControl is anchored to all 4 edges of the form, so it always takes up the whole area.
I would like the PictureBoxes to behave similarly to how images behave when floated in HTML/CSS. So if I have 5 pictures and the window is only ~900 wide then I will have 3 rows, 2 in the first 2 and 1 in the last. But if the window is then expanded to ~1500 then I get 2 rows - 3 on the first and 2 on the last.
What is the simplest way to achieve this? Is there a built in way?I am planning on repositioning the pictures when SizeChanged fires on the TabControl, or when the selected tab changes.
I am trying to compile my program, and each time i do the access database is outside the executable. I was wondering if it is possible to compile it and the database will be within the executable, or better still how do i make it an installer kind of application that sends all the files to the programes folder on the computer.

View 7 RepliesIf I have a panel with a handful of controls in it, and I want to create a click event for anytime that the user clicks on any controls that are NOT inside that particular panel, how would I do it? In other words, if there was an event called "ClickSomethingElse", that would be perfect. Any way to accomplish something like this? I realize that I could create individual click events for each of the controls outside of the panel, but there are a LOT of controls outside of the panel, so I was just wondering if there is a more efficient way to do this.

If i use this, I will get all the .price values:
For i = 0 To .bets.Length - 1

Can I calc the average .price value? I will need to sum all the values as well.
just because you can do something, it doesn't mean it's good programming practice. To that end, I have a question about calling a public property from inside the class in which the said property resides. It seems that I can call it, similar to a sub, using me.property, but is this good programming practice?

My current situation: I have a scrollable picturebox (achieved using panel + picturebox). On top of the image inside the picturebox I've added labels on different locations(the labels are added on run-time using PictureBox1.Controls.Add etc). I want to save the contents as well as the image inside the picturebox.
It is my goal to write a program to run a retail store. I am an intermediate Access developer, so I have a good grasp of the basics. However, I find that developing in VB 2010 is quite different.I will have forms for:
Company Information
Employee Information
Supplier Information
Customer Information
Invoices & Purchase Orders
All I really need to know at this point is the code to open and close each form.
Basically, I am looking to create a program with the CMD (command prompt) window inside of it.Along with a drop-down list, containing a few pre-made codes. For example; Is the easiest way to kinda accurately show what i'm attempting.Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'txtResults' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.

The font (name and size) I also display in 2 textboxes. This works as far. But I also want to display in a different label (so not the same as the label inside the panel) which fontstyle is selected (at this point when I select bold, the number 1 is displayed in the label, but I want to the word Bold displayed. Also I found out that when I make the fontsize smaller, the label inside the panel isn't align in the middle of the panel.

I have created my own object, wich contains a SerialPort. I have a sub in my object wich handles the .DataRecieved-event. I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?
