VS 2010 Reading / Cutting And Pasting Within One Excel Document.

Basically i work as a desktop support officer. our team does everything from fixing software errors on PCs in the office to moving them from one desk to another. When we do have to move anything though, it needs to be tracked so that our records can be accurate. To track where things have moved to, we have to:
1. fill out a form in an excel format and then fill out the same information into a text file format, and then attach both formats to the job record in our job listing system and send it to our hardware tracking team.
2. If an asset is being taken away to storage, but is considered to be too old, it needs to have an excel table filled out to create a 'disposal' label, or it can create a 'redeploy' label if it still has some years left in it.
3. If we are putting out a brand new asset, it needs to be updated on our tracking sheet to show that the asset is no longer in our storage as brand new.
This obviously creates a lot of administration work for our staff, so i have built my program to take all the information required once, and then split it off to the forms and labels as required.The part I'm stuck at is number 3. I have been working with the excel files in the following format:[code]What i need to do is as the title suggests, search an excel work book (the user will point to it) for the Asset Number in a particular sheet. Once it finds the asset number, cut the entire line out of the sheet and paste it into a different worksheet at the next empty line with a few edited values.
Let's say I cut a tab control with buttons on it and paste it into a Panel control. After doing this, all my control events are being unlinked from the event code. I have to manually relink all the events in the Properties window. Is there any way round this?
I'm working with the graphic designer in Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. I tried to cut and paste a groupbox and the variables reverted to standard ones (CheckBox123 etc.), and when I tried to change them back to their proper names, I got an error message stating that this name is "already in use by another component". But this is nowhere to be seen anywhere in the "Form1.vb[Design]". How do I either get rid of these "hidden" variable names or reunite them with the groupbox they used to belong to?
I'm trying to copy a Range from Excel and Paste the information in powerpoint in either the HTML or the default format, however, I am having some difficulties. I am able to get the code to work for pasting the Range as an OLE Object but nothing else. The problem with doing this is that having the embedded excel documents in the powerpoint makes the file extremely large and unstable. I just need to be able to paste the information without the embedded information where it is editable (so, not as a bitmap or picture).

I'm working on pasting arrays into excel ranges. Suppose I have a range: A1:A5 and an array a = {1,2,3,4,5}. I can set up the problem like this:[code]So, I got curious about the Transpose method, and whether I could construct my array properly so that I didn't need it. I found that Transpose converts my array into a 2d 1-based array (so the first element is (1,1) not (0,0) as usual).Now I'd like to know: Is there a standard VB-way other than the worksheet transpose function that I can use to build a 1-based 2D array the way Transpose does?
My Visual Basic .Net 2010 application reads data from an EXCEL spreadsheet which will be generated by my "customers". The responses to Alkis last year (23 July 2011) has been a big help and got me over a hump in my application. Now I am down to the last issue - how do I detect a blank cell? Valid data is numeric, starts at a fixed cell (A5 to be specific), and will be continuous until it ends with blank cells. While blank cells appear to print a "zero", when I try to use zero as an end criteria I get a 'System.InvalidCastException'. When I put in a specific end value (-1) in the last cell all works fine but that, of course, is an invitation to a user error.What is the difference between "Value" and "Value2" and where might I find documentation that explains the difference? I am developing a vb.net app that should read cell values from excel. However, it is not returning any results and I thought that it would be really simple. I have imported all the references viz. Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library.

I have a vb.net app that I can read a .xls file into a dataset or loop through as oledbdatareader and it gives the same result.Some of the rows have all nulls when I loop through them but if I open the same file in Microsoft Excel I can see that row fine.[code]From the info above the first two SKU values would come through fine but when I get to the 3rd row it would show a null.Is it possible that it kind of inherits the first rows type and since the 3rd row isn't all numeric if nulls it? In my application I read data (using data binding) from an Excel spreadsheet into a DataGridView. This works, but the data columns contain text fields (strings). I would like to set the data type for some columns to "Date" and Decimal. I cant do this on the DataGridView (error: cant change properties for data-bound stuff) and I cant figure out how to do it on the dataset or data-table that I bind to the DataGridView.The following is the code I use to read and bind the data:

i Have this code which populates a number of combo boxes from an excel document, the problem is that it only populates the 1st three lines, does anyone know why this is??
I have a text box that I will paste into a byte array, for example: 02 01 05 BF DD 03 All I need to do is when I click on a button, for the program to take the length of the array and store it in RCVDMSG_Length() and then take the contents of the text box and put it into a byte array RCVDMSG(). From there I think I can figure out how to manipulate the array... but it's this first step that I'm stuck on....

I'm trying to read a XML file, but only certain values.So my XML file is built from the result of a SQL query.[code]The probelm is the loop starts with line 1, good start.But then it will go to line one again, then line 2, line 2 again and so on.When it hits line 5, the first value I need to pull, it then stops.And thats how it is written, so that makes sence.I need to loop through this document, grab the certain values I need, and move on.
I have a program that is saving information into and XML file that is later read from to continue the users progress. I am having trouble getting the reader to work without an error This is the code that I am having trouble with and below is the error.

I have some data that is contained in HTML tables within a webpage. I need the simplest means of extracting the data for storeage in SQL tables. I am knowledgeable of how to add the data to SQL tables...this portion of the code is already written. I would like to pull the data into the VB.NET 2008 environment using the XML DOM or a more efficient option.
The end of the text document my application is reading is denoted by a character that I cant identify, copy or paste. I attached an image of it so you can see. I have no control over the formatting of the document so I can't change the character. During debugging it shows the same character as shown in the picture, but if I hit the little tack next to where the variable shows then it changes to "f". However, if I try to see if the variable equals "f" it returns false.
I am using the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel library in an ASP.NET application, and I have populated a Worksheet in a Workbook. I want the user to be prompted to Save the document to their machine, but I cannot find a way to do it (myWorkbook.SaveAs(...) doesn't work).
Basically, I have a quiz program for which It would be much simpler for me If i could pull the strings for the correct questions to display and answer to test if i could pull them from excel. For example,

Or maybe there's something much simpler already integrated into Visual Studios 2010 in which i can copy and paste my excel data and then pull the data in a similar way all within Visual Studios?
This program is being used to analyze an excel document with coordinates for a robot. The entire program works...My boss indicated he wanted me to throw an exception in whenever a coordinate that wasn't being given a tolerance wasn't supposed to move, he wanted the program to give an error message. Which I figured out and outputs a message box saying "Result Compare Fail!"
Now here is my dilemma..whenever I encounter a section in the excel sheet analyzing multiple variables, I still get the error message, because the program doesn't think of it as multiple variable coordinates changing. Is there an easy way to fix this? I'm stumped! This is one of the cases, but they are all very similar.
