Basically I want a piece of code that will only do something if richtextbox1s text is a url. Here is a MOCK code.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If richtextbox1.text.containsURL = True Then webbrowser1.navigate(richtextbox1.text) End If End Sub
What I am doing is creating a simple login and register system. I am going to save the information of each user into a text or ".dat" format and have them placed into a folder called "accounts".The small problem that I have is the "Forgot Password" option. I can't think of how to search all the documents for the e-mail or the username. So basically I need to know if it is possible to do a small search for the e-mail through all the documents in the "accounts" folder.
-I know another option may be databases...but I don't completely know how to use these. -I have general knowledge of arrays
I'm using Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition and I was just wondering if someone could help me out with a few things? I'm making a Notepad-type program just to clarify things.1. I have a button which adds text to my RichTextBox1 (excuse the name), but when you click it it adds text to the end of the script. I want to make it so the text is added where your "cursor" (the blinking thing which lets you know where you're typing) is, at the current part of RichTextBox1. At the moment I'm using:
RichTextBox1.Text = RichTextBox1.Text + "The text I'm adding" If anyone could tell me the code to make it put "The text I'm adding" at your current cursor that'd be great.
2. I have a Save As button and a Save button. When you click Save As and save the file it works 100%, when you click Save and you haven't saved previously then it works 100%, but after you have saved the file and then click save it doesn't overwrite the file. Here's the code for Save:
[code]...
So if anyone can tell me the code that's needed so it will overwrite the current file 3. I have a FontDialog but I have no idea what the code is supposed to be to make RichTextBox1's font change after you click Okay in the FontDialog.
Text displayed by the RichTextBox1 is too big. It creates vertical and horizontal scroll bars. It there any way to zoom in and out to make the text fit as one desires?
i am programming a note and i save the plain text of the richtextbox1 to a notepad then i want to print it i use this code but it print the frist line only and i want to print all lines Private Sub SaveToolStripMenuItem1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveToolStripMenuItem1.Click

I have an email creator that needs to extract the emails created from the html page, display the accounts in a richtextbox1 & then save the accounts as a .txt file on my system. How would I go about doing this? Doe anyone have a great code sample??
I have a text box setup to filter a datagrid. Work just fine, but if I search for something that is not there (empty results) it comes back with an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." on the bolded line. How to fix that error?
The user inputs a serial number in a form, the program searches a specified text file on the internet for that serial number, and if it is there then the program runs normally, but if not it exits. I already know how to do the trial part of this program and I know that this is not secure as someone could just hack it and find the text file and read the numbers, however this is for school and is not commercial. The only thing I need to know is how to search a text file for exact text that has been inputted by the user. I've been trawling the internet and I've heard of something called instr or something, but I'm not sure.
I have a label that reads a random line from a text file and that string becomes the text for the label.
Now the problem; the label will only work if it is clicked because the event handler is click. What I need is this to work automatically at startup. In other words, it should change the label's text to the random string of the text file on startup of the application.
I'm trying to lern VS 2010 from VB 6 and one of the things i'm hawing a problem whid is control array. In vb 6 if you create a text box it's named "Text1" and if you yust copy it and paste it it renames to "Text1(0)" and the new one's name is "Text1(0)" and the code would lock like this
[code]...
then it would print for each loop the random result in one of the text boxes corresponding to i.
so i have this data grid, which i wanna search , base on specific criteria from two or more text boxes; eg a user wants to search employees from karachi, so they enter karachi in the first text box. now they want to search employees from karachi whose status is permanent, so they enter permanent in the second text box, and the data grid shows employees from karachi whose status is permanent.
For search from ONE text box, i have used the following code :
Private Sub TextBox1_KeyUp(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyUp If TextBox1.Enabled = True Then
[Code]....
im no champ at vb, i just started some 7 days ago for my computer project, so ill really need to be spoon fed the details :|
I'm new here, but have been in and out for a while. Past threads have been helping me along thus far.
I'm currently developing an app which essentially needs a way for me to search in a text box or file for a specific string, and extract the line on which that string appears on. It will be unique, and the syntax is the same on each line. It has basically 2 ID numbers, and is laid out like this: 123456|123456
So, I'd need to search for the first part before the |, and then get the line so I can get the bit after the |, which is the important bit for me.
I'm new to Visual Basic.net, I've had some experience with ye old visual basic however. I'm wanting to make a quiz app that reads the contents of a text file, with about 500 multi-choice questions in it. It is in the following format QUESTION NO: 1 This is the question, what is the answer?
A. This Answer B. Or this Answer C. Maybe this Answer D. Or this Answer Answer: D
QUESTION NO: 2 and so on. I would like it to display the question number in say...a textbox, along with the question and the multi-choice. And then depending on user input, says correct or incorrect.
listbox text search by button who navigate with textbox text..My list box contain Images , when i click listbox item then its show picture in right side
I'm developing an app for WP7 and Win7 that will get info extracted directly from particular websites. The app will download the HTML source and parse through it to find the required strings. The strings may not have tags. note multiple instances of the string needs to be found. I've tried a few very rudimentary ways, and although they work, they are extremely slow.
I have two text files, the first text file has two columns separated by a space (" ") and the second text file only has one column.
The column 1 in text file 1 and text file 2 match albeit in different order, what I'm trying to achieve is for every field in column 1 text file 2 I want to search for column 1 in text file 1 and display the matching column 2 field in column 2 text file 2.
I am trying to set a program that save information to a file(store number, state and name. Then once user put store number and click display it shows the founded result in each box. like state in statebox and name in name box. This is my code so far
for the display button
Private Sub displayButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles displayButton.Click Dim file As String = ""
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro to create a web application in Visual Basic. This app takes the information filled in by a user and then sends it to various people. Some of these people get the email in HTML, the rest in plain text. However, whenever I use the code below to send the plain text email, when the email arrives in my Outlook 2010 Inbox it is completely blank. If I leave the code alone and change only .IsBodyHTML from False to True, it works (it sends the email formatted for HTML).[code]Also, if I create an entirely new web app, using only this code, it sends the email correctly as plain text.
Basically this is my problem, showing the results of a string. I am making a program for a customer and he wants to be able to extract a string or set of emails from a large group of text. In this case he wants to be able to copy a webpage and extract all the emails out of the webpage. The problem i am having is showing the results of the List(of string) Function. So far, I can copy the page, paste the content to a textbox and then i have a function that is supposed to filter out the emails and paste or Show them in a list box.
I dont know why but no matter what I do I always get this error: Error1Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of String)' cannot be converted to 'String'. This happens when I try to output the return results to a textbox or list box.
Here is the code for the whole program: Entire Program Code: Imports System.Text.RegularExpressions Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load [Code] .....
I have tried almost everything I could do, I am relatively new to string functions so that is my main problem.
