I'm currently using VS2008 and VB.NET.When I attempt to populate a Queue that has not been instantiated with objects, the program simply hangs without throwing an error.I have run into this issue multiple times in different parts of the program in the past few days.What could be the cause of this?

I was woking on a windows app today when my errors were no longer being displayed as they usually would, instead the debugger just jumps out of the method. It works in other projects, I have put this: 'Dim i as Integer = "A"' in as my first line to try and raise an error but it just exits the sub on that line.
The output window makes a note of the exception but the usual popup trace does not appear, any ideas how I get it back??
I have a weird problem that seems to of started happening yesterday afternoon. Basically, VS seems to of decided to act as if I had set like a "On Error Resume Next" style rule where instead of telling me about exceptions it just ignores them completely.For example, I just created a fresh new project and stuck this in the form_load event:
vb.net
My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("rubbish")
So that should error and tell me that it could not find the file, but instead the form just loads and ignores that code.Obviously this isn't right..
I have installed VS2008 in my machine. I made a small program in the VB. When I start debugging, the system responds by indicating that the program is running but I don't see any output. Is their a possibility that VS2008 debuggers woun't work with Windows XP Home Edition which comes with my laptop.

When working in a VB.NET project in Visual Studio (2008 specifically, but hopefully the answer applies to any version) is it possible to have intellisense/auto-complete only show the "All" tab instead of the "Common"/"All" tab? Or alternatively, have it default to the "All" tab.

I'm running VS2010 4.0.30319 SP1. My WPF project runs once in the debugger, then won't run again unless I wait 30-60 seconds. I've found that in Task Manager, there is an associated vshost32.exe process that starts when I first load the project. It remainswhile the project is running, but exits when I close my app. After 30-60 seconds, the vshost32.exe reappears and I'm able to restart my app. But until vshost32.exe reappears, my app will not run.

View 2 RepliesI have a large solution which contains a mixture of C# and VB.Net projects.If I get compilation errors because a project which several other projects depend upon fails to build, it is very hard to see the actual error(s) because of the number of VB errors in the error list window in Visual Studio. C# errors found in the projects I compiled show in the error list, but all VB errors appear (including in those projects I have not just compiled).Is there any way of turning off this behaviour so that VB errors only appear for projects that I have explicitly compiled?

But when i run my program on the debugger, the changes i mkae, don't get saved, are lost...is this a charecteristic of debugger, or is my "saving code" wrong?

I've been googling to find a guide on how to access a database with visual studio.I cant find anything complete or up to date. I should point out that I dont have a great deal of experience with SQL.I'm not really 100% sure where to start. Most of the guides I've found tend to assume your accessing an existing SQL database and I need to set one up from scratch. I'm not sure if I'm even setting SQL server up correctly. point me in the right direction on where to get started. A good, up to date tutorial would be great.
For my purposes the SQL database will only be written to from the local machine but there will also be another machine writing to this database.I'm currently using Visual basic Express 2010 and SQL Server Express 2008 R2, mostly because they are the most recent when I googled it.

I have been working on a game development program for a few days now. And have come to a halt on one part, and thats adding a 3D space in the program. I do not know the code for this, would some one please provide something i could use for adding 3D space in my project? for example, i have a panel set up to be the view port in to the 3D space.
