WebBrowser1.Navigate Tries To Download JSON File?
Dec 9, 2010
I am trying to navigate to a website with json data using the webbrowser controls but it keeps prompting me to download the file instead of properly navigating to the page as firefox would.I have tried doing a regular navigate:
frmBrowser.WebBrowser1.Navigate("http://us.wowarmory.com/auctionhouse/money.json")
As well as editing the header content type with many different types:
frmBrowser.WebBrowser1.Navigate("http://us.wowarmory.com/auctionhouse/money.json", "", Nothing, "Content-Type: text/plain" & vbCrLf)
But cant seem to get it working.. I need to use the webbrowser to navigate as you have to be logged in to access this file.
Edit: Also, manually editing my computers registry won't work as I need to distribute this program.
Edit2: Just wanted to add that this code would work if it were the same session, but since it webclient creates a new session it doesn't work
Dim oWeb As New System.Net.WebClient()
oWeb.Headers.Add("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded")
Dim bytArguments As Byte() = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(params)[code].....

I have a form with two web browsers. I have webbrowser1 navigate to a parent url and webrowser2 navigate to child url.
The page in webbrowser2 loads correctly but when I make a change to an element it doesn't also change the value in webbrowser1 as it should.
Should I be looking at cookies or something else?

I am trying to add a welcome page to my app that loads from a web page. The problem is that it is freezing the entire app when I call navigate until the page is loaded. this is not acceptable. So instead I made it call navigate as part of a background worker process but still the app hangs and waits for the page to load. How can I force the webbrowser control to load asynchronously in the background so my application will function normally?I'm using VS2005, on XP SP3, IE 6.0

I have the following code that has the webbrowser1.navige via textbox1.text lines of urls:
Public Class Form1
Dim index As Integer = 0
Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click
Dim lines() As String = TextBox1.Lines
If index < lines.Count Then
WebBrowser1.Navigate(lines(index))

I used to use WebBrowser only and I want to learn how to use httpwebrequest so first of all is there a way to see how does httpwebrequest work like a window with gui just for the testing? I want to navigate to a website + keep cookies headers and everything make it user behavior like.Page loaded? click download
<div id="downloadButton"></div>
after you click a new page will loaded and in IE you will see the yellow bar (activex/information bar) and you have to click and allow this don't really sure how it works with httpwebrequest but firefox doesn't have that yellow bar anyway allow it and download the file run the file and that's it the install the user will do it manually

I have tried a few things like converting HTML to XML and then using an XML navigator to get input elements but I get lost whenever I start this process. What I am trying to do is to navigate to a website which will be loaded using textbox1.text.Then download the html and parse out the input elements like . username, password, etc and place the element by type (id or name) into the richtextbox with the attribute beside the name.[code]Any clues or how to properly execute an HTML to XML conveter, reader, parser?

I am been stuck on this for 3 days now...I have been accessing the twitter api to pull a user_timeline for a list of users and the json that comes back is impossible to work with. I tried to deserialize it using javascriptserializer and get an error:invalid object passed in , ':' or '}'
Now this is frustrating since I expect the json being returned to be error free. Then I tried json.net and split the posts using string.split and tried to convert each post to Jobject or jarray. for Jarray I get
'unexpected end of content while loading jArray
[Code]...
Now I have formatted the code here and not pasted the whole file but it does look like valid json to me and I do not alter anything after receiving the stream from the twitter api. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I really need to get this stuff parsed?

I have a JSON response from a web service that I need to be converted to an object then to an array. My response is similar to the one below:
{"status":{"error":"NO","code":"200","description":"none","message":"Request ok"},"geolocation":{"lat":"38.89515","lng":"-77.0310"},"stations":[{"country":"United States","regPrice":"0.00","midPrice":"0.00","prePrice":"0.00","streetAddress":"1401, I St[code]....
I am doing this is VB.NET within a console for now. Basically I am trying to create a simple way to test my API calls and output the information. What I am trying to accomplish is having to loop through the JSON array and list the stations.

How can I convert a JSON string to an array OR a JSON string to XML in VB.NET? I know how to do this in C#, as I have read dozens of articles on it, however, I am unable to figure out how to achieve the same result in VB.NET.
I'm using the System.Web.Script namespace via System.Web.Extensions.dll (from Microsoft).
I'm willing to use an additional DLL file if needed.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm not finding quite the information I'm needing so I thought I'd post this.
I've written a PHP script that returns a simple JSON object that looks like this:
{"status":"success","level":"admin"}
I'm doing a standard web request that submits the required data to the script over the internet and that's working fine.
Now, I want to use JSON.NET to pull out the individual variables so I can know what the values of "status" and "level" are. The problem is, I have no idea where to start.
I'm doing this in VB.NET (on the .NET Compact Framework).

I want to download thousands of files from the web and save them locally. What is the most efficient way? It is important the failures timeout within 10 seconds.
Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?
Dim w_req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = CType(System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://blah.blah.blah/blah.html"), System.Net.HttpWebRequest)

my problem is that my company does not want to serve up the .json MIME type, so I have to use ASP.NET to fetch the JSON file from the file server. Currently I have jQuery that does a getJSON and traverses the JSON object to build certain elements of the page. Is there a way I can use ASP.NET (VB) to give the object to my jQuery script after I fetch it?

This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
