Ok i want to display the favicon of the website in my favourites listbox to make it look more better, how can i get the favicon of the website and display it next to the correct item in the listbox?

View 1 RepliesI use the webbrowser control to navigate to certain websites and login and retrieve some data. For that I created a sub for each website. On the form i have a button that calls every sub when clicked. The problem is that I don't know how to pause or stop the process once started. If I quit the program it will still run in the background until all calls complete. I tried to use a thread, but that doesn't go well with the webbrowser control.

I've got a webbrowser. It's prettey advanced, given that I've spent quite a lot of time coding it, and here is my code which will get the Favicon of the current website when a the webbrowser has finished navigating:

Sometimes, a user has switched tabs before the webbrowser has finished navigating. So my question is: Is there any way in which I can determine what tab the favicon belongs to and set it to that tab, rather than just setting the favicon to the selected tab?
I am working with vb.net to making a form that prevents the web broswer on windows internet explorer from navigating to certian pages. The code can't just work on internet explorer because I could make a program with a web browser that navigates. It has to prevent the web browser itself from navigating.

I have used VB6 years ago. Few days ago I just got started again with VB 2010. So I'm newbie again, Almost forgot everything. I want to create a program for parental control that block specific websites.
What I exactly want to do is The code should check the titles of the open windows and see if it is blocked one. If it is, it will close the browser with a message showing it's blocked. For example If I put "yahoo" to check and someone opens yahoo.com it should be terminated.What I have done so far is, I made DOS batch file that will terminate all the browsers that are open and set that ready to run when the title matches blocked site name/address.But I am stuck at how I can check the titles of the window that are open.

If you click folder it opens new folder contents in WB window but if you click html document it opens in EXTERNAL viewer.
How do you get html document to open in WB while exploring ?
I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,
1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).
2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.
3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.
My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.
i have created an app to load an access database into a datagridview, which contains web urls. When button is clicked it webbrowser1 navigates to each url and each webpages document.inertext is put into textbox. This all work fine but after a while the webbrowser navigation becomes increasingly slower.

I'm making a tabbed browser and I want to get favicons in the tabs. I have a picturebox by the address bar that shows it just fine, but I want it in the tabs also. The tabs are owner drawn. Can I use the image key to display the favicon? If so, how? I've tried drawing the image in, but it draws it to every tab instead of just the one. Is there any way around this?

But some sites don't have one and what i want is for a picture box to become visible when that happens.But i can't get the code to work (i suck at coding no surprise there).[code]Problem is it doesnt work. What happens on sites that dont have a favicon is that the last favicon loaded is the favicon of that site without a favicon.

View 1 RepliesI am using VB.Net 2008 Express and trying to build a favorites list for a webbrowser I am working on.I get an invalid parameter error on the line that reads favicon = image.FromStream(stream).[code]the urls are stored in an array after they are taken from an xml file.I checked the url that was being used when the error occurs and it seems fine. I can even navigate to it in IE.The error I get is that "stream" is an invalid parameter, at least that is where it points to.It also shows that stream is a type System.NET.ConnectStream.Stream was originally set to System.IO.Stream.I don't know if this is a problem but it processes several urls before it gets to this one.I am wondering if this may be a permissions issue and the site is blocking the WebRequest or if it is something else.
View 12 RepliesI have a regular application form with a WebBrowser control.I have strung together a .htm file (from a regular text file) which I then assign to the WebBrowser control. In the html file, I have filenames mentioned.I am trying to string together the html in such a way as to give a clickable link or button that will parse into html and open the corresponding file in another WebBrowser control in VB.I have tried using VBScript and JavaScript to put a button in the html.As long as the function or sub I call is also in the same html document, it works, but I really need to transfer the control back into visual basic where I can do the heavy lifting I need to.can I just not do this as a regular VB application? Any way to do it without adding the complication of requiring ActiveX?

The application takes a significant performance hit running under x86 and I would really like to keep it set to Any-CPU. However the webBrowser controls need to be 32bit so they can run flash. So is there any way of achieving this? Running the 32-bit webBrowser in a 64bit process, or some alternative control that will manage this and allow me to load HTML from a string and a URL?

I'm having an issue loading one of our work websites in a WebBrowser control. In IE, it works fine, but in the wb control, it does not seem to process correctly.There is a frame, "mainframe" which when you click "result", goes back to the "to do list". However, i get a blank page in the frame, and then when i hit refresh, it comes up with a scripted error "Page Already Sent" which i'm not sure what it is triggered by.The pages are JSP pages, and i don't know if that might have some effect, but i'm more confused as to why they would work perfectly in IE, and then not work in WebBrowser control.
View 5 RepliesI'm running a webbrowser control with a custom user agent.when I try to load google with it, there are a number of 'script errors' in the website, which I've hidden by setting 'Scripterrorssupressed' to true. Now however there is still an 'object error' which pops up when i try to load google.Every other website that I've tried loads fine, and when I click 'ok' google runs fine. I'm quite sure its something to do with google 'location services' trying to locate my browser, because it thinks its a cellphone (due to the custom user agent).
