Instead of searching for the logs manually the program automatically finds and zips the logs and emails them to me. The problem lies as the client is firewalled so no outbound emails can be sent. Do I have any other options of getting this information to me?

I have created a WCF service using vb.net. Everything works fine on my development machine but when I deployed it it failed with the following error'There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter [URL] I call a single method on the service and it has a single parameter called 'querys'. This parameter was a list(Of CustomType). I then created a new method with a single parameter of type ArrayList. Thinking that this should serialize. Again it works fine on my development machine but fails when I deploy it with the same error a above.
I am completely stumped how it can serialize a parameter on one machine and not on another. I've tried it on 2 other machine and it doesn't work on either of them. So that rules out a problem with the machine itself.All machines are running Win XP and .Net v3.5. The service was developed using VB .net in Visual Studio 2008.I have not included any code because the error is happening System.ServiceModel and as I mentioned above the code does work on the development machine.
We did development of a VB application on a machine with a high resolution screen. Also the machine where the real application runs has a high resolution screen. After a while we wanted to do minnor changes on the application and we wanted to use a low resolution laptop for that. When we opened the application for editing we saw that all forms changed their sized automatically AND unwanted.How can we build and change applications in one form size that does not change depending on the resolution of the machine on which edits are made?

Why would database drivers work in the development environment of VB.Net and not once the project is built and installed on the same pc? I've tried the MS ODBC Oracle driver. I've tried various ODBC datasources. All work when I am in the development environment but none once I build and install. No matter whether the configuration is Debug or Release. This is the only project having this problem. I have other apps (VB.Net) that access the same database (Oracle 9.2) with no problem.The environment variables are the same during both types of runs. The error messages vary depending upon the driver being used.

When I run the Java version of this using apache commons and the same setting, the email is sent. However, when I run the VB.NET version of the code, it fails on my local machine and on the client machine.
I have a VB.NET web application running on a server that uses similar code. I tried that code locally and it fails. Yet, the web application is working perfectly.
Why is it that the Java application can send the email, but the .NET application cannot?[code]....

When I loaded it on a machine running Windows 7 64 bit, the application runs fine, but one window that has MenuItem controls does not work properly, instead of being able to change items from the collection, that area is just greyed. View 1 RepliesI'm using the TcpClient and TcpListener classes to read/write to the network when a request comes in on port 25. All I'm trying to do at the moment is make it so that my server program can receive SMTP messages from other SMTP servers. I've tested in Telnet - if I connect to my own IP on port 25 and type EHLO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA etc then all works as it should and the details I entered are logged by the program (it doesnt do anything about delivering these details/email yet).all looks good... but then when I try and just send an email to my domain from my work account I can see that a connection is made to my program and the string "EHLO workdomain.com " is received by my program - my program responds to the remote SMTP server with "250-mydomain.com Hello" and then a CrLF and then "250-OK". After that point however, my app does not receive anything further at all from the server at work. I'm guessing I am doing something wrong with the data I'm returning when it sends EHLO but can anyone point me in the correct direction?
I was using telnet to test with, it seems that I have made it work only with telnet.In telnet each time I type a key the data is passed to the server, however with a real SMTP server it just sends each entire command in one go. So after altering my server a little I can now get it to respond with the 250-OK which I thought it already was doing.. but it still doesnt work. The remote server just sends EHLO and then thats it nothing more.Something interesting, at the moment I am ending all of my responses to the remote server with VbLf - if I change this to VbCrLf (which is what I believe it is meant to be according to the SMTP standard) then I get an infinite amount of empty strings sent to my program (or perhaps some other character that just shows as an empty string in intellisense when stepping through the code). Changing it back to just vbLf or ControlChars.Lf makes it go back to just sending EHLO and then nothing else..

View 3 RepliesHow to avoid aiding the development of malicious code I see an uncomfortable number of questions asking for info that could easily be put to malicious use. You can probe the OP to discover their intent, and you get replies that come in one of two flavors.
I have come to realize that trying to discover their intent is a waste time. Not because of the reactions, but their intent is really irrelevant to the matter at hand. Security. Posting code of any nature in a public forum that can be abused for malicious purposes is outright reckless. I wish could provide the help they request, but I don't know most of those programming tricks anyway. I would discourage anyone from publicly posting code that could be perverted no matter what the person asking for it claims. Their claims take a back seat to common sense. Anyone can read the post, people. Don't post anything that could become part of someone's malicious software in public.

After reading a couple of tutorials, it seems that basically NET works quite like java. All the IDE's produce an intermediate code that I have to distribute, and which NET compiles at runtime to machine code and then executes it. Leaving aside the question why so when NET works only on Windows platforms, I have some other more practical questions:Is it possible to directly compile to machine code targeted at specific platform like XP 32-bit or Win7 64-bit?

I know that I need to be able to drive 3 serial (485 / 422/ 232) ports one of which is on an ISA bus and the other 2 are located internally on the motherboard. Another factor in trying to do this is the drivers are missing for the 485 card and I hoped
