I plan on designing a Crystal Report, and then calling it through VB.NET code. Will the end-user need a Crystal license in order to use the crystal report part of the program?

View 1 RepliesI'm making a printable Purchase Order form using Crystal Report. This report retrieves data from two tables. Example, I have fields PONumber,DateofPO,Airline,DateofFlight,ETA,ETD from a table called tblFlight. I have fields PassengerName and Rate on another table called tblPassenger. Each PONumber can have multiple passengers. How can I get it so that I'll just be generating one PO that shows the multiple passengers while the rest of the items show only once? I've placed the PONumber and DateofPO on the PageHeader and the rest of the items on the Details section. But right now, on the Details section, if I have 3 passengers, the other fields also show 3 times on the report. Also, I'm considering to make a query but I have a conditional statement on my query, a WHERE clause that retrieves data dynamically. My problem is I'm not sure where to put the query, will it be on the .rpt or just on the Form? NOTE: I'm coding my SQL queries on the application itself, not inside the server, so no stored procedures/functions for me here.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to protect a Crystal Report from the user modifying it. My idea here is to decrypt the report on startup and then delete the .rpt file when it's finished. That way, if I need to supply the user with a different report, I don't need to send them a new .exe, just a new encrypted file. I did some research and found some code that I tried:

View 6 RepliesI am working on an application in which i need to use reporting. i have used LINQ to entities and MS SQL server as database in my whole application. Now when i started working reports i noticed that crystal reports or no more included in visual studio. i downloaded it separately and installed it. i have also designed my report successfully but the problem is that how would i use LINQ with it?? I translated my linq query into datatables and it worked but the problem i am stuck at is, my report is based on two tables, after translation i am able to see records of first table but not the second one.

-use a sql server 2005 express maibe
-use a sql server 2000
-connect to mysql
-use crystal report to generate the sheet for print
Until now i use the vb6 to work with that things that i have say but i looking for a new language because vb6 is a "little" old but i dont want spent many time learning a language for say to my self "damn this program cant do what i want" i have seen many versions of visual basic and one of them is the visual basic 2008 express that is free, but what is the limitation of this software? i can build all of that i build in vb6? i have the same controls? i know some controls dont exist in others versions of visual basic 2005,2008 etc but my question is the visual basic 2008 express if good for what? until now i dont spend many time using this software because the language if a quiet diferent from vb6 the vb6 to .net have many diferences but i need know is if i learn use the visual basic 2008 express i able to use the others versions? like visual basic 2005 and others products the is more professional?
When i pass the parameter and run the report it works fine as i close the form it closes the form is there any way so that i should be able to close the crystal report viewer and pass the parameter again and should be able to view report again.

View 1 RepliesI have created an application using vb.net 2008 and for reports Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 but the problem is, when I run the application in another machine away from developing box, I get the Load report failed notice. I don't have any idea on how I should approach this issue. I tried installing the CRRedist2008_x86 and CRRedist2005_x86 but still the problem won't go away.

Hence, I can compare the figure of the current month with the past few month.Right now, I do not have any problems building SQL_String for calculating the Total Qty Sold for the Current month and display it via DataGridView. But I am not sure how to additional column that calculate the Total for the past few month
I am trying to convert a VB6 Data Report (.dsr file) to a Crystal Report through the migration process within Visual Studio. I have read articles that reference adding a Data Report to a Project from Visual Studio 2005/2008 and that it will convert the Data Report to a Crystal Report, but I have not been successful in doing so. Does the VB6 Data Environment need to be converted too? Has anyone been able to do this successfully and if so, how?

How can i set a specified order in crystal reports for categories.I have for example 3 categories namely 'Recipe', 'Plain Spices', and 'Horeca'....The crystal reports shows them in ascending or descending order but i want Recipe data at top, then Plain Spices and Horeca in the end...!!How can I achieve this in my crystal report that has already been made?
