64-bit Windows 7 Profesinoal running a project I have done vb2005. Reporting as a tool I'm using active reports 2.0. Normal data base connection is very slow. The first problem this.The second problem, none of my reports does not work. gives the following error:is not a valid Win32 application.

I'm writing a report in VB .NET (using Active Reports) that displays details about a location, and then displays a bunch of images, which are stored in a database. The images are displayed in my main report via a subreport. However, I can't get the images to load. I have two files, the main report (rptMain) and the image subreport (rptSubImages). The sub Detail1_Format in the rptSubImages never gets ran, which is why the images are not appearing, and I can't figure out why! I've included the code below... can anyone pinpoint why my subreport detail section isn't getting called? The rptSubImages report gets initialized, but if I put a stop point inside the detail sub, it never gets caught during debug.

Im trying to detect if an active report has been closed to close the "main form". Basically what im doing is populating an active report from parameters passed to the main form then the active report is populated, once the active report is closed i want the form to be closed. However, i have not been able to find an event that will close both. Unless i close the mainfrom which inturn closes the active report, which i want to happen opposite.

During the demo yesterday, it was clarified to me that one of the capabilities our client would like is the ability for the end-user to create custom reports integrated into the Web-Based client. I know that both packages have options for integrating an end-user designer to a WinForms based app, but I can't find a definitive straight yes or no answer for either suite as to whether or not it's possible to attach them to an ASP.Net based app.

Code works fine on my Windows 7 64 bit computer because I have Crystal Reports 9 installed on that computer but i want this to work on other computers that don't have Crystal installed.I have published my app and installed it on another Windows 7 64 bit computer and it doesn't work.I think i need to have the craxdrt.dll install and register on the users computer.
how can i include this in my setup? I already include the Interop.CRAXDRT.dll when i publish (publish status: INCLUDE/Download Group: Required/Hash: Include) but it doesn't make a difference.i am using vb.net 2010 express?
I've got an intranet based reporting tool (VB.Net + ASP.Net Integrated Windows Authentication) that looks up users and managers from a SQL Server 2005 table to roll up the reporting to manager level. This table is currently manually maintained and I've been asked to make it more dynamic as it is going to be up-scaled for far more users. Therefore I'm looking to link in with the Active Directory to create an Org table in the back end which will replace the current manually entered one.I'm comfortable getting user data from the AD, but not so sure as to the best approach to set this up, I was thinking of the following table:

EmpID will be the NetworkID (sAMAccountName).Then this will need populating from the AD, I'm guessing through recursive calls to fill in the fields. I'm then not sure how to structure the code so that it will capture every employee under every manager starting at a given level. I developed a very simple little windows program in VB 2005 to be used on desktops here at HQ. It reads a table from an Oracle DB into an array, let's the user select a text file, and then uses that data and text file to create an Excel spreadsheet.
Now they want a remote user to have access to it. We use Citrix for our remote application access. There is no install, I just copy the code to the Citrix server so I didn't need to put terminal server in install mode. When I am on the Citrix server, the application runs well. When I access the application through Citrix, I get an Oracle error from the ODBC data manager: Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
Does anybody know what is going on? how to make it work?
Are there any papers related to Windows applications on Citrix server that can help?
Can a VB2005 executable created from VS2005 run on any Windows OS (vista, 7)? If not what is the "patch"?

In all four forms I am using a label to show some transaction count based on network status. I have implemented a thread which gets the active form of application and setting up the text. The code works fine if application screen is active. If I minimize and open any other application, I am getting an null error exception.
How do I get the active form of an application?

I wrote a program that runs in the background and waits for me to hit a predefined key combination.
When I hit this key combination I want it to do the following
Check and verify that Windows Explorer is up If IE open, I want it to get the current/active windows explorer screen directory.
So lets say I had windows explorer opened to "c:\program files(x86)\my Folder"
Then when I press my key combination "shift+t" my program will get the directory of my windows explorer.
So it should display a message saying something like "Active Directory: c:\program files(x86)\my Folder"
I want to know if the Windows Run key pressed. How can it be possible? What's the constant or ascii code for this key? The second: How can I know if the program, I wanted to use, is activated? What's the correct func. for this?

If you don't already have a strongly typed dataset displayed in the data sources view, get that ready. Visual Studio 2005 SP1cr10 developer also installedOn XP machine, works fine. Got a Windows 7 machine(64bit and all) and copy over the project, run it and can't, I get an error in each crystal report gets an error [code]I take these lines out, and no more error for the report. Since there are like 40 reports in a project and there's 5 different projects that would have to be altered, this will be a pain. And I'm not the only developer. Another developer, on Vista and another will be coming in on XP, don't have this issue. I've tried uninstalling everything Cr and visual studio, then reinstalled visual studio and ran it, same thing, then installed SP1, same thing, then updated security fixes, same thing. CR10 isn't installed. I've removed and added the references back ,they seem to be the exact same versions.

View 7 RepliesI am refactoring an old program to use VS2008 (instead of VS2005) and the 2003 Crystal Reports merge modules no longer work on the client machine. I am using the CR version bundled with VS2008. Neither the CR10 merge modules downloaded from the SAP site work, nor the CR x86 msi.
Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms, Version=10.2.3600.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I have a project with several forms. I need some of them to be in a modal window. How do you set this to be true? Also, when some of the forms are shown I need one of the buttons on the previous screen to be active.

I have built a project using VS 2010 and I have 2 reports I am creating within the project. While in VS2010, I can debug the program and the reports work perfectly. Now I have come to the point where I want to publish my project and install it on a machine that my program will be used on. I tried 'Publishing' my project and running the 'Setup' file on the other computer and I get the following error: Unable to install or run the application. The application requires

Doing some research, I have found out that you can manually change the GAC or have Windows Installer fix it for you. To be honest, I don't know where the GAC is or how to modify it. My ideal solution would be to figure out how to setup Windows Installer to fix the GAC and configure Crystal reports however to get my project to run on a basic machine. setup Windows Installer to install the appropriate Crystal Reports Engine so my project will work??
I am creating reports in Crystal Reports that is integrated within Visual Studio 2008, and I noticed that some of the features are disabled. One is the ability to link tables with a Right Outer Join or Full Outer Join. I also cannot "Show SQL Query" in Crystal Reports. Is this something I can enable or do I have to purchase or upgrade?
