I have created a form that enables the user to add details about a bicycle, the functionality of it is fine. I have thought about allowing the user to write a jpeg image that relates to the ike being added and then at a later date when they want to search for this bike the image is also read to the same form as the details of the bike on the search form.[URL]..

I'm reading a folder to assess the width x height of jpeg's, to classify them in various ways. Opening each as a bitmap and reading the bitmap width and height works but of course is laborious and very slow .... I've read various JPEG file format papers but retrieving the image pixel width and height seems none too obvious. Is there a logical way in VB to get this info quickly? My jpeg's are bog-standard ones made using VB's "Bmap.Save(Fname, ImageFormat.Jpeg)".
View 9 RepliesI have a routine that creates a report which includes text and graphics. When I print to a PDF or printer the output looks great. When I draw the report on an image to save as a PNG, GIF, JPEG, etc. it does not look as good and I understand that is related to the 96 dpi native resolution. However, I made some modifications, and even though the graphics part of the image looks better, the text does not look as good as the PDF. I am creating the image using 300 dpi and text rendering is set at the highest quality.

Alright, say I've made an animation in photoshop and exported it as a JPEG. I want to know if it's possible to change which frame of the animation the image will show. An example is if I made an image with 10 layers, and I want the 5th layer to show in a picturebox, how can I achieve this?

View 27 RepliesSo i am converting a metafile (EMF to be exact) to a jpeg or gif (doesn't matter as long as it's compatible with browsers) and when I do the conversion, all of the transparent pixels turn black. I have no idea how to do this in GDI+ but here is the method I am using to save the file:

I want to get a folder full of images (bmp and jpeg file types) and have this program display it really quickly and then refresh to show another randome image really quickly. Then I want it to look into another folder and grab an image file from there that will be the last image and stays up. What I want to know is how will i go about getting the program to get the random image and then how will I get it to refresh instantly?

I've tried to make it write "Name =" + txtname.Text but it won't work anymore. And as well as that, I don't think It will load the text back from the ini file.

I need to read a value (and possibly adjust the value) in HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall key on both 32 and 64 bit systems.I've tried accessing 'stuff' by compiling my widget as both a 32 and 64 bit app, but nothing is working. Then I came across some information indicating that this could be done from a 32 bit applicaiton using KEY_WOW64_64KEY [URL] somehow, but I can't figure it out.
1) Check the existing value of HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall{ProductGUID}DisplayVersion handling both architectures.

I wouldn't think this is that difficult as I've worked with registry before, but the 64 bit stuff is throwing me for a loop.It would be nice if I could compile my app to target AnyCPU then detect where its running on 32 or 64 bit. The app could then look and update in the appropriate location.I currently am set to use .NET 2.0, but could go to 4.0 if there is something in there that makes the above tasks easier.

I have created a small game for my son and after each game it tells him his score.all I want is to write the highscore to a file and have it open each time he begins a game..so he can see what his last score was. I dabbled with all this Io.file stuff and I just can not seem to get it to write to the file..also how do I work with app path in this case? I mean when the game is done and installed the current path of the save text would change.

View 6 Repliesseeing as '.dat' files contain only what you want them to and there is no preset encryption for them etc could I write data to one by using this simple process:
1) Change file extension to '.txt'
2) Decrypt
3) Write
4) Encrypt
5) Change file extension to '.dat'
and pretty much the same for reading it. or am I thinking to simply?
I thought of the above way as i know how to write to text files already, but is this the best way to do it? or is there a better way?
EDIT: Nevermind you just write to it like a text file and encrypt/decrypt it. request lock/delete from mod.
