Initialising New Label In Code - Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object

Nov 28, 2011

I'm converting an application from VB6 to VB.NET, and am required to declare and initialise some controls in code (control arrays). I have it declared globally, so other forms can access the data stored within them, and then I try to manipulate them inside the Form_Load() sub:

Public lblDataZone() As Label
Private Sub Form_Load() Handles Me.Load
lblDataZone(0) = New Label

[code]....

The error I get says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I feel like I'm missing something huge here, but what's wrong with it?

WINNT Object Only Returning 100 Users From Active Directory

Mar 15, 2011

I have this problem that just recently started happening.I've created this snippet that isolates the problem, which is basically, the same VBScript that used to return all of my users from Active Directory, now only returns the first 100 users.If I filter by group, then i get all of the groups (which is more than 100).The problem started happening last November, then went away for a while and has come back.The server guys tell me that nothing should have changed there.When I run this script for various domains, i get a numbered list of just the first 100 users.I'm running this on IIS (which hasn't changed)[code]

Error: MSDatasetGenerator Failed. Failed To Generate Code Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object

Jul 28, 2009

I created a typed dataset a day or so ago, then I added a whole bunch of tableadapter/tables with some relationships etc... suddenly out of nowhere it decides my dataset "is not defined". everywhere in my code where i use this dataset now has an error. I tried not to pull out my hair and do a Clean then Rebuild solution... out of nowhere it just refuses to generate code. Object reference not set to an instance of an Object. It would be nice if it was my object so i could find it but it's not.

Curiously I also lost the little database icon on the dataset in the solution explorer.I can still open it in the designer and preview my queries etc... it just wont make the code. it's driving me insane. anyone got a solution?

Yeah its intermittent.The requestXML is a string of xml data passed in as a paramter to a subroutine. I am fetching the xml string as a form post in a request object. The only thing I could think of getting this kind of error is when the requestXML string varia

VS 2008 Error - System.NullReferenceException: Object Reference Not Sent To An Instance Of An Object

Oct 23, 2009

I have recently gotten my hands on a free, open-source IMAP connection API.So far, I have been successful in creating a connection to one of my accounts.Where I'm getting stuck is retrieving folders and/or emails from those folders.Does there happen to be anyone here that is familiar with this API, or even Gmail (particularly the folder structure for IMAP)?

If not, here is a link to the DLL that is listed on sourceforge and the company's website that created it (if you feel like testing):

Koolwired
Sourceforge - Koolwired API

I have created a test account so feel free to use the code below without worrying about username/password issues; I'll just delete it when I'm done with it.Here is the code I have made so far for making a connection:

Dim gSession As New Koolwired.Imap.ImapConnect("imap.gmail.com", 993, True)
Dim gAuthenticate As New Koolwired.Imap.ImapAuthenticate(gSession, "imap_test@serysoft.com", "imap_test")
Try

[code]....

When I run that code, I get an error that states:System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not sent to an instance of an object. (The bold line in the above code).

Now, I'm not sure exactly what that means. Does that mean it tried to access the server and "INBOX" doesn't exist so it gets returned a NULL value? Or is it possibly the coding itself?Maybe the Gmail folder system is weird due to the fact they use labels (even though from what I have read online, the labels act as the folders in the IMAP system).
