Dec 4, 2009im trying to get the user of my program to enter their date of birth ad for the program to return how old they are in years, months and days (you are 10 years, 3 months and 23 days old) type thing and if its their birthday, to return an appropriate message.atm ive got a textbox for the days, a combo box for the month and another textbox for the year. i guess the real question is how do i use these to do the above.

When I enter 4 digits whole number 7777 it is validating correctly showing message Enter Valid Date, but when I enter 5 digits 77777 it is accepting the value and converting it to 12/10/2112 value and not showing any error message.
Here all I want to do is I want to validate the cell value to any date format mm/dd/yyyy.

Feb 8, 2010How can I ensure that my program function can only run once a time per day? I wonder how did those commercial software that did something like 30 times/days trial. How did they store the value in the sense that altering the system date and time would not prolong the trial. Currently I am thinking of validating the date through internet time since it can't be alter by user. After which, I will store the value online. However, this does not seems to be feasible if its an offline application. I wonder is the any other better way to do it?

Jun 24, 2011The user will select an entry in a gridview, which then redirects them to a form that is populated with the data from the selected row (thus making the gridview editable in a more user friendly way). Null values are accepted by the DB and I would like to show null date values as blank (or " ") in the corresponding text boxes. Instead I get the error:
Conversion from type 'DBNull' to type 'Date' is not valid.

Inserting Null Values Into Date Fields?
Apr 20, 2012I have a FormView where I pull data from one table (MS Access), and then insert it (plus more data) into another table. I'm having issues with the dates.The first table has two date fields: date_submitted and date_updated. In some records, date_updated is blank. This causes me to get a data mismatch error when attempting to insert into the second table.It might be because I'm databinding the date_updated field from the first table into a HiddenField on the FormView. It then takes the value from the HiddenField and attempts to insert it into the second table:

Which is the preferred method of handling possible NULL values from the database? Is there a better way than the three listed?
Edit #2: I have noticed that the TryParse method does not play nice when trying to assign to a Nullable type.
