Aug 4, 2010I am working on project. i am using vb.net and sql server 2005. in my project i have a form which records student details. so if i want to update the record of an existing student, i delete the record and insert a new record to the table with the same identity column value using IDENTITY_INSERT. is this ok if i do it like this.

Sep 21, 2009On my website I have user records. For the user records page I have three options you can do with each user record. Delete, Update and Email are my checkboxs's that I am trying to use.

What I want to be able to do with these check box's is when one of these slections are made, I want to be able to pass the value of the selected checkbox by pressing a button over to another page where I have a IF statement. Then value of the selected checkbox runs though the IF statement and matchs with the option in the IF statement.

So I guess what I am looking for is how do I get the value of the checkbox to pass over to another page and run through my IF to match with an option in my IF statement.

Nov 26, 2011I'm trying to delete a record from an access database using the command object in vb.net 2010 express but can't seem to get anywhere.If I run the code below, I get no errors but nothing happens. The connection opens fine but the db does not update.the table has only two columns.The variable strCrit is so that I can build the sql string with exclamation marks, When I debug.print the sqlupdate string it seems to read fine.the routine is called from a form with a button.

Mar 22, 2009Working on Access 2007 and Visual Studio 2008, i already connected my database to the application and can see the data on datagrids and can add or edit or delete records, the problem is that those changes do not go to the database, so when i close and reopen the application, i found the old data as it was before. Note: i used the wizard to add the connection, not the code.

After it adds the row to the SQL database, it deletes it from the Access Dataset, and updates the Access Database. Sometimes double rows seem to get inserted into the database, so I'm thinking there is an error in my logic somewhere here.

VB10 Not Picking Up Access Database?
Dec 6, 2011I have just opened VB10 for the first time and it converted my VB8 program beautifully, except that all of the screens are not showing any data !
My reference to the MS Access database file is as follows :-
"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:MoneyMoney.mdb"
Do I need to change any of this syntax or is there some other reason why VB10 won't show anything ?

If i add a record, save it, then close the application and run it again and search for that record, it appears. However, when i write some code to my application, nothing to do with the search function, and i run the application the record is not found. For example i added a button to clear the textfields, and when i ran the application the records i have added earlier were not found.
