i store th date in access data base?i would like to do some calculation in two mothodes
1- i will create ListBox to Access Database so i will modfiy this code
'Add ListBox to a Form in VB.NET
standard Edition
'connect ListBox to Access Database
'read a list of keywords from a Database table 'Keywords'
[code]....
The very first calculations for average gain and average loss are simple 14 period averages.First Average Gain = Sum of Gains over the past 14 periods / 14.
I am developing an inventory system and I have developed the following function to convert between cartons and pieces.
Public Function convertQTY(ByVal units_case As Integer, ByVal quantity As QTY) As QTY While quantity.pieces < 0 And quantity.cartons > 0 If quantity.pieces < 0 And quantity.cartons > 0 Then
[Code]....
For example if units/pieces per carton is 144 then the above code converts the pieces into cartons if the number exceeds 144 and if the pieces are less than 0 then the above code subtracts 1 from carton and adds units per carton into the number of pieces. So that the pieces never exceed total number of pieces in a carton and they are never shown to be less than 0.
I want the same effect in summary field in my crystal report. For showing sum of cartons and pieces at the end of each group.
I've set up a test database to begin unit-testing an app that I've recently been added to. It is a 3-tier design (presentation layer, BOL and DAL) and this is my first time writing unit tests. I've decided to start at the BOL and I figure the best way is to swap out the ConnectionString (which has been passed along as a Shared String) with one that points to my new test database. However, I don't wish to change any production code. I simply wish to somehow redirect the app to the test database during unit tests.
check the attached 2 file. one is .docs file another is .bmp file. Problem is that i want add that formula in database through vb.net. what will be data type in sql serve? and how to manage in vb.net??
I have a question about storing formulas on a database and bringing them back in as a string. I want to have the user enter in a width and that number will be passed to intWidth. Lets say a user enters 8 into txtWidth, strRange will = "Less Than 10" and in the database I will have a Width_Range column with "Less Than 10" and a corresponding Equation column to go with it. If I have a formula such as (1800 * 1.8) saved in that database column, the code I have works and does the calculation.
What is the best way to easily switch from a test database to a production database in vb.net and MySql, when all MySql connection strings are currently hard coded?
Is there a problem accessing the Windows Clipboard from an NUnit test?I have a VB.NET application which calls System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.GetText—it works fine in my normal exe, however there is no return value when running with NUnit console (x86).The testfixture itself is marked with RequiresSTA().
Usually when you add one (in Visual Basic), it pops up a message asking if you want to enable an option that lets the test access things like private methods etc.
However, I am editing a solution that does not have this enabled. I'd like to enable it so my unit tests will work, but I can't find the setting.
Can anyone tell me how to enable it after the project has been created?
I want to place two radio buttons in so I can select one of them to use one formula, and then select the other to use another formula. I want to use the I=P(1+r)^n formula and I=P(1-r)^n formula with the radio button text showing Appreciation and Depreciation.
Heres my copy of the original code.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub cmdExit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdExit.Click End End Sub
I'm using VS 2010 Professional built-in test cases. I've got a class that has a read-only property that looks something like this:
Private _server As IServer = Nothing Public ReadOnly Property Server() Get[code]......
In my test cases I want to make a fake server implementation so I can test some of the class methods without actually hitting the server. I've looked around and have seen the InternalsVisibleTo attribute, but that seems to only allow access to Friend-level members. Is there any simple way to get access to these members, aside from declaring them Public/Friend?
I am looking for a simple code example that will test to determine if the database first is empty before attempting the Item() command. With the above example, the Item() line produces the error "Conversion from type 'DBNull' to type 'Integer' is not valid." for an empty database.
I have a simple .NET 3.5 app for changing some database fields using an ODBCDataSet. Now the Feature Creep is asking if I can hide or show tabs and other controls based on the user's database permissions. Ideally, I would like to control the permissions only on the SQL Server using Windows user groups, and the app would not have any built-in authentication or permission system--it simply uses the logged-in user's Windows account for the database connection. So thus it would have to "test" the permissions to determine whether or not to show the tabs for the user. For example, if they have "write" permissions to a certain table, then the tab for editing it would be visible; if not, the tab never loads for them. How can I list or test the user's permissions to the ODBCDataSet?
I am new to Visual basic and am using visual basic 2008 to write programs in, I have setup a database connection and the connection string is currently stored in the settings section of the project.I would like to have a menu item where when the user selects "test database connection" it will run the sub for testing if the database is established.
I have a text box which I'm saving to a database. Before doing a addnew which add a line to the database with a Id number and a blank item, I wish to test the textbox for actualentry before. Here's code I'm tryin
I am having a problem with a unit test I have created. First time doing this so I am not sure why I am getting this error [code]Test method ETDS_Unit_Tests.LoginTest.ValidateUserNameTest threw exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server). This is the same connection that my software is using, and the software runs fine, only the unit test is failing. What I am doing wrong? It Seems to fail one time for each datarow in the table. Also, I am using a Linq Query in the method that I being tested. I believe that this may be what is causing my error.
I can save my data to access database and in the access database field I set it to date/time.But problem is when I get the value out from the database.. the format is always month/day/year hour:minutes:seconds example today: 5/2/2011 12:00:00..How to get the value into listview becoming May/2/2011 without the hour..Here's my code to get it from database ListView1.Items(i).SubItems.Add(dt.Rows(i)(14).ToString).The second problem is.When I would like to edit, how can the datetimepicker get the listview value ? [code] info: using access 2003 (.mdb) the Date of Birth field has been set into Date/Time.
I use Visual studio 2008 I use MYSQL 5.1 I want only to backup database Test to to a specific directory.I use the application settings to determine which directory(see attachment).Green shaded code works perfect. Red shaded code works not!! This is with My.settings.I can not see the error code, it goes too fast, I can not capture this with:
I have been left to maintain some vb.net applications - all of which utilize SQL server 2000 as the backend db. I need to change a report in one of the apps to include some newly added fields fromt eh database. I added the new fields to the specific table in the "testing" SQL server database which is on a completely different server. I am creating a new data source and have selected the database icon and then selected a connection string that clearly points to the test database on the test machine. I then selected the table containing the two new fields but for some strange reason, the two new fields I added are still not showing up in the list there! I have checked and double checked and it's as if it's still pointing to the live database on the live server where these fields do not even exist yet.
I am accessing an sqlite database file from my VB.NET application.Currently, I use Try... Catch when opening the connection to the database, however if the database is locked by another application, it will take 5-10 seconds to throw the exception which says that the database is locked.
So I want to know if there is a way to test if the database is locked before I try to open the connection... because the long 5-10 second pause is annoying.
I just bought the MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-561): Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 - ADO.NET Application Development, and am trying to do the Lab Exercises now. Allready at the first exercise (point 8), where I am supposed to make an "UNIT TEST",[code]
I have an application that has an Ms Access 2007 DataBase which runns great if access is installed. Is there any code that I can use in vb that I would be able to run access with out installing it.
I have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset
I am trying to import data from an access database to a access database that my project uses I am having problems with combo box fields in the database with the data. I want to import what is displayed instead of the numerical key value. Example: The combo box displays employee names but the value stored is the key value from the employee table so instead of importing John Doe it imports 2 is there a way to make the actual name instead of the number?
and from VB6 project I reference to Test.dll but an error messege was appear A reference to Test.dll file could not be added (If I create VB NET project and reference to file Test.dll it OK )
I'm writing an asp.net page with a simple registration form that connects to my access database and inserts the values in the table. So I have my database, my registration page, everything looks fine in my code, but there's a syntax error I can't seem to figure out. When I go on my webpage and click submit, it says : Syntax error in INSERT INTO instruction.
I am using the code shown below to compare two Access databases with two fields each and write the results to a third Access database. I am getting an error at the "Do While DMReader02.Read = True" line: "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed." Why would the reader be closed at this point if I am using different DataReaders in the two loops?
I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?
Here is a example of how I did the connection:
Public AccessOLEDBConnString= "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & myfullpath & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password"
Function getConnection() As OleDb.OleDbConnection
[CODE]...
And when I want to have access at the data I'm doing like this:
Probably a dumb question, but can you write a unit test project in one language to test against another project in a different language?I'd like to translate one of our VB assemblies into C#, but want to build unit tests to verify the results. I've tried to set a unit test project up to do this, but I can't seem to access the VB code within a unit test... I can't figure out if I'm just missing/doing something stupid, or it really isn't allowed.
