How can I make inactive textboxes / Richtextboxes autoscroll? I have Multiple richtextboxes that are constantly being appended with data automatically and at the moment only the one that is active scrolls and all the others stop when the fill up. How can i get round this?

View 2 RepliesMy problem is I have a data grid in Visual Basic, it works fine but as the columns extend past the width of the window I needed a scroll bar. This is where the problem arose. When a column past the 4th is clicked the scrollbar will shift to give it focus. As there are check boxes here they are constantly clicked and when they are the scroll bar shifts but the button isn't checked and must be clicked again. I was hoping there was a way to disable this Auto focus so clicking a column will not cause the scrollbar to move.

View 2 RepliesHow do I combine richtextboxes? Currently, I am directly saving rich text to a RTB with ".rtf" and I would like to append the rich text information to that box from another RTB. Something like: RTB.rtf &= newrichbox.rtf do not throw any flags but also does not work. What I am ultimately trying to do is save multiple richtextboxes to a single RTF file. I was trying to do it by combining them all into one RTB and using ".savefile()" or is there a better way? Maybe appending them to the file one RTB at a time?
What I'm doing is generating a report, so I have built generic rich text templates that go into multiple RTBs that will create the form sections and I have left placeholders for the data I am adding, so I do replaces on the placeholders to insert the data. However, there are a couple dozen different possible formats for the report based on user options, so I built each section into its own RTB so I can just write out the relevant sections when it comes time to generate the file.

imagine following situation 2 forms, one form with some buttons and another form with a RichTextBox on it, if i click on the buttons the text in the RTB changes. Now i want to mark some words in the RTB with the mouse. The form with the buttons is the active form, if i click in the RTB and try to mark something, the form gets focus and comes to the front but if i move the mouse nothing happens. I have to perform a second click at first to mark something.I already tried a lot of things like setting focus to the form if the MouseButtonDown event fires, but all of that doesn't work. The only possibility that works if i set focus to the form when ever the mouse moves over the form, but this is annoying, cause everytime i move the mouse on the form the form pops to the front.How can i manage to mark the text with one simple click? Applications like OpenOffice or Notepad++ are able to do this as well.

View 6 RepliesI'm working on a project in vb.net 2010 that has 3 RichTextBoxes. Two of the RichTextBoxes can be loaded with text from text files. How do I take the multiple lines of text from each RichTextBox and combine them into the 3rd RichTextBox.
For example, if 2 of the RichTextBoxes contain the following lines of text:

I have 2 richtextboxes on a form and I want to link their vertical scrollbars i.e. ifrichtextbox1's scroll bar is moved then richtextbox2's scroll bar moves by the same amount.The reason for this is that both richtextboxes will contain almost identical text barring a few differences in the second richtextbox. By linking the scroll bars my hope is that the user can better compare the textboxes for any differences between them. I have looked at trying to find a scroll bar property but can not find one. Does one exist?

2.) When I scroll one of them, I want them all to scroll in unison, as if they were 1 richtextbox.

I am lost as to where to start. I came across this "GetLastInputInfo Function" but am not sure if that is right and/or how to use it.

Basically I have a module that writes to a text file using textwriter which is declared for the whole module to use at the top of the code. But what I want to do is clear the contents of the text file when the program is executed (using file.writealltext). The problem I have is that the file is obviously already in use as a result of the textwriter and the file cannot be modified because of this.
My question is: is there any way of declaring the textWriter object later on (not during the initial initialization of the module) without passing the object between functions? Setting the variable as inactive or something along those lines during initialization would be ideal.
For example, a user logs in and sets his status in SQL Server to active. While using the program, it suddenly blacks out. The status in SQL Server remains active. When the user logs in again, he can't access the same account in the program because in SQL Server the status remains active. How can I set the status to inactive during blackouts?

Then it needs to read one random line from firstNameBox and a random line from LastNameBox into 2 strings. When the user clicks on genarate name. A random First and last name will be showed in a textbox.

1. How do I change the font by clicking a button.
2. Also I want a Find control but how do I get it to find it then select it.
3. Lastly I am having a Find and Replace where it finds the text in a textbox and then replaces it with what ever is in another textbox.
I am trying to get a checkbox to activate and deactivate a button. While the button is deactivated it is dimmed or faded out. While Actvated the Text and button is fully visable. I did use ctype to activate the button from the checkbox.

Well, I have a MenuStrip1 with submenu "Open File1" and "Open File2".
