(It is not Join or split - I know about this, .net has new built in function to create CSV format)

TCP Send String - No Example Of A Client With A Tcp Listener Built In?
Dec 23, 2011I create a small program witch is a tcp client.I sent a asqii string to a tcp device over ethernet thads acts like a server.As soon as the device recieves the input string it will respond back with response data. The problem is i am not getting any response data back from the divice. The lenght of the string is max. 30 characters.When a use WireShark i see the reponse, but VB read nothing.I have read many threads with explenations about server/client connections but no example of a client with a tcp listener built in.I think thad the stream read is to late after the send instruction.

I try to implement a search within an xps file, but searching for <> instead of <> returns nothing.

works very well. So seems some consistency miss of the string constant behavior.
2) Have a look on the COMMENTS (in the attached picture). The words "custom", "string" and "error" are highlighted, however they are in the comments, so should be green, not blue.
Why this? What workaround? EDIT: Declared as "bug" in Microsoft Connect (even if is not more that a syntactic "miss")... EDIT 2: As remarked Hans Passant, standard string methods, like "cucu".Trim() does not work either.

Using String Properties/methods To Evaluate A Number?
May 4, 2012I have one text box that the user enters an integer into. I use a select case to determine what the length of the number is. (along w/ string.length, etc)based on how long it is, I can determine if the number is 1-9, 10-99, 100-999, etc. What I want to do next is, evaluate the number and display a roman numeral that matches.
intMyNumber.substring(1,?) ' 1 would return the leftmost number

Mar 29, 2010I am not sure how clear my question is by the title, but I am trying to make Class methods instead of Instance methods in Visual Basic that way I don't have to waste memory and code creating temporary objects to execute methods that don't need instance variables.
I am not sure if you can do that in VB but I know you can in Objective-C by using either a "+" or "-" sign in front of the method declaration. And in C++ (at least I think, I can't remember) you put the static keyword or const keyword in front of the function.How would I do this in VB if it is possible? Or should I just make a separate set of functions that are not members of a class?

May 5, 2012I have written a program that uses an array of the english alphabet and Morse code. I also built a form with a input box for the alphabetic information and an output box with the Morse Code. What i am trying to do is basically type a word like "Hi" in the input box and produce the Morse Code equivalent in the Morse Code output box. [Code] This works but only one letter at a time. Do i need to Parse the string of characters one at a time, and then run it through a loop like i have created?

Nov 28, 2011I am trying to perform an action if the index of a string contains a certain value, but it's just not working quite right and I could use a hint if anyone has done this before.The application pulls in a .txt file and manipulates it to create 3 other different type of files. It is currently set to pull the information from line 3, but the output program that supplies the file will probably change to line 2 or 3. I need to either search the whole string or the index of line 2 and 3 and then do the following manipulations. It will not return the value of line 2. This is what I have tried, but is not working. The code commented out at the bottom is what is currently there.

So I could use some help The specification we have to meet is:An event (such as a button being clicked) must use a function to return something.The function must use the mid() function

I am trying to use the left(string, 1) command as described in a couple other threads to just test the first character on the left but the only left function I can find relates to the left coordinates of the textbox.
