I have an XElement and an XPath expression that selects a node from it. It works fine in the original program that I wrote it in but doesnt work if I paste it to another program. I've checked the references and import statements.
I think the problem might be that the original program had the code within the class of a wpf window while it was moved to a abstract class where it doesnt work.[code...]

I have a XPath expression that is supposed to return/get only one node out of the XML document. But it is getting more than the one. I don't understand why.
Code-behind:
Dim xmlNameTbl As XmlNameTable = rootDoc.NameTable
Dim xmlNS As XmlNamespaceManager = New XmlNamespaceManager(xmlNameTbl)
xmlNS.AddNamespace("asp", "http://test.com/asp")

this list has tried to mix numerical variable, such as 1, 2,3 within an xpath expression. [code] For some reason, item_ number_ first and item_number_last appear to have no value in the above code snippet, when they do have values they get printed as in the [code]Could anyone please give me some hints on what to modify here to make the numerical data be able to mix within my xpath?

I have some problems with a for loop in visual basic.
Public Const numofblocks As Short = 88
Public Shared blocks(numofblocks) As PictureBox
For x = 1 To numofblocks
blocks((x)) = PictureBox(x)
Next
The error raised at the picturebox statement: PictureBox' is a type and cannot be used as an expression. The result of this for loop is that every picturebox in the designer form is named: blocks([number of picturebox]). I need this for some other for loops.

According to the language specification guide for VB.NET Section 10.9.3. The enumerator expression in a for each loop is copied over into memory. If I have a list of 10000 objects that list will be in memory twice for the code below?
dim myList as new list(of bobs)
'put 10000 bobs in my list
for each x In myList
'do something
next
If I were generating the list from a linqQuery or some other such query it would make sense to generate that list at the for each loop statement thus not having the list in memory twice for example.
for each x in myList.where(function(x) x.name = Y)
'do something
next
If the LINQ query is unreadable on the for each loop, do I forgo readability and just put it on the for each loop declaration line? Should I declare the list in its own variable and just bite the bullet and have the list exist twice in memory?

I've reached a point where it's time to learn how to Read/Write XML files properly and I'm really confused to how we're supposed to do this. I've been reading up on using the XmlDocument, but all I'm finding is how to use it to read xml files. Right now I need to Write them, later I'll code the reading of them.
The data for the XML file comes from a couple of tables in a database too, I've got a Master/Child table (actually there's 5 child tables). I've got the data coming into DataTables and I've got the loops set up already, I'm just stuck to how do I take the Master table's row and store that data as an XmlNode then loop each of the 5 child DataTable's and add each row as a child node to the master's node.

While looking in the dataset designer for a database table I am doing in visual basic 2008 I found a line for expressions under the property menu for a specific column. I need to know the code that I would put in this expression line so that this column adds up the numbers I input into three other columns and displays that number in the column. I need it to automatically calculate this for each row in the database table.

Sorry for the big post but here is the entire XML file for reference. Can anyone see why this isn't working, or give me an example of how to make it work some other way? [code]

I have a function called IIf declared in the expression context I'm using. [code]How can I work around this. I mean cannot , in sense, write all possible overloads of the function of all .net primitive types. What approach should I take.

There are multiple occurances of the PLUS_BORROWER data. For each occurence of PLUS_BORROWER, I want to save the CREDIT_SCORE and DAYTIME_PHONE_NBR when the Type= And SOCIAL_SECURITY_NBR are certain values. Then I want to execute a loop and extract the Credit_Score and Daytime_Phone_Nbrs.
<PLUS_BORROWER Type="Primary"> <SOCIAL_SECURITY_NBR>123459999</SOCIAL_SECURITY_NBR> <CREDIT_SCORE ModelName="Emperica">793</CREDIT_SCORE> <DAYTIME_PHONE_NBR>4077889999</DAYTIME_PHONE_NBR> <DAYTIME_PHONE_EXT>101</DAYTIME_PHONE_EXT></PLUS_BORROWER>
I have the following code that will pull off the first PLUS_BORROWER if the Type='Primary', but I am having trouble expanding it.
oExtraData.Load(myXMLFile) 'only select nod with type attribute equal primary Dim oNode As Xml.XmlNode = oExtraData.SelectSingleNode("//PLUS_BORROWER[@Type='Primary']") 'get credit score node Dim scoreNode As Xml.XmlNode = oNode.SelectSingleNode("CREDIT_SCORE") MsgBox("I have the Primary") MsgBox("Credit score is " & scoreNode.InnerText)

This div has a class attribute of "itemPrice6", but problem is that this class appears few more times for other <div>s in which i'm not interested in. Makes the following statement about the code below:
**"The computer evaluates the loop condition in the Do...Loop statment to determine whether the loop instructions should be processed. In this case, the inputsales <> String.Empty condition compares the contenst of the input sales variable to the String.Empty value. As you know the String.Empty value represents a zero length, or empty, string if the inputsales variable is empty, the loop condition evaluates to True and the computer process the loop instructions. *If on the other hand the inputsales variable is not empty, the loop condition evaluates to false and the computer skips over the loop instructions.
Based on the code I think it is the opposite: ...that while the inputsales value is not empty it should evaluate to true and process the loop and if it is empty it should evaluate to false and skip the loop?
See below.

I have two XmlDocuments that both have a namespace attribute specified. Both documents have the same structure, but contain different data. I can't seem to get a specific node tree from one document added to the end of the same node tree in a second document. Here is an example of my two documents:
Document #1:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<rootnode xmlns="http://www.mynamespace.com/Service/2012-06-18">
[code]....
I certainly know this is wrong... I've tried serveral different approaches. This particular approach adds all <Item> nodes to the destination document, but it adds them to the very bottom of the document instead of after the last <Item>. how to add a specific node tree an XmlDocument to a specific position in another document? Again, there is a namespace involved and the <Item> nodes have nested nodes/elements under each one.
NOTE: The <Id> nodes have example data to show uniqueness only. I can never count on any kind of numbering. The order of each <Item> node is totally unimportant. I'm just assuming it will be easiest to add additional <Item> nodes after the last one in the destination document.
