Calling A Bunch Of Different Propertys?

Feb 3, 2012

im calling a bunch of different propertys named K0 to K6, im using a string to check which one i need to access, this is damn messy, how can i do it in a more clean way? Im convinced that strings are not the way to go so please give me a comment to get in the right direction.

Dim tempAntDec As Integer
Select Case wd.MClass
Case "K0" [code]....

I would like to call this in some other way like, this.. or dont know but i feel like there is a better way to handle this?

tempAntDec = wd.allMeasUnc.KValue.antDec

Add Xml A Node With A Bunch Of Children Nodes In .Net?

Nov 3, 2011

I need to modify a xml file (actually a .rdlc report file) and add some nodes which have a lot of children nodes (and those children nodes again have children nodes). Actually they are almost the same strucutre, like this one:

<TablixRow>
<Height>0.23622in</Height>
<TablixCells>

[Code].....

and it will add my specified NS. (like I said, XElement.Parse(string) won't add it) So now I can construct the correct node. For my second problem I still can't figure out: I can't navigate to the target node by using the element name since it won't search for correct NS.

How To Use C# To Automate Bunch Of Print Jobs

Oct 21, 2011

I am developing an automation tool which is reading the file path from an Excel workbook and after launching the application I am firing print job using SendKeys.SendWait() for Ctrl+P and Enter key. Now the Problem is, I am facing synchronization issue for launching the application and handling the print procedure keys.Sometimes Applications are launching little late(like Excel and MsWord files), so at that time I am not able to find till how long I have to wait for a successful launch of the Application. Anybody have any Idea how to check this waiting time till how long I should wait to fire CTRL+P and then after getting PrintDialog ENTER button ?

Listview With A Bunch Of Items Which All Use Checkboxes

Dec 8, 2011

I've got a listview with a bunch of items which all use checkboxes. Each time an item is checked or unchecked I want to save the selection. Whilst saving/loading the selection is not an issue, I can't seem to find an event which triggers AFTER the checked item has been changed. For example, the ItemChecked event will fire when an item has been checked or unchecked but the event will give it's checked status BEFORE it was changed. I've had to resort to saving the list when it loses focus but this isn't ideal.

Read Bunch Of Items From Registry?

item1 = My.Computer.Registry.GetValue(KeyValue, "item1", Nothing)
item2 = My.Computer.Registry.GetValue(KeyValue, "item2", Nothing)
Is there a smarter, more compact way to do this?

I was thinking of using a dictionary object, but it doesn't work as planned:

Dim dict As New Dictionary(Of String, String)

dict.Add("item1", Nothing)
dict.Add("item2", Nothing)

Adding A Bunch Of Values To A List(Of T) Collection At Once?

Mar 12, 2010

I am creating an instance of a Generic List collection and I am surprised to find that I can't add more than one value to it at a time. I was thinking there was going to be something like what you can do with arrays, where you can add a group of values to it at creation. I saw the AddRange method, but that seems to add another collection to the end of this collection, which is not what I want. So my code is:

vb

Dim MyList as New List(Of String)
MyList.Add("John")
MyList.Add("Bob")

Datagridview That Shows A Bunch Of Data Through A Database?

Sep 11, 2009

Ok I have a datagridview that shows a bunch of data through a Database. So I have the script connect to the database and I have a while loop going so that it keeps searching through the database to make sure it "publishes" all of the data in there. My problem is, it doesn't show the first set of data. For example: I have 2 columns, one header is Name, and the other is Y/N. The data in the database:

Jim, N
Alex, Y
Pat, N
George, Y

When I run the program, and it populates the datagridview, the first set of data is removed, so it only shows Alex, Pat, and George. Does anyone know why this happens? Does it perhaps have something to do with the column headers writing over the first set of data?

Form Application That Launches A Bunch Of Shortcuts?

Jan 18, 2011

I've written a very simple form application that launches a bunch of shortcuts. There's one particular one I want to launch, but it's got a lot of switches with special characters. I can't figure out how to make the switches/arguments into a string so that VB2010 will pass it to the executible cleanly.. Here's what I did, I'm sure it's laughable, but I guess everyone starts somewhere:

Private Sub Button11_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button11.Click
Dim MyString As String = ","/CitrixShortcut: (1) /QLaunch "CHCFarm:Citrix Console""
Process.Start("C:Program FilesCitrixICA Clientpnagent.exe",MyString)

Store References To A Bunch Of Structs In A Collection?

Oct 28, 2011

I would like to store references to a bunch of structs in a collection. The general scaffolding looks like this:

Structure myStructType
Dim prop1 as String
Dim prop2 as int
End Structure

[Code]....

now this doesn't work, because it's referencing the same memory. What I would really want is the 'pass reference by value' behaviour that is also used for reference types, so that I can easily keep producing more of them.

Is there any way to fix this other than to make the structs into classes? Is this actually a proper way to use structs, or do I have it all wrong?

.net - Moving To Win 7 X64 Generates Bunch Of Compile Errors In Designer?

I support small local customers with VB2008 and MS Access applications (not VBA!). When I had to replace my machine, the new one came with Win7 64bit. Things failed immediately. I figured out how to compile VB for x86; but when I did that, I got a bunch of compile errors from the designer code, not my own. Typical of the errors is this one:

===Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'Add' can be called with these arguments:'Public Function Add(name As String) As System.Data.DataTable': Value of type 'Lozier01_PaintInventory.ds.InventoryDataTable' cannot be converted to 'String''Public Sub Add(table As System.Data.DataTable)': Value of type 'Lozier01_PaintInventory.ds.InventoryDataTable' cannot be converted to 'System.Data.DataTable'.

Allow User To Scan A Bunch Of Barcodes And Save Them In The Database?

Apr 28, 2010

I made a small application in VB.NET that allows user to scan a bunch of barcodes and save them in the database.Application works both for the regular computer browser and handheld pocket PC.Barcode can be either scanned into upc text field and automatically submitted to db or numbers can be manually added into upc text field and pressing Enter will add it to db.There are also two buttons on the page. One button "Clear" is to clear upc field in case user started a manual input and didn't like it. Second button "Exit" logs out a user.

User should just scan a barcode and it will be automatically added to db without pressing any Submit button so user can go through a lot of barcodes fast. In order to achieve this, upc text field has AutoPostBack property set to True.Then in the Page_Load event if len(upc.text)>0, then data from upc.text gets submitted to db and upc.text gets empty again.If len(upc.text) =0, nothing happens.So it works fine in case of a handheld. It scans and sets upc.text to empty string. So if I scan and press Exit button after that, I just exit without a problem.

But there is a bug if I input a upc number manually and then press an Exit button for some reason. Pressing a button causes the page to reload and number gets submitted to the database anyway though I just wanted to exit. In fact, if there is any data in the upc field, any action, pressing Enter, pressing the button, clicking with mouse on the screen, causes that data to be submitted to db in the page_load event.How can I avoid this situation if I still want items to be submitted automatically without pressing any button while scanning?

Append A Bunch Of Files Into Daily Data Sets?

Feb 16, 2012

I am a newbie at VB.net and would like for you to review my code in order to improve its performance.My objective is to append a bunch of ".csv" files into daily data sets. Within a directory I have about 2500 individual text file (.csv). Each file represents minute intraday stock market data for an individual stock covering 5 days or one week of data. This means that each symbol has 1950 string lines..Here is an example of what a string line looks like: "2011-06-27,10:07,48.15,48.15,48.02,48.02,25421". Not that is relevant but these represent Date, time,Open, High, Low, Close & Volume. Since I have 2500 files within a directory; doing some math, I am processing 2500*1950 = 4,875,000 lines. This process takes me about 16 hrs to run.[code]

Make Multiple Enemies Without Creating A Bunch Of Pictureboxe?

But how do I create an infinite amount of these enemies that will travel down the form?

The only way I know how is to just create a bunch of picture boxes and hide them all, and then each time a timer clicks one of them is visible, and starts traveling down the screen. There must be an easier way.
