Calling A Function Passing Array Content As Parameters?
Oct 27, 2009
I'm program to handle ftp multiple file transfers. What I had in mind was to create an array for each type of file I need to process. There are 8 file types each needs to be transferred to a unique host.
' Each array contains in order: FILENAME|SOURCE PATH|DESTINATION PATH|HOST|USERNAME|PASSWORD
Dim arrA() As String = {"*a*.dat", "/destpath1/", "host1", "id", "pass"}
I'm currently working with a client's VB.Net code, which was developed for them by a small development shop a few years ago and which they purchased and have been maintaining and uprgrading since. This client's primary developer is out on indefinite (likely permanent) medical leave and I'm now filling in until they bring in a full timer (as I'm a contractor here). My current task is to add some functionality to a the VB.Net code they purchased. I'm finding practices and techniques in the code that absolutely baffle me and can't make the code do what I want. I'm starting to wonder if it's me and was hoping to get some thoughts on the code I've encountered.
For example: Setting a variable to accept the result of a function by calling the function with many parameters, clearing the parameters in the function, setting them to some value, calling another function with those new values, then never using the values returned by the functions. I'll add a code snippet in the first comment since this is already getting long.
I need to convert the following C# code to VB.NET:
public bool TryGetRewriteMatch(UrlContext url, out RedirectMatch match) { // NOTE: Normally this would use regular expression matches, cached database
[Code].....
However, I need to reference Url and ProductID in the function and I don't know how to pass them as parameters or get their values from the original function.
Code: Public Function ExecuteDataReaderSP( _ ByVal storedProcedureName As String, _ ByVal ParamArray arrParam() As SqlParameter) As SqlDataReader[code]....
I try various ways to pass the parameters, every time it return a different error.How is the correct way to pass those parameters?
I am creating a dll with all the functions and subroutines that I use all the time and I decided to create a function that I can pass different types of array to so the function obviously (or not) would have an array of type object. Now I no you can pass any type into an object type but when I pass an integer array into an object array I get an error.
value of type '1-dimensional array of integer' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of object' because 'integer' is not a reference type.
Shared Function CompareArray(ByVal FirstArray() As Object, ByVal SecondArray() As Object, Optional ByRef ErrorMessage As String = "") As Boolean Dim IntArrayOne() As Integer = {1,2,3,4,5} Dim IntArrayTwo() As Integer = {1,2,3,5,6} Dim IsSame As Boolean = False IsSame = CompareArray(IntArrayOne(), IntArrayTwo())
i am using XML as database, so updating or inserting diffrent XML's currently i am manage a seprate class for seprate XML file, this process consuming my lot of time, i want to create a genrelize class. currently according to the XML need i am sending two, three, four or five parameter in my function.
now i want to send array of the parameter to my function, so becoz of this thing i could mange all of my functions via a single class...
i am sending u the example what currently i use now...
Public Function Update(ByVal Item_ID As Long, ByVal ProductName As String, ByVal Price As Long, ByVal Path As String) As Long Try
pass an array to a function, like the code below shows
Private Sub SomeFunction(ByVal PassedArray() As String) For i As Integer = 0 To PassedArray.Count - 1 Debug.WriteLine(PassedArray(i))
[code]....
But is there a way to pass a constant array to a function in VB .Net, for instance in PHP you could write
function SomeFunction($array) { for($i=0;$i<count($array);$i++) {
[code]....
So to reiterate: Is there any way to pass a constant array directly to a function in VB .Net? Is there any benefit in doing so? I imagine a few bytes of memory could be spared.
PS.SomeFunction({"some", "array", "member"}) ' this obviously gives a syntax error
I am trying to use a simple quicksort routine for a multidimensional array but cannot figure out the syntax. I am stumped because it works fine in VB6 but no luck in .Net
Array Declaration: Dim sArrIn(25000, 3) As String 'sort key (pkg, kitting, zip), kitting, data Function Call:
I'm a beginner when it comes to Visual Basic coding and I need some help with an error I'm getting. I'm trying to pass a structure array to a function to figure out a student's grade. I'm getting the error that 'QuizOne' is not a member of System.Array. Here is my code:
I need to pass an uint8 array from C++ DLL to VB6 application but I receive always following error: "subscript out of range" if I try to work with the array 'pabyData' in my VB6 procedure. The C procedure is: typedef void (__stdcall *FUNCPTR2SendData) (const uint8_t* pabyData, uint16_t wDataLength); void SendData(const uint8_t* pabyData, uint16_twDataLength) { FUNCPTR2SendData vbFunc; vbFunc = (FUNCPTR2SendData) ptCBFPointers->p2NewDirectDataSMSEvnt; // ptCBFPointers are call back pointers, where is saved the call back address of VB6 functions vbFunc(pabyData, wDataLength); } The VB6 procedure is: Public Sub SendData(ByRef pabyData() As Byte, ByVal wDataLength As Integer
I am interested in developing a multi-language program that will have a main .NET GUI but will perform calculations by calling procedures from a Fortran95 dynamic link library file. Right now I am just playing around with a very simple project in order to get the interoperability between the .NET framework and a Fortran95 (*.dll) file working correctly. So far, I've been able to pass the Fortran95 (*.dll) file an array from VB, sum all the elements of the array using an intrinsic Fortran function, and pass the scalar result back to the .NET framework with no problem. However, if I try passing Fortran the exact same array, construct the transpose of that array using another intrinsic Fortran function, and try passing the transposed array back to the .NET framework I keep throwing an exception. I am not a programming wiz, but it appears that when Fortran stores an array in memory, the .NET framework doesn't know how to read that. I am looking for some guidance on how to pass an array from the Fortran95 (*.dll) file back to the .NET framework.
So if I create an object test, and it has a property color. When I add this object to an array list I typically can access this using myarray(0).color but intellisense doesn't 'know' that I have a 'test' object inside the array. It would let me type myarray(0).whatever but would then crash if I made typo. It seems like I should be able to let it know what type of object I am trying to work with inside the arraylist. In code maybe something like this
is there a way to get the GET parameters and POST parameters in just one function or Collection in ASP.NET? Like using $_REQUEST in PHP? I'm using VB.NET.
DELIMITER $$ CREATE DEFINER=`root`@`%` PROCEDURE `Check1`( IN P_Name VARCHAR(50) ,OUT P_Id INT
[code]....
as various columns I need use VB .Net to call this procedure, insert value into the database and get the ID (primary key - company ID).Whenever I insert a row, I need to retrieve the ID. Right now, I am able only to insert the row, but don't know how to call a SP with both input and output parameters from VB.
I have an xml file which is around 7MB, i do not want to parse it, i just want to send this file using VB via xmlhttp (post) to a cgi script that can read whatever string i give it.the issue is with this part of the code xmlhttp.send((xmlDoc)), since xmlDoc loads, but it is not really interpreted as a string. what is the best way to overcome this?
Sub Main() Dim xmlhttp As Object 'Dim xmlDoc As New Xml.XmlDocument
to solve my problem regarding dataset, crystal reports and exporting to pdf file? There are datas when i preview the crystal reports but when i export it to pdf viewer there's no data displayed. Here's my
DataOpen() cmd.CommandText = "Select * From AllDTR Where BIOID = '" & myuser & "' AND Date > '08/31/2009' ORDER by Date"
I have a form with 2 dateTimePickers and a SHOW button which gets data from an sql server database and displays it in a DataGridView. this works ok. I also have an EDIT button which brings up another form with textbox and comboBox controls displaying this one record. I want to be able to click in the DataGridView to select a Name and then click on the EDIT button to bring up the selected record. I don't know how to pass the ID as a parameter to this second form. Apart from that the EDIT button works, in the sense that I hard coded the ID (32 or 35 etc.) and it brings up the appropriate record. But how do i pass the selected ID. [Code]
I have a DataSet1.xsd This is connected to my access DB through OleDB. the DataSet Designer is stating that my column in my table is of type Double. Which is true when I verify it by opening Access and viewing that same column in my table.
I need to pass a parameter to my fill query so that on formload it populates the controls. I create the parameter in the dataset designer and give the paramter a name and specify the proper data type.
I edit the query to include the parameter.
on form load the generated code from the dataset designer inserts the fill command for the table adapter but doesn't include the parameter data, so I manually insert the data to be passed to the parameter.. This is where I get an error stating that datatype mismatched..
[code]This works fine and passes 8 parameters into the sysimp.bat file. The problem is if I try to pass in a value that has a space between the text then it will treat it as two parameters rater than one.So if P1 value is for example "Hello World" then when passed into the bat file it will assign "Hello" to P1 & "World" to P2. Is there a way to wrap the text in the parameters or should this be done in the .bat file?
