the title says it all but, I guess I really should be asking the question: does it make sense to call images from photobucket in a vb project. Has anyone had any success with a project of this type? The reason that I'm asking this question is that I'd rather not store the imgs for my vb project in my database if at all possible.

For example i open an image to my system, and it's file name was "WhiteHouse.jpg" and i added or tagged it as "Building". Once i search on my computer, and type the word/keyword "Building", the image "WhiteHouse.jpg" will be displayed on search results as i tagged it on my system.Is that possible guys? or i can only search by tags using my system/application? and not in the search command in my computer?If it is possible please tell me what to do. or if you have sample vb.net2008(windows Application) files it will be helpful. It has to deal with LOTS of images (100's potentially) There will be the set of default images, and then the user created replacement images. I started loading all the defaults into a resx file... thinking then I could just pull them out. now that I started setting the default, this sucks! lol the app will do this, on load it will set all the images (variables) to the resx images then when a theme is loaded, it will replace the default with the user image (if the user img exists) otherwise, the default stays. Then the "screen" is drawn to show the user. so, here is just the images to build the wallpaper, dock, and status bar...

I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?

I can make the lights randomly flash using a randomGenerator and a Select case statement. However, the code is very long. There are 67 lights on this tree and the code is 71 pages long. is the VB correct? Do I need to add anything like an interface to it? Assuming I want to call it over COM not C++/CLI, how do I do that. (This seems like the logical choice as the client already calls other stuff over COM; however, I'm not sure where to get the IDispatch pointer from, in my other code it's passed to me by the client). View 2 RepliesI have a need to create a Tcl extension that calls a managed .NET DLL/Class Library. Currently, the structure of my application is Tcl > DLL Wrapper (C++ CLR) > .NET Class Library (VB.NET), where ">" represents a function call.
My VB.NET DLL just takes a value and returns it back, keeping it simple for now. In the end, this will do some more advanced stuff that makes use of some .NET functionality.

If my VB.NET DLL is in the same directory as my extension DLL, the extension crashes when it instantiates a TestClass object. I've noticed if the VB.NET DLL is relocated to C:Tclin, the extension will find it, and TestCmd can be called just fine. The problem is that this will eventually need to be deployed across a number of PCs, and it's preferred not to mingle my application's files with another application's.

my code does a lot of runs of old 16 bit .EXEs inherithed from DOS era, but it does not work on 64 bit.
The cmd file calls a web service that is used to select specific data. When I run the .cmd file manually (as in clicking on it) it runs correctly an saves the file with the information in the appropriate location. However when i try to do this with the .Net app the file is saved however there is no data in it. Why is it when I physically click this same .cmd file with my mouse it works but not when I call it from my application.
