View 8 RepliesI have application with 2 forms (Form1, Form2), when i click in a button in form1, form2 open.when form2 opened & I switch to other window and try to switch back to my application (By clicking in its icon in taskbar), it switch to form1.I need when form2 open & click in taskbar, it switch to form2 & also when form2 open I can't edit or type anything in form1.Exactly the same as the below scenario in windows:when I open any new window from "Windows Properties" (Right click my computer), and switch back to windows properties, it will switch to the new window not to the main Windows properties window

When "Enter" is clicked, I want the form to then display the contents of form 2, which might include more buttons and/or a textbox, etc. I want to do all this without ever opening or closing a form.
View 3 RepliesI am making a program with a few calculators (for now only one calculator is finished). Now, I am trying to make a frontend for the calculator(s). I want to know how to program the frontend, so that when a button is clicked, it would switch to the calculator picked. When I made the desktop version of this calculator before (in Visual Basic 2010), I used the Calculator1.Show() function, but now that function does not exist!

How to capture when a user switched application windows. Basically what i want to do is for example is when EVER a user works inside Microsoft Word i want the CAP lock to be turned on. When they leave Microsoft word's app window and select a new app the CAPS button would turn off. Then when they return back to Word caps turns back on. I have code I found in another post on how to turn CAPS on, now i just don't now how to automatically capture application switches running all the time. My idea is to create a small app that can be minimized to the system tray then let it run and capture all thE app changes.
View 5 RepliesHere's an example of what I mean: I have Microsoft Word open. I click 'Save As' to open the SaveFileDialog. When I try to click back into Word the SvaeFileDialog window flashes and it plays a beep noise. More importantly, it doesn't let the main program gain focus whilst it's open.

I have a solution with two applications in it. One is a windows form application that I want to use to set and manage a windows SERVICE application app settings.
For example. The form has the database connection string on it, when updated. The windows service application settings are updated.. I can get it to work for the windows application, but I need to jump boundries to the other application( Windows Service) and update the app settings there.
I have got the program to record from the microphone and save it, while this works fine, what im trying to figure out is when the program is recording the voice of the user i would like it to display this in a ProgressBar to show the input moving up and down and the user speaks? any help would be apriciated.

View 2 RepliesI have a web browser on my form and it is definitely big enough to warrant a tab control, with the web browser being on the second tab. I have a button on the first tab that should have the browser navigate, but how do I make the program automatically switch to tab 2? i.e., this is what happens:
1 - user is on tab 1,
2 - user clicks a button on tab 1,
3 - the program does what it needs to do and automatically switches to tab 2
For instance, here is the button that will be clicked:

So the button will make the web browser go somewhere, I just want to have the form switch to the other tab automatically so that the user doesn't have to do it. I tried using webbrowser1.focus() to no avail. Is there a tab switch?
I am not new to programming but have little experience and am trying to learn VB 2010.
We have HP Procurve network switches and I know that with a telnet application I can login to the switch and it will tell me which MAC address is connected to which switch port. Im trying to write a computer inventory program to track my computers and it would be really cool if I could figure out how to determine which computer is plugged into which port on the switch. Problem is that I have no idea how to go about doing that.
Is this anything anyone has tried before or does anyone know how to go about doing it?

How to switch off the annoying (to me anyway) horizontal line that seperates procedures in Vb?
I've setup a new Dev machine for myself and for the life of me I can't figure out how to switch it off in VS2008.My mind is obviously failing with age, I know I did it on the old machine!
Basically what I want to do is create a program that every now and then (maybe 10 minutes) switches between either, all the windows currently open, or a selection of all the windows currently open, then checks the colour of a location on the screen. At the moment I have the program checking the colour at a specific coordinate, so that's all good. The problem I have now is how to switch between windows.
I've thought up a few ways to do this. The windows that I care about checking all have the same name, the same process class, but different process IDs. I already managed to stick all the process IDs into an array of integers hoping that I could use them but I don't have a clue how to bring a window to front using just the process ID. So the first method would work if I could figure out a way to do that.
My second idea, which is a pretty rubbish way of doing it, would be to simply simulate pressing Alt+Tab however many times to change between windows.
My programming days are many years in the past - so I'm trying to get back into it. My current problem is as follows - I have a word document that is set up as a mailmerge document that is merged to email (through outlook). The merge records are in an excel spreadsheet (the email address is in a field called EMAIL). My emails are getting rejected by the recipient domain because they're being sent too fast (so they therefore think that they're spam).
I need to create a VB Program that will use the document called MASTER and merge it with the spreadsheet called RECIPIENTS and send via Outlook. However, I need it to send the first 10 emails, wait 10 minutes, send the next 10, wait another 10 minutes and continue cycling through until all of the emails have been sent.

I want to calculate the sum of either all "Even", "Odd" or "All" numbers according the selection. In the code below, I have the "all" section working correctly but I'm trying to figure out a way to get the Even and Odd to work.
Some one suggested me to develope a good formula for determining whether a number is even or odd, then calling that from within the program as needed.
