Capture All Doubleclick Events In A DataGridView?
Oct 12, 2010
I'm writing a Windows Forms app that uses a DataGridView control. I have row select enabled on the control. I would like to trap the DoubleClick event, but it doesn't seem to fire reliably - I often have to double-click on a row 2 or 3 times before the event is triggered. Could anyone point me to a way to capture this more reliably?

Within my program, I'd like to allow the user to hold the CTRL key down while double-clicking with the mouse. Specifically, within the treeview control, I'd like to allow the user to be able to CTRL-DoubleClick but the DoubleClick event has the EventArgs parameter that doesn't provide any keyboard data.I'm guessing that this is possible, but I'm just drawing a blank on how to implement it.

When I double-click on a row in a DGV I first have to single-click the row to select it before the CellDoubleClick event will fire. Is this the normal behavior? Is there any way to just double-click any row & have the event fire everytime

I am very new to programming so let me apologize for that upfront.I am using Visual Studio 2008 and have created a windows application form. I have the form connected to an MS Access database named vendors.accdb. I have added a DataGridView to my form named VendorsDataGridView. I have also added a RichTextBox to my form named RichTextBox1.[code]I have my form setup to run queries that compare like items from different vendors and display them in the VendorsDataGridView.what I need the form to do is when I doubleclick on a particular row (in the VendorsDataGridView) I need it to copy to the RichTextBox1 and go down to the next line so I can add more rows from different queries.I need to understand what goes between the Private Sub and End Sub of this:[code]I could use a textbox instead of a richtextbox if need be.I have searched high and low for the answer to this. I have tried a variety of things but none have worked. I have been reading different books to try and understand Visual Basic code better but I am too new to programming to get the doubleclick event to work.

I've written an app with a simple textbox which attempts to identify a user from their typing habits (interval between key presses, duration key is held, time between key strokes ie a->s is quicker than a->v for some users, shorter for others depending on typing style). It's far from perfect but it does correctly identify moderate-large differences in style.I'm hoping to use this as a form of security monitor - If the typing style of the user doesn't fit a recognised pattern, report to a central server.
Of course, the next step in testing this is to begin to capture "regular" typing habits - ie when browsing, switching between apps, etc.What I can't figure out how to do is capture keyboard input for all applications (excluding the login/welcome screen, alternate desktops, etc. - I have no reason to parse that and there's probably not enough input to analyse anyway)Disclaimer: Yes, I know this comes dangerously close to writing a keylogger which is verboten but if I wanted to do that, I'd write a keyboard driver in C++ - I'm sure it would be far more streamlined and easier to obfuscate than a hulking .Net MSIL assembly. I have no doubt I'll be fending off "That's a keylogger" comments but I've hit a wall and need to ask somewhere.

how can I capture an event like a button click or timer event, if I created the controls at run-time?
Ex: Dim a As Button

I want to capture the click event of the button "a" and the timer event of the timer "b".

I am trying to capture SHUTDOWN and LOGOFF Events, so that I can be alerted when my process stops. The below code works in detecting these events. I am trying to get it to release the monitoring of the system events after the email has been sent, Being newer to VB, I am not sure how to do this. I copied this code from another google forum.

I'm trying to automate a product that provides no such automation capability.I've take a cursory look at loading the app in a separate AppDomain, and also, through reflection, executing the Program.Main() to get the app running. I also tried getting the windowhandle from a separately created Process object (which I've learned will not work).If I have a reference to their assembly added to my project so I can reference an instance of "TheirProduct.FormMain", what, if it's possible, is the best way to go about capturing events from that form? What I need to do is to be able to capture a couple events, and perform a few Button.PerformClick() against the form.

I am trying to find a way to capture keyboard events with the intent of preventing users from being able to hit Ctrl + Alt + Del while my application is running. I've spent several hours poking around looking for inspiration but only finding unclear and half-baked examples. As such, I was thrilled to stumble across the article: Managing Low-Level Keyboard Hooks in VB .NET written by Paul Kimmel [URL] This article is insightful, comprehensive, well-written, and I thought it was a huge help. One little problem though, the code that was provided did not work, (I knew it was too good to be true!).
Now, Mr. Kimmel seemed very knowledgable and I think that he probably tested his code, so quite likely the problem is something that I'm doing wrong seeing as I am a newbie. As the article suggests I cut and pasted his code into a module in my project (solution I guess is the proper term), and I call the HookKeyboard method from a button on a form, and Presto! Nothing happens. Stepping through this code I see that the second line in HookKeyboard:

I've been searching all over and I'm either not searching for the right words or it just doesn't exist. I've got a datagridview (dgv) on a form with some textboxes that are databound to different fields in the dgv's datasource. I want to capture an event if someone changes a value through one of the databound controls so I can mark the row as modified. I've been going through the dgv events trying to capture something, but I can't find anything that fires when a value is changed. The dgv is read only, so the values can only be changed through the databount textboxes.
How to I know if someone changes a value in the dgv? Is there a setting in the dgv that will tell me if a row is modified?

I have written an application which extracts a list of URL's (currently in Internet Explorer cache) from an XML file and displays them in a data grid view. From here I would like to launch Internet Explorer in a hidden mode and capture an image for each of the selected URL's in the data grid view. Is this possible?

I have a DataGridView on a windows form.
The 4th column is a combo box column.
Now what I want to do is capture the event every time a value is changed in the combo box drop down (selectedindexchanged). When the index is changed, I want to grab the row number, and then I will grab the value of the now selectedindex and do some database updates with it.
I currently have tried to put together an event grabber when the combo box is changed, however it doesn't work correctly.
My code is:
Private Sub dgvRooms_EditingControlShowing(ByVal sender As Object, _
ByVal e As DataGridViewEditingControlShowingEventArgs) _
Handles dgvRooms.EditingControlShowing
[Code].....
I put in a message box to check that it was capturing the event. I then noticed that it captures it more than once when you change the value.
The problem is when I go to click the down arrow on the row, the event is run once (message box show). Then you have to click a second time (event is run again with message box) before it shows the drop down list.
Then when you click on the value you wish in the drop down box it shows the message box (the only time I want it to run).
Then when I leave that row, it shows the message box two more times.
Effectively it goes to update the data 5 times, I only want to do it once.
I can not there is a pencil editing icon when you click on a row to the far left, and it appears when you leave the row, after already clicking on your value, it then checks on row leave that the values havn't changed, hence it runs two more times.
How do I make it so it only runs once on the value being changed?
Is there a way to disable the pencil editing, but still enable the combo box column to work? (be clickable and choose an option)

I want to capture the original value and the new value from a cell in the DataGridView control. When leaving the row, I tried:
dgDataEntry.EndEdit()
Dim row As DataRow
row = tbl2.Rows(e.RowIndex)
Dim m_orig, m_curr As Decimal
m_orig = row.Item("amount", DataRowVersion.Original)
m_curr = row.Item("amount", DataRowVersion.Current)
And the values were the same. How can I capture the different values?

I'm using a DGV to show some data & I'm using the CellClick event to run some code when the user clicks on each row. But I also want to run some other code if the user double clicks a row, but the CellDoubleClick event never fires, the CellClick event just fires twice. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make both events work?

I have a mixed DGV of bound fields and an unbound checkbox. The DGV uses an SQL statement with a Group By clause. I then populate the DGV via table adapter/DS. So, I have two issues, first I need to get the status from another table that has the value of 0 or 1 in a column and set that checkbox. The part number already loaded into a cell will link to this table. I cannot link this table directly to my Group By table because it would lose its logic. The second issue, is changing the checkbox and saving it both to this table and the DGV for display.
I'm confused at which events in the DGV will need to be fired to do these tasks?This code seems to work OK but seems to run a little slow. So, i'm wondering if my approach to this is incorrect.
Private Sub DGVAdviceSummary_CellValueNeeded(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellValueEventArgs) Handles DGVAdviceSummary.CellValueNeeded

I have a datagridview populated from a dataset datatable and all works well. Changing the values of columns updates the datatable except - if the 1st value changed is the last column on a row, the cellparsing and cellvaluechanged events don't fire. Others may not fire but these two I've been working with. The CellLeaving event fires and the RowLeaving event fires. Going back to the cell and changing the value again does cause the events to fire and everything works fine than.
why the events are not firing the 1st time a value is changed?
In debug I see that the datagridview iscurrentcelldirty value is true and also edit mode.

I have a windows form that can search for data and the results are results are returned in a Datagridview. The Datagridview is bound to a custom datatable object. On the CellDoubleClick and CellContentDoubleClick events, a new form is supposed to open which will display the results of that row. What I am noticing is that the datagridview doesn't always fire when I immediately double-click on a particular row. It would appear that I have to first click on the row to "select" it, then double-click the row so the event will fire. Is there a way to remove this intermediate "select" step? Is there a property in the Datagridview that needs to be activated so the double-click events will fire right away? Does something possibly need to be done in another DatagridView event?

I'm using the MouseDown to create objects, they are used within MouseMove and they are killed within MouseUp Event. Now I want to use the Doubleclick Event to build in some shortcuts. My problem is that the MouseUp routine is called sometimes before the DoubleClick routine. I do need the MouseDown Event before starting the DoubleClick code, however sometimes the MouseUp event is triggered which is killing the needed objects.
Is it possible to get the DoubleClick-event routine always without the MouseUp routine?

I am setting up a GUI and at one place I have a group box (say GroupBox1) containing several controls (say CheckBox1, Button1 and ComboBox1). Now for some specific reasons, I want to be able to disable the controls within the GroupBox1 by double clicking in the group box, and then to re-enable them again by double clicking the disabled GroupBox1. I do not want to enable/disable the controls separately, because I need to duplicate this operation for GroupBox2 to GroupBox10...I've sort of gotten the disable part right with the following
Private Sub GroupBox1_DblClick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles GroupBox1.Enter
GroupBox1.Enabled = Not GroupBox1.Enabled
End Sub
But it does not work very smoothly and I am also not able to re-enable it. I suspect that an disabled object (such as the GroupBox) does not register clicks.

So I am hacking together an app which listens to traffic using SharpPcap library, it reconstructs the packets from sessions using the code from TpcRcon.
Listening and reconstructing part work on their own . What I want is on each packet arrival main window gets an event so it can display the packet , and when session is reconstructed display a complete packet (I am interested in HTTP ones) . -That is where it breaks with weird symptoms: for example right now it does not stop on invoking stop listening method - the sharppcap library function hangs there forever waiting on this line of code : m_pcapThreadEvent.WaitOne();//wait for the 'stopped' signal from thread
I also had it not working and crashing in sharppcap function because I had omitted one parameter in form delegate- which makes no sense, because form delegate does not deal with packet capture at all and only reacts on "New Packet" event from my "Listener" class (which is only there to notify main form)
My app starts as module main instancing class "Listener". MainForm has it
registered as friend with event and handles even "New Packet"
Main Form:
Private Sub uiListenStart_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btListenStart.Click
aLogger.AddMessage("Started Listening")
[Code]....
