Sep 24, 2008how I could search a given bitmap, say "test.bmp" or a printscreen, for two pixels that are next to each other and that have specified color values? The colors are: &H486596 and &H213D66. I then want to return the pixel positions in the image at which they are first located adjacent to one another. I'm only after the first instance of the occurrence. I wish to use GetDIBits as I hear that it's quicker. So I want to find the first instance where the color value for pixel (x,y) = &H486596 and (x+1, y) = &H213D66.

Feb 28, 2012I am trying to draw a circle on the visual basic console. I have been told that the console is not made for this but i have to use it.
What I want to do is a circle with:
Centre (40,20)
Radius = 10
I know from basic trig that the following will give me the points on the circle:
x= (10 x CosA)+40
y=(10 x SinA) +20
(A) being an angle in radians.
Then combine x & y that will give me a point on the circle.
I want to use the '' Sets the cursor position
Console.SetCursorPosition(x, y)
Console.Write(".") "
To print a point(.) on the given position from the formulas above.
Now heres my question how do I get Visual Basic too calculate:
x= (10 x CosA)+40
y=(10 x SinA) +20
360 times i.e 0rad-2Pirad and then pass the x & y [(x,y)] point to my cursor position code so that a '.' is printed at that position. I.e I will end up with a circle made out of 360 '.'
I would asume that a loop is used and also an array to store the 360 Pi values. I'm finding it extremely hard to even get Vb to calculate the Cos of an angle.

Nov 5, 2011I have created a program that Draw a circle and then you can move it around a picturebox. I have made code so that it changes colour but instead of changing the colour of the circle already been drawn it creates a new circle which when you overlap the original circle with the new circle it cuts part of it.So what I wanted it to do when I change the colour of the circle it changes the colour of the circle already been drawn instead of creating a new circle.

Also I can't use the X and Y coordinate input to move the circle to the entered coordinates.

Jan 6, 2011The scrollbar that comes with the ListBox is too small for touch screens, so I use my own scrollbar instead. But when you do this on various forms you end up repeating a lot of code. So my solution was to create a custom scollbar that has a property I can set to the control I want it to be a scrollbar for. In vb6, I can use the withevents keyword to get access to the control's events so that all the scrollbar related code can be in the custom scrollbar object I created, except...I had to create a refresh method for the consuming code to use to let the scrollbar know when the number of items changes. The scrollbar doesn't need to be told how many items there are because it has access to the control, but for a listbox there is no event to tie into when an item is added/removed so not 100% of the scrollbar related code could be encapsulated.

Loop Computation Time Increases Dramatically With Small Change
Apr 3, 2012I recently made a change to the code within a loop in my code, and now when I run the code through Visual Studio 2010 Express, the loop runs about 10x slower than the previous loop.I did not make any significant changes (to my knowledge) to the code within the loop.I made the change so that the loop could handle various conditions I imposed in another section of the code.I know that it is this loop that is slowing everything down because I report the loop progress on my form.[code]I feel like my changed code should run better, but it doesn't.I know that my code is not written very efficiently (and feel free to comment on ways to improve it), but my main concern is the significant increase in computation time that resulted from my changes.The loop above is the main block of code within the Sub, which is run via a thread.In my tests, it is the only thread running at that time.Everything works, and the computation yields the correct result, but takes 10x longer than previously. Additionally, the number of iterations does not increase.So the new code isn't iterating excessively, it is simply taking much longer to compute within each iteration.

Apr 1, 2009I have a listview with a number of items with different color backrounds on each. But when i click on one of the items, the color of the item that the selection has just left turns to white, but it is recognised as being green/blue/whatever. If i open up another form on top of that one, and then close it, the colour comes back for the area that the form was covering.
I have a textbox that changes its backround color based on the color of the listview item currently selected, and that always shows the correct color.
I'v crawled the web and can only find one instance of it happening and that was a graphics accelerator problem, but i cant turn off my accelerator.

Dec 18, 2011i'm creating a game like text twist. that when i press letter a, i need to determine which picturebox contains letter a and display it to different location. that also goes to the proceeding letter a's. for example, i have a jumbled letters "aamba". in my code, it only gets the first letter a and removes it form the screen, it's nowhere to be found. and it won't recognize that i still have other letter a's i'm pretty sure about the location that i set it to be placed.here is my

Feb 10, 2010For example I only the second character in each line to be an x, while the 3nd to 10th character must be a hex digit.At the moment I use a Select Case, then check the position of the caret (using textbox.selectionstart) and see if the key being pressed is a "legal" character.Is there a better way of doing this as it slows down on large amounts of text.

Changing Picturebox X / Y Positions
Mar 5, 2011I'm trying to make my own clone of space invaders as it's been about a year since I've done any programming, and I imagine this will be a good way to get back into it. The main issue that I am having right now, is that I am basically clueless as to how I go about moving the player on a keypress. I have the code for the keyboard input correct, how to move my picturebox.

May 23, 2011I have 20 PictureBoxes named PictureBox2 through to PictureBox 21, where I need to conditionally set the positon of them. I was wondering if there is a more efficient way to set their positions than to copy the code out 20 times. This is what I have so far:
