Setup: 10 pc's connecting to a shared hard drive on a server connecting to a certain .mdb file from access 2003
Problem: We are a 3rd party tool for a Point of sale application and when the real software makes some modifications it locks certain tables which we don't lock. My ( Might be possible solution ) is: Is there a way to check with a query or an certain object if the table is locked if yes
Details: I want to compare these above two table1 and 2 . The unmatched records should be save in a new table .
objectives
1 Should take input the table and fields we want to match each other.
2 Then after searching or reading the record from table and selected fields save the unmatch records in a new table

I have VB 2005 windows application that is reading and writing records into Access 2003 database. After I deployed application to multiple servers - the database stays locked all the time - even if nobody has it open. When I check open files through Computer Manage - it doesn't show that anybody has it open. Yet - I can't delete .ldb file, I can't repair and compact the database to replace existing database, I can't rename database to replace it with other version.

I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?

I need to Update Access Database Table with Data from a Different Table. Not all the rows of original Table to be Updated will be affected. How do you loop through the 2 Tables to do the required Update.

I'm writing an asp.net page with a simple registration form that connects to my access database and inserts the values in the table. So I have my database, my registration page, everything looks fine in my code, but there's a syntax error I can't seem to figure out. When I go on my webpage and click submit, it says : Syntax error in INSERT INTO instruction.

I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset. However, there should be something simpler and faster than that, shouldn't it? Any idea?
View 6 RepliesMy program writes to a .txt file (and this is the ONLY program that writes to it) in a thread (with lowest priority), but every now and then it gets an error "The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file" when it executes this code: swLog.WriteLine(sPacket).Other program reads from the file, not write to it, why do I get this error, and how can I get around it, or what shall I do when I get this error since I can't write to the file ?

If not then open the lease form to a New record so the user can enter all the information for that lease.

View 1 Repliesmy program is "live" and my customer has troubles because it doesn't functioning as well as it should.I don't know what happen, did I changed something or not but suddenly data won't save to database from newly created forms. Beside this form I have additional 20 forms and everything is working like a charm and I use same code logic to save data to database. I tried to find myself what could be the reason, check by entering data directly to database table (works fine), check insert statement of dataset table (seems fine, too) and everything I could imagine. But now I ran out of ideas and I had to ask here.
Also, I added 3 fields to database table (nvarchar, int and decimal). All 3 of them allow nulls. I changed dataset and data entry form and now data won't insert if I dont enter values to int and decimal fields. Also, this decimal field doesn't accept 0 value if enter but if I assign value 0 from the code than it is ok. I'm not sure if I somehow changed concurrency and somewhere. I tried to find where I can change it but I couldn't find it. I use Visual Studio 2008 and Sql Server 2005 Express. Language vb.net.

When I try to insert a value into table1 it will compare the table values if it is same, It Should throw a error msg "Name and Date Already Exist" otherwise Insert a value. Before Inserting i want to check a textbox value with table value.
I have an 'invoices' table with a column for the invoice number.
When adding a new invoice, I would like to check if it already exists. If it exists, produce a MessageBox to the user that there's already a record with this number.
