Simply enough, I closed a design window, and now I can't reopen it.Whenever I click on the form in the Solution Explorer, there is no option to show the design view, yet I know that there is one.When I go to the folder where the files are stored, there is a file there is supposedly the design of the form I closed, but when I open it, all that appears is another window of code.

1. other parts of application are targeting other SQL server...just this adapter is updating only one row(table has two columns, some id and last time any of users changed something.
This reader is done in the form load event and is the very first thing done so I don't understand why it's telling me there is an open DataReader. I'm new to VB 2010 but have be using VB6 for many years.I'm currently stuck trying to store the state of open MDI childs at the moment the MDI parent is closed. Clicking the parent upper right close button appears to close all open MDI childs before running the parent 'Closing' or 'Disposed' events.I am therefore unable to detect which MDI childs are open and cannot restore them next time the application is run.Is there any other event for the MDI parent I can detect the start of the closing process before the children are closed?

I can set start position to manual but it wont drag and drop how do I move a form window in the design mode? added by TNT 1/24/09 I went back and checked VB5 the left and top positions were settable but only located the form during run time.

how to add a MainMenu to a form in VB 2008 Express using the design window. I only see MenuStrip in the toolbox. I can add a MainMenu programatically, but not visually. The reason I need a MainMenu and not a MenuStrip is for owner-drawing. None of the MenuStrip items seem to have an OwnerDraw property.

So there I was working on a project. I was putting the finishing touches on the GUI and clicked on the Image list I had added. VB froze up a moment, and when it came back I was on a code view of the form showing the properties I had just set up in the GUI. Suddenly, I can in no way view the form. I get a View code option, but no View designer. If I close out the project and open another, there it is "View Designer" right where I expect it. But in the project I was working on, it is just plain gone.
Is there something I am missing here? Can I recover my project?
If I run it in the debuger the whole form shows perfectly, I just can't get to it to edit it.

View 6 RepliesI am using Visual studio express 2008. I was working on a VB project for a few hours. Then I did something,(I think I just double clicked the form ) and I cannot open it in design mode. By Design mode I mean so you can see the controls, and ad buttons and stuff. The form still runs, if I run it. I see the form in the Solution explorer. From solution explorer, if I show all Files , then open FrmMain.Designer.vb, I can see my code. If I go to the project menu item and insert New Windows Form the new form works like I expect it too, I can see it. I need to be able to see my form.

Will the Cursor that is used by the datareader be freed ? or will it stay open ?
If the cursor that is used by the datareader is still open , when will it be automatically closed ? or should i just closed it manually ?

I am making a browser and i have putted tabs in it too. But when i click "open in new window" in my browser the internet explorar pops up. I want my browser window to pop up. Now when I go back to the solution explorer, I can see Admin.vb but it doesn't have the form icon and clicking it doesn't open the form. Instead it opens the code.All of my other forms are fine and have the right icons and open in the [Design] view ...The form obviously still exists as it opens in runtime but I can't seem to open the design view for it.
