Putting Words In Listbox With Code Instead Of Manually?

Dec 16, 2009

Currently I have a textbox with some words and the program randomly removes five words and inserts 5 textboxes below the main textbox for the user to enter his or her answers. The goal of the program is to help the user memorize the text on the program. They can hit a button and new words can be removed and the original words will return. This is so that user is not entering the same answers over and over again.

What I've done is I have created a Listbox and I want the words that are removed to be listed in the Listbox so that the user will have a wordbank to use and I want it to work so that when the user hits the button for new words then the listbox will replace the old words with the new ones.

Waiting For Threads - Thread.join Suspend Execution Of Code On Calling Thread Until Spawned Thread Finishes Or Is Aborted

Sep 2, 2010

My understanding is that thread.join will suspend the execution of code on the calling thread until the spawned thread finishes or is aborted...

With that in mind, I tried this:

For i = 1 to 50
threads = New Thread(AddressOf test)
threads.IsBackground = True
threads.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA)

[CODE]...

However, the rest of the code runs when the loop finishes, not waiting for all the spawned threads to finish. Since the rest of the code needs the threads to finish (otherwise the rest will error).

VS 2010 Multithreading, Putting Class Method On New Thread?

Jun 4, 2011

Right now I have a Email class that has all the properties of an email to send it, and then a SendEmail function which takes those properties and uses them in the following

Public Function SendEmail()
'Exception handling
Try

[Code]....

The loop goes through each email in the array to process its email, however with the multithreaded function I cannot call

"EmailArray(i).ThreadSendBatchEmail()"

So how do I call an objects method when its on a different thread?

And I'm making it multithreaded so I can easily pause the process, and because the program freezes when the send() function is working, this would resolve that.

[2008] Add Listbox Item From A Different Thread?

Jan 18, 2009

I've been trying to add to a listbox item from a different thread (thread 2) than the thread in which the form/listbox was created (thread 1).

When I check ListBoxItem.InvokeRequired from within thread 2 it is always false when ApartmentState.STA is set. When set to MTA I get an error. Thread 2 is a unique thread with different ID from thread 1.

What is frustrating is that at one point it was working fine, and then I changed some of the structure of the project and it has now stopped working (and I don't know which change caused this! It was a while ago).

This code is within a form class:

Option Strict Off
Option Explicit On
Imports System.Threading
Friend Class MainWinForm

VS 2008 Do Something On Each Item In Listbox And Multi Thread

Sep 18, 2011

this is going to be hard to explain but ill try. Question 1. Ok i have a list box with a few items, What i want for this example is to click a button and it will start on the first item and do: MsgBox ("this is item blah blah blah") then after that it will go to the next item and do the same and then the next and so on untill all have been done. The "blah blah" should be the item so if item was to say "hello" then the msgbox would say "this item is hello" I know this would be a lot of msgboxes to close, like if 50 items then thats 50 msgboxes to close, this is just for the example.

Question 2. Ok this is where ive tryed to learn but find it really hard (multithreading) Im wanting all to be multithreaded so all work at the same time, ive tryed a few times but the only way i see it is having a **** load of subs, like if i want it to use 10 threads then ill have to add the same code 10 times or somet, im not sure.

i have attempted all this and failed big time as my way was to get the first item and use that then remove it from the listbox BUT... with it being quite fast the 2nd 1 and 3rd 1 used the same item befor it was removed and to be honest i dont really want them removed. so my attempts took like 2-3 days that was a waste of time really. I Know this is a lot to ask but im in real need of it and these 2 things have driven me half mad.

Private Sub frmEnviarMensagem_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

Nov 3, 2011

This is the error message I am getting:

"Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Panel1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." The reason I am getting this error is because I am opening up a new form and then calling these three things:

Panel1.Show()
Label1.Show()
Label2.Show()

why I get this error message because it doesn't occur normally if I open Form2 after closing Form1, it only occurs when I open Form2 after closing Form4.

Cross-thread Operation Not Valid: Control 'Autocad' Accessed From A Thread Other Than The Thread It Was Created On

Jun 6, 2010

I have written an application that loads a form - frmCad as well as AutoCad. It does this via a class which detects when AutoCad quits.

Friend Class CadApp Private WithEvents AppObject As AcadApplication... Private Sub AppObject_BeginQuit(ByRef Cancel As Boolean) Handles AppObject.BeginQuit RaiseEvent Quit() End SubEnd Class

My main class loads frmCad as well as CadApp.

Public Class Cad Private WithEvents frmCad As CadForm Private WithEvents app As CadApp... Public Sub ShowForm() If frmCad Is Nothing Then frmCad = New CadForm frmCad.Visible = True End Sub... Private Sub app_Quit() Handles app.Quit frmCad.Dispose() frmCad = Nothing .... End Sub

When I debug the program, it stops at frmCad.Dispose()The program continues to execute, but all the code after it fails to work.Looking more carefully I get an error message which contains:-Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Autocad' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.

Mine application is not for enterprise purpose. its just my class project, and it works fine even if i put application working in background. System works ok. I dont know how to correct this error.As i dont have that much knowlege of threads.
