Shockwaveflash - Set The WMode Property To "transparent"?

May 30, 2006

With VB6 you can set the WMode property to "transparent" which then only shows the animation you want to see, but with the Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Basic) when I make the same property (WMode) to transparent it doesn't give the transparent effect only a block with the animation. Is this a Visual Studio 2005 ...problem...or do I need to set some other properties..?

Change Bgcolor Of Changed Text Box?

Sep 2, 2009

I have a data entry form with many text boxes/combo boxes/controls. I want to change their bgcolor everytime the user makes a change so they are aware of what changes they have made before commiting.

My plan is to store the original value in the tag and comapre in the validated event.

I don't won't to write the same code everytime I need a control to behave that way. I've never written a customcontrol before.

how to achieve this by probably subclassing the control and reuse the code regardless of the type of control it is?

Make A Button's Bgcolor Transparent Over Only Other Con?

Oct 4, 2011

I have a borderless form with its transparency key set to its background color. I have a richtextbox a little smaller than the form clinging to the bottom left corner of the form. At the top right corner of the RTB, I have an overlapping button control that's clinging to the top right edge of the form (it's overlapping the top right corner of the RTB.) The image I have selected for the button is a circle, so I changed the flatstyle to flat, made the border 0, made the mouseover and mousedown background colors transparent, and of course made the control's background color transparent.

Here's the problem... When I run the program, instead of seeing the top right corner of the RTB that is overlapped by the button through the button, all I see is the window that's behind my program's form (or the desktop if there is no background window.) I want to see that corner! It's supposed to look like a sheet of paper with a button overlapping the corner.[code]...

Windows - Access The My.Application Object From A Form Or Control Object?

Jul 6, 2011

I have a solution with several Projects in it. There is a Windows App project (called ImportClient), and a Class Library (Import.Library). The Import.Library has functions to perform data imports (I have other applications in the solution that also need to call it). But the interactive application, I want to be able to pass in some form controls, and have it update the GUI. No problem. But, I also want to execute a DoEvents() so that the loop execution doesn't hang other interaction to the app.

So, ImportClient has a reference to Import.Library. But I can't add a reference to ImportClient to the Import.Library, because the compiler complains about circular reference, etc. I don't know how else to define the My.Application object of ImportClient as a parameter to the data function in ImportLibrary.

(I realize this is a dumb question - problem is, for this project I have a tight timeline, and haven't learned how to do the BackgroundWorker process. If you think I could pick it up quickly, I'm open to some hints about how to update the progress bar on the GUI, and how to pause / cancel the background task.)

Wpf - Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object When Using Custom User Control

Feb 10, 2012

I have created a custom user control (JCUserControl), and I am using it in the Main Window. And my Main Window has no codebehind. I have this in the JCUserControl codebehind:

Private Sub ImmediateRadioButton_Checked(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles ImmediateRadioButton.Checked
SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = False
End Sub

When I run it, it fails with the NullReferenceException. If I comment out the SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = false, it runs without any problems.

Edit: Found out that I could just check if the radio buttons are loaded before doing whatever I want to do.

Private Sub ImmediateRadioButton_Checked(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles ImmediateRadioButton.Checked
If ImmediateRadioButton.IsLoaded Then
SomeTextBox.IsEnabled = False
End If
End Sub

Bind A Runtime Object To Control?

Aug 12, 2010

I am developing a fairly large database in VB 2010 as a record keeping. There are 37 tables with some many-to-many relationships in there and some collections too but it all gets loaded into a List of Person object.It is a record keeping database for a youth charity including Personal data, lists of events attended, Medical data, Duke of Edinburgh (UK award scheme) etc The main form is a tabbed form with the linked data from other tables and collection on various tabs

Is it possible to bind a runtime object to a control? if it is possible my life becomes very simple.I can get basic data working with DataSet binding and navigation but the ralationships may prove too fiddly to link as datasets.

Bind The Properties Of A Control To A DataTable Object?

Feb 8, 2011

What I want to achieve is to Bind just some of the properties of a Control to a DataTable object.Let's say I have a Label on the Form : "MyLabel1".MyLabel is a Class that inherits from Label and adds a property "ID", an Integer, to the base class.

I want to Bind .Left and .Top properties of MyLabel1 to a DataRow in my DataTable, and I want to see them updating, everytime I change MyLabel1 location on Form. I put description and full code, so everyone can test it in minutes :

I have :

--> A Form, with a DataGridView "DGV" : The DGV is for showing at real time the desired properties of the controls I want to bind ( in this case, just one control : MyLabel1 ).

--> MyLabel Class :
Public Class MyLabel
Inherits Label
Private m_id As Integer

Custom Control Disappears From Object Browser?

Jun 17, 2012

My question is on how custom controls should be updated.

I downloaded this owner drawn custom control, which I built, then copied the DLL to the Debug folder of the project and loaded it into the toolbox from there.

I decided to use this button on another project. I was mildly surprised to see the control was still in the toolbox but it seemed to work just fine. I decided to change this custom button's behavior. The button in the toolbox referenced the old version number. So I deleted it and loaded the newly rebuilt DLL.

Now come the problems. The first application--the one where the DLL was added to the toolbox from--still runs okay, but the second application is throwing errors, saying, Type 'CButtonLib.CButton' is not defined. When I add the button to a form, it appears okay. I can change its properties and it shows up in the code windows and in the object browser. But as soon as I try to run it and it throws the errors, it no longer appears in the object browser. References in the code window lose their intellisense.

Things I've tried include:

Copying the DLL to the project's debug and release folders and loading them into the toolbox from there. Removing it from the toolbox altogether and just adding a reference then copying and pasting a button directly from the first project. Copying in a form with a CButton on it from the first project. Scouring the internet for answers Swearing at the computer.

Forms :: Using CheckBox As Control In DataRepeater Object

Aug 31, 2011

I have a checkbox as a control in a datarepeater object. I have an event handler function which handles the checkchanged event for this checkbox and sets the visibility of other fields based on it. However, the problem I am having is that the event handler function is getting fired when I set the datasource for the datarepeater - hence when the data is being populated. So the event handler function ends up trying to set the visibility of a field that has not been created yet and bombs out with a NullReferenceException error. Is there a way to stop this event handler being fired when the datarepeater is being populated? I only want this function to be called if that checkbox is changed by the user after the form has loaded.

Getting A Reference Of An Object/Control(ex: Textbox) Present In Another .net Application?

Jun 28, 2009

i had to get the reference of an object/Control(for e.x a textbox) which is open in another .net application. I was able to retrieve the handle of that .net applcation form. but i was not able to obtain the reference of that form. I tried to using control.FromHandle(handle) function. but it returns a null for the handle i passed since the handle is not associated to the application I am running.I also tried to add the handle to my application with the following code.

Dim nw As New NativeWindow nw.AssignHandle(&H100300A) '&H100300A is a valid windows handle for an application which is open Dim c As Control = Control.FromHandle(nw.Handle)but c returned nothing.Is there any way using which i can get the reference of an object in another .net appliction from my application.

Invoking Onmousedown Action Of Object In WebBrowser Control

Aug 21, 2009

I need to trigger the onmousedown property of a table contained on a web page presented in the WebBrowser control of my form.The site is a nested frames mess, but in this particular frame the tables are basically used to create large, context buttons. In other words, you click the table and are navigated to a subform.[code]At first I thought this might be handled by using InvokeMember("click"), but that has no effect. If I try InvokeMember ("onmousedown") I receive a javascript error on the page. Can anyone tell me if/how one invokes the onmousedown property of an object inside of the WebBrowser control?

.net - Load User Control Programmatically Using LoadControl(Type, Object())?

Feb 25, 2012

I'm adding web user controls to a page dynamically. Using the LoadControl method that only takes a virtual path pointing to the .ascx works pretty nicely. However, the overload of LoadControl that takes a type and an array of parameters is causing me some headaches. The web user control is instantiated as expected, but the controls contained within the web user control are null and I get an exception as soon as I try to work with them. Strange, because it's working when use the first version of LoadControl.

The web user control, simple, with a Literal control:

<%@ Control Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="MyControl.ascx.vb" Inherits="MyControl" %>
<asp:Literal ID="myLiteral" runat="server"></asp:Literal>

The controls' code behind:

Public Class MyControl
Inherits System.Web.UI.UserControl
Public Property Data As MyData

[code]....

And the relevant code from the .aspx from which I'm trying to dynamically load the control:

Private Sub Page_Init(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
Dim x = LoadControl(GetType(MyControl), New Object() {New MyData With {.ID = 117}})
Page.Controls.Add(x)

[code]....
