I have an application where in tcp/ip voice communication will takes place. When voice call is going on, I need to record that voice call in my application. How can I do that? I need to record that call in any better audio format and save into the pc.

This button is to be a link to open the data file in a text viewer. However, I would like the button to be deactivated (grayed out) until the user selects the file. I spent some time with data modems till I realized it's a voice modem that I'm going to need in my application. I see that there are some other commands for a voice modem, although nothing very elaborate. I would imagine you make the call as you would in a data modem ATDT etc and it looks like there is really just one command to send audio...

Not sure what this is all about except maybe just different standards? Still not sure about how to detect when the call is answered though. I won't be talking to another modem. Maybe the serial port itself has a pin change or something? You would think there would be a bit "somewhere" that the modem would generate when it quits ringing. I may have build my own outboard box to do this. (easy enough -- probably more reliable too -- modems sure need rebooting a lot it seems).
Here is the goal though --Voice modem calls out, call is answered, and I inject my audio from the PC sound card for a minute or so and then tell the modem to hangup.
I have a voice program that can compare voices to stored voice files and identify people based on that. It's not the most accurate thing, since being sick or other weird things can make it fail, but it does work for the most part. I was wondering if there was a way to keep the voice recognition running during an unlock and wait for the person who locked it to come back. Upon giving the command and voice verification, if it passes, the computer is unlocked by my program. Is there anyway to do this in VB.NET?Summary: Can a program unlock a computer after it's locked?

I have small application which shows an alert in every 45 mins....( to take a break from work :) )..... It is a normal windows form with a timer in it and in every 45 mins I am invoking a message box. I am able to make it work but the problem is that when the application is minimized, the message box is not popping up, it stays with in the parent form (minimized). How can I bring it up to the user focus?

What I am trying to do is when the button is clicked, it takes an entered string from box one (which is validated to only accept numbers) adds 235 to it then converts it to hex and finally reverse the string and sets textbox two equal to that value. Note that the final string has to be eight digits so the string may needed to be padded with zeros before the string is reversed. With that said how could I go about doing this? Also I do plan to add 2 more textboxes and another button to undo this process but I am thinking if I can figure out do it one way writing the code to undo the process shouldn't be too hard.
View 12 RepliesI am back - I have my code - it is part of another main form for a child's desktop view. I have it in a console app that works great. My new form has 3 text boxes, and a start button - txtquestions, txtUserAnswer, txtResults and cmdStart - to start the game. I made some slight changes in the numbers, because I needed it for a younger child (6-7), and removed 1 case in the case select (a square root problem too much for a little one). I click on Start button, and it freezes up. I am in Debug, but do not get any kind of problems showing me a bad line of code.

I am not sure about the loops, but it doesn't just freeze up anymore, as in an endless loop. Now I am getting a stop at the first 'parse'. I actually followed the instructions in a VB 2008 book to do this, and in the help section of Visual Studio with the function and the parsing. But, that is where it stops - I know I had to convert the input into - at least I think I did. The text box for input is just that input. The user's answer is typically a number, except for at the end.
I have most of this working, but there are some issues yet. Basically, it's a "History" form for patients There's a date field for each entry, and if that date doesn't match the date you're accessing the form I want it to disable all controls so you can't edit the form.So it would have to check the current date with the date that is on the form.The issues I'm having are this. It seems to work because when I click today's date nothing gets locked like it used to, but when I do click another date everything in that form gets locked, including the override button and the scrollbar. I don't want the scrollbar locked, and I want to have an override button so the user can edit the form if they truly wish. It also locks the DateTimePicker so I can't pick another date, I don't want that locked either.I tried enabling the DTP in the sub below but it must get ignored

I have developed a VB2005 winform application and used SQL Server Express as the back end. I have developed the Setup package as well. But when it came to deployment, I came across this particular problem.
During deployment SQL Express is installed but not the Server Mgt Studio hence by default SQL Server tends to be in Window Authentication mode. In my application I have used 'sa' user to connect to the DB. Which is possible in mixed mode authentication. Now in the absence of Mixed Mode Authentication, my package is not running as intended.
Now my question is, is it possible to activate Mixed Mode Authentication without installing Management Studio? And I would like to make a patch application to automate the process.
